Release Your Inner Filmmaker

How many of you have sat around with some friends, criticizing an episode of "The Outer Limits" or "Battlestar Galactica" and thought, "I could do much better." Well ... it's finally time to put up or shut up.
Exposure
The Sci-Fi Channel, in conjunction with the Sundance Channel, is launching an eight-week long short film competition to find the world's next great science fiction auteur.

The competition, aptly titled "Exposure," will search for the best 2-8 minute sci-fi, horror or fantasy short. Films will be judged by a committee of Sci-Fi Channel and Sundance Channel experts, who will post the best flicks on the Internet each week. Fans will then vote for eight weekly champions to compete in an on-air special on the Sci Fi Channel. Viewers will vote online to determine the grand prize winner.

Submissions are welcomed from now until November 20th. Online voting will begin October 23rd.

So, bust out your wizard hat and slather on your best alien makeup, because now is your chance to show the world that you've got what it takes to become the next Ridley Scott or Peter Jackson.

'Galactica' Webisodes Break Records

The Sci-Fi Channel's foray into webisodes has been a huge success. Nowhere is that success more prevalent then the record-breaking traffic generated by the "Battlestar Galactica: The Resistance."
Battlestar Galactica
The first two webisodes garnered record visitors for Sci Fi's broadband channel Sci Fi Pulse. The webisodes are a prequel to the third season of the critically acclaimed "Battlestar Galactica."

The increased traffic has turned curiosity into ratings. "The phenomenal success of 'The Resistance' proves that there is a definite audience for webisodes that can have an impact on TV viewing," said Craig Engler the Senior Vice President of SCIFI.COM "People who have never watched the show before are very excited to become new viewers."

New two to three minute installments of "Battlestar Galactica: The Resistance" will continue to debut every Tuesday and Thursday at noon leading up to the premiere of the third season of "Battlestar Galactica" on October 6th on the Sci-Fi Channel.

"Eureka" Discovers the Web

EurekaThe Sci Fi Channel is following the lead of hit shows "Lost" and "The Office" in offering webisodes for its new critically acclaimed series, "Eureka."

The series revolves around a town, aptly named Eureka, that is a secret sanctuary for the nation's geniuses. Jack Carter, the town's newest sheriff, has the job of trying to contain some of the uh-oh's that are the by-product of the town's experiments.

The webisodes branch off of the series' plot lines and follow an investigation into a mysterious beast believed to have attacked two local teenagers. When a video of the events leading up to the attack appears on the Internet, Sheriff Jack Carter and Biological Containment specialist Jim Taggart get on the case to track the beast down.

Viewers can watch the webisode prequel and the seven two-minute webisodes on Sci Fi Pulse.

You Decide Sci Fi's "Screw-On Head" Fate

Amazinf Screw-On HeadThe Sci Fi network will premiere their new animated series "Amazing Screw-On Head" on the network's broadband channel Sci Fi Pulse two weeks before it premieres on the network. This isn't just a chance to see a sneak preview of a show before it airs-- the Sci Fi Network is giving viewers a chance to dictate what is or isn't shown on the network.

The web preview will have a questionnaire viewers will fill out. The network will then decide, utilizing the feedback, whether or not the network will continue to air the show.

The Sci Fi Channel says "Sci Fi Pulse gives our viewers an unprecedented opportunity to give us direct feedback."

"Amazing Screw-On Head" follows the exploits of one of America's unsung heroes: a secret U.S. agent who happens to be a robot that screws his head on a variety of bodies and battles those who threaten our civilization. Paul Giamatti and David Hyde Pierce lend their voice talents to the show.

"Amazing Screw-On Head" will premiere at Sci Fi Pulse on July 13th and on the Sci Fi Network July 27th.
