Joe Francis is officially a free man -- and won't be going back to jail after pleading guilty to filing false tax returns.

We were outside court today when Joe emerged victorious -- after the judge sentenced him to time served, $250,000 restitution and a $10,000 fine. He could have faced up to 10 years in prison.
He said he's now ready to get back to his "clean business" ... of getting barely legal girls to take off their tops.

Lil Wayne has just pled guilty to attempted weapon possession in New York.

Wayne was busted on July 22, 2007 in NYC after police pulled over his tour bus because they allegedly smelled pot.
Cops say when an officer approached the bus, Wayne tossed a Louis Vuitton bag with a gun inside.
New York is known for having extremely tough gun laws -- Wayne is expecting to get 1-year behind bars.
Wayne's troubles are far from over.
The rapper still faces felony drug possession and weapons charges in Arizona ... after cops found 105 grams of marijuana, 29 grams of cocaine, 41 grams of ecstasy, various drug paraphernalia and a handgun on his tour bus during a traffic stop in Yuma County back in 2008.
Wayne pled not guilty to those charges -- his trial is set for March of 2010.

Plaxico Burress' new prison digs are more Four Seasons than Howard Johnson -- we're told the lucky felon just landed the equivalent of a lockdown penthouse.
We're told Plax's new room -- not cell -- at Oneida Correctional Facility is an impressive 12 feet wide by 12 feet long -- as opposed to some places where they're only 10 X 6.
We've also learned the room comes equipped with its own window -- so Plax can have a good look at where he would be if he didn't shoot himself in the leg.
And there's this: Plaxico doesn't have to share the super-sized sleeping quarters with anyone named Bubba -- he gets it all to himself.

... New York, where he'll now be staying in a luxurious prison known as the Oneida Correctional Facility.
The New York State Department of Correctional Services tells us Plaxico was moved from Ulster Correctional Facility in Napanoch, NY this morning and taken to his new permanent home at Oneida, which is in Rome, New York.
We're told Plaxico -- who was sentenced to two years in prison last week -- will be separated from the general population and staying in the long-term protective custody unit.
We're told there are only 18 inmates currently staying in Plax's section of the prison -- which can hold up to 43 at a time.

The guy who co-wrote "Pulp Fiction" with Quentin Tarantino will have plenty of alone time to think of his next script -- he just landed time behind bars over his fatal DUI crash last year.
Roger Avary -- who landed an Oscar for the script -- was sentenced yesterday in Ventura County, CA to one year behind bars.
Avary pled guilty in August to gross vehicular manslaughter and DUI -- after a passenger in his Mercedes died when he wrapped his car around a telephone pole in Ventura County in 2008.
Cops say his car was traveling more than 100 MPH.
Avary -- who also co-wrote "Beowulf" and directed "The Rules of Attraction" -- also got five years probation.

Roman Polanski's lawyers are angling to block any extradition attempt by asking a Swiss judge to release him from custody ...on grounds the move by U.S. law enforcement to haul him back was illegal.
Polanski is currently in a prison cell in Zurich, Switzerland. There's now talk that he could be placed on house arrest while lawyers fight it out. Here's the best part -- the house would be Polanski's Gstaad chalet .... nice work if you can get it.
Polanski fled the U.S. after pleading guilty in 1977 to having unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor. The judge in the case reneged on the plea agreement and that's when Roman beat a hasty retreat to France.
The decision on whether to free Polanski is expected to take weeks.

We've learned Plaxico Burress arrived at Rikers Island jail in New York at 1:20 PM ET, this according to Deputy Commissioner for NYC Dept. of Corrections Steve Morello.
We're told Plax's stay will be a short one -- he'll be shipped off tomorrow to his next destination ... Fishkill Correctional Facility.
While Plax is behind bars at Rikers, we're told he'll be staying in an individual cell -- meaning no cell mate -- which includes a mattress, sheet and blanket, drinking cup, faucet, toilet, toilet paper and soap.
Also, we're told Plax will shower separately because of his celebrity status -- so he can drop the soap all he wants.
We're told Plax's meals will be delivered to his cell -- for dinner tonight he'll have hot dogs, beans, whole wheat bread and fruit. For breakfast tomorrow he'll get fruit, grits, whole wheat bread and his choice of coffee or tea.

The NFL team that released Plaxico Burress four months after he shot himself in the leg just weighed in on their former receiver's two year prison sentence.

The New York Giants gave us the following statement:
"This has been a tragic, sad, disappointing situation from the beginning. Our concern has always been for Plax's welfare, and for his family, and that continues to be our overriding feeling."
Plaxico caught the Giants' game-winning touchdown in Superbowl XLII -- when they beat the undefeated New England Patriots.

The guy who pilfered Kelly Monaco's Las Vegas penthouse back in April is heading to the slammer -- he was just sentenced to serve 12 to 30 months behind bars.
Merrill Wetter pled guilty to burglary back in June, after he broke into Kelly's pad at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino on April 23.
As part of his plea deal, Wetter will also have to pay Kelly $5,000 in restitution, as well as a $25 court fee and a $150 DNA fee.
Wetter -- who will serve his time in the Nevada State Prison -- has already served 138 days.

Turns out Foxy Brown's jail stay was nicer than your last vacation.
Ms. Brown, who did nine months at Rikers Island after beating two nail-salon manicurists, was allowed to wear Gucci sneakers and a Fendi scarf, according to a great story in the New York Post.
When the stuff got soiled, the sycophantic jailers just replenished her supply. As the story goes -- the jailers also facilitated a photo shoot for Foxy.
The jailers were constantly in her cell. According to one Post source "they were in her cell day and night" -- whatever she wanted she got.

Phil Spector is settling into his new prison home with a very unsettling new look.

The murderer was moved to a new prison in central California yesterday, and a source tells TMZ that sans wig, Spector's looking a lot like the Crypt Keeper.
We're also told he turned down his first dinner -- chicken a la king with beans and cornbread.

O.J. Simpson still thinks he's innocent -- 'cause the murdering murderer-slash-armed robber is playin' the race card in the hopes of springing himself from the bowels of a Nevada state prison.
Simpson filed an appeal Tuesday with the Nevada Supreme Court over that hotel room confrontation where he punked two sports memorabilia dealers. Simpson is crying that his conviction was tainted by judicial misconduct, a lack of racial diversity on the jury and errors in sentencing and jury instructions.
OJ is set to serve anywhere between 9 -33 years -- no word if he's still trying to hunt down the "real killer" from behind bars.

Rapper T.I. has checked himself into the federal prison in Forrest City, Arkansas, according to one of his attorneys.
We're told T.I. reported to the minimum security prison prior to the 12 PM deadline. The 28-year-old rapper was sentenced to 366 days after he was busted trying to buy unregistered machine guns and silencers from undercover federal agents back in 2007.
Sources say the rapper spent his last day of freedom with close family and friends at his home in Georgia.
UPDATE: T.I.'s other lawyer told us the rapper was on time at the prison -- but after seeing the mob of media, they drove around looking for a better way to get in. This caused T.I. to be late 12 PM check-in. Not a good start...
