Sporting freshly fumigated weaves and looking somewhat lucid, Lindsay Lohan and Paula Abdul stood upright next to each other while at the same event in L.A. on Monday.
For the new season of "American Idol," Ellen DeGeneres is taking over Paula Abdul's spot -- but last night on "VH1 Divas," Paula poked fun at her successor and actually stepped into Ellen's shoes ... and hair ... and pantsuit .... and busted some serious moves.
Paula Abdul's vacant seat at the judges table on "American Idol" has officially been filled ... by Ellen DeGeneres.
Ellen announced the big news during a taping of her talk show today, saying "I have a big announcement to make. No one knows this ... I am going to be the new judge on 'American Idol.'"
Paula Abdul is working something out -- more than just her body -- 'cause last night outside of Crunch gym in West Hollywood, Paula hinted that some sort of deal was in the works ... but she wouldn't say with who!
Abdul also made it clear she isn't jealous of Posh -- or any other "American Idol" replacement judge -- and raised the point, "they don't ever say that about men ... why does it always have to be women who are jealous?"
Sources close to Paula Abdul say even though "Dancing with the Stars" ain't gonna happen, she's still talking to ABC about a show of her very own.
As we first reported, Paula met with ABC honcho Steve McPherson earlier this week and now we're told one of the cards on the table is a possible variety show. And we're told they also discussed a talent competition with Paula in the Simon Cowell seat. Sources say Paula also talked about her desire to become the executive producer.
And there's this little tidbit. We're told Paula's feelings about being "disrespected" by "Idol" execs is more intense than ever after learning Victoria Beckham pulled in a fortune -- reportedly $275,000 an episode.
But sources say she'd still come back to Simon -- if the price ($10,000,000 a year) is right.
Sources connected to Paula Abdul say Miss Paula wants back on "American Idol."
Our sources say Paula's Twitter is retracted -- at least in her mind - if the price is right. As we first reported, the magic number is $10 million. Will Paula move from that number? The way negotiations go in Hollywood ... probably, but we don't know for sure and if so how much she's willing to give.
We're also told Paula's meetings with ABC didn't really go anywhere. She doesn't want to do "Dancing with the Stars" -- we're told, in no small part, because she wants to be able to jump on a plane on a moment's notice to rejoin her fellow judges on "Idol."
And, we're told, Paula is piiiised at the producers of "Ugly Betty" for leaking the story that she was talking to them about doing the show. She's not going to do it now.
As for "Idol," as far as we know they've been pretty hard-nosed and haven't contacted her reps, but we're not positive. In the end, we're thinking "A.I." isn't gonna let a little Twitter torpedo one of its golden geese.
UPDATE: We spotted Paula Abdul out Saturday night at Boa. She didn't quite know where the restaurant was ... or whether or not she would be joining "Dancing with the Stars." Hmmm ...
Paula Abdul isn't missing a beat. Our spies say she spent part of the afternoon yesterday with ABC entertainment honcho Steve McPherson.
We're told Stevie M. wants Paula to be a contestant on "Dancing With the Stars" in the worst way. We're told there was talk of making her a guest judge but that's not gonna happen, and we know why. Paula and Carrie Ann Inaba don't get along.
But McPherson, who's friends with Paula, wants more from her than "Dancing." There's talk of Paula doing a guest appearance on "Ugly Betty." And we're told Paula has a show in mind with her name on it.
As for that other show ... "American Idol" we think it's called ... Paula is not shutting the door. $10 million, and she's theirs.
Someone affiliated with "American Idol" finally thinks Paula Abdul deserves $10 million. Slight problem: It's only Ruben Studdard.
Studdard, who won season two, thinks Paula is "probably" worth it -- but as TMZ first reported, Abdul has been taking meetings with ABC head honcho Steve McPherson and could end up on "Ugly Betty" and a show with her name on it instead.
We confronted Paula Abdul head-on with our story that she will return to "American Idol" for a cool $10 million. Trust us, it's true, but Ms. Abdul played poker after landing at Burbank airport.
Sadly, our cameraman got it wrong by asking Paula if she was bent out of shape because she felt disrespected by Simon. She legitimately answered "no." The truth is -- even more than the money, she Twitter-quit because she felt disrespected by "A.I." execs, who agreed to pay Ryan Seacrest $15 mil a year, Simon Cowell a gazillion a year, and Paula a puny $4 mil a year.
Hey "American Idol" cheapskates -- $10 mil is a bargain ... because crazy sells!
Sources tell us Paula Abdul will make a deal with "American Idol" if the price is right -- and we're told that price is $10 million a year.
We've already reported well-connected "Idol" sources say they haven't closed the door on bringing Paula back for season 9. We're told they have not communicated with Abdul since she tweeted her goodbye, and auditions start Friday -- without Paula.
But here's the deal. Our sources say Paula was not happy with the "Idol" offer but willing to sign -- just days before her deal-breaking tweet. She had a sudden change of heart, largely because she felt "disrespected" by "Idol" execs who had offered Simon and Ryan a lot more than they offered her. We're told the show offered her around $4 million a year.
In the end, we're told the magic number is $10 mil. If "Idol" antes up, they can buy a loose cannon.
**Check out yesterday's TMZ Live -- when Harvey and Charles answered your questions about Paula's fate and Debbie Rowe showing up to Dr. Arnie Klein's office again.
It hasn't even been 48 hours since she quit "American Idol" -- but Paula Abdul claims Simon Cowell is already missing her like crazy!
The ex-judge was at JFK yesterday, where she called the situation "overwhelming" -- but insisted the drama wouldn't change her relationship with her former desk-mate.
Abdul also said she hadn't heard about producer Nigel Lythgoe's offer to be on "So You Think You Can Dance" -- but she might have another backup gig lined up anyway: Babysitting ... for Barack Obama's kids!
For the record -- we know Nigel offered Paula an opportunity to become a "guest judge" -- but nothing permanent ... at least not yet.
Harvey Levin You're not the only one who thinks T.O. isn't doing that well this season... http://su.pr/5bNNfP
