Ryan Jenkins -- the reality show contestant who killed himself after he was accused of brutally murdering his wife -- was mocked ruthlessly on Halloween with a display featuring the actual coat rack he used to hang himself.
Sometime last month, the coat rack was removed from the Thunderbird Motel room where Jenkins hanged himself, after the room's new occupant complained that the rack creeped him out and he couldn't sleep.
The manager gave the rack to a friend of his -- a friend who decided it was the perfect decoration for his Halloween party.
The friend labeled the rack as "Ryan Jenkins' Last Stop" and we're told, shockingly, it was a huge hit at the party ... with several people taking morbid photos with it like it was the Lincoln Memorial.
FYI -- For those of you with an eye for detail, that IS the same air freshener hanging from the rack in both pics.
Law enforcement sources directly connected with the death of DJ AM tell us that his death was the result of an accidental overdose and not a suicide -- and there is a tragic, ironic twist of fate.
Our sources say DJ AM, a recovering addict, developed a dependency to Xanax and other benzodiazepines (a group of drugs used to treat anxiety) as a direct result of the plane crash a year ago. We're told AM (aka Adam Goldstein) developed a tremendous anxiety over flying -- something he had to do frequently for his job.
We're told doctors began prescribing Xanax and other anti-anxiety medications to relieve his fear, but the benzos triggered a relapse into addiction. We're told benzos are particularly dicey for recovering addicts.
Our sources say DJ AM's relapse was "recent" -- he was not abusing for a prolonged period of time before his death.
We're also told the OD had "absolutely nothing to do with his recent breakup."
Our sources say the evidence strongly indicates cause of death will be a combination of crack cocaine and benzos.
Former "Road Rules" star Mark Long has either been on or hosted just about every reality show on MTV -- so when he says Ryan Jenkins has made reality television "scary," we tend to believe him.
Long actually hosted the premiere party for "Megan Wants a Millionaire," the VH1 show Jenkins was a contestant on. He didn't meet Jenkins, but he says Megan Hauserman told him she never suspected Jenkins was capable of something so horrific.
Jenkins was wanted in connection with the murder of his wife, Jasmine Fiore. He hung himself on August 23.
UPDATE: The room below is in the motel where Jenkins' body was found -- and the photo agency who owns the pics say it's the same room -- and coat rack -- where Jenkins hanged himself. The agency says the photos were taken about 6 hours after the body was discovered -- after the room had been inspected and cleaned.
The manager of the motel where Ryan Jenkins hanged himself says he was found hanging from the coat rack behind the door and his feet were touching the ground.
The manager says it was odd that he could touch the ground. We do not know if Jenkins sedated himself before hanging himself.
Residents of the motel (it's used for sober living) tell TMZ Jenkins, who walked around the grounds from time to time, looked nothing like the video and pictures that have been circulating. He was skinny, his cheeks were sunken and he was wearing clothes that looked like he purchased them at a thrift store.
As for the mystery woman who accompanied him, she was very pretty, between 20-25 years old and was "extremely calm" when she checked in. The manager says he was a bit suspicious when they first pulled up in a PT Cruiser. The car pulled up -- ironically -- next to a dumpster rather than in a parking spot. He waited in the car while she checked him in. She left 20 minutes after Jenkins checked in and has not been seen again.
UPDATE: TMZ just spoke with the motel manager who said he did not see a suicide note when he discovered the body.
Officials have Jenkins' laptop -- but it's unclear what was on it.
Ryan Jenkins was found dead in Canada yesterday -- hanging from a coat rack in a motel room -- but the investigation into the murder of his wife, Jasmine Fiore, continues.
Authorities in Canada are looking for the woman who allegedly drove Jenkins to the Thunderbird Motel in Hope, B.C. on Thursday and checked him in. The manager of the motel says she was in her early 20s and drove a silver PT Cruiser with Alberta license plates.
The woman stayed with Jenkins for about 20 minutes and wasn't seen again. The woman paid upfront for three days -- in cash. The manager claims he never got a good look at Jenkins because he waited in the car while the mystery blond checked him in.
When Jenkins didn't check out Sunday as planned, the manager of the motel and his nephew went to check on him.
When there was no answer, they entered the room and found Jenkins hanging by his belt from a coat rack. Cops say they believe Jenkins' death was "an apparent suicide." He was wearing a t-shirt and jeans. There was a laptop open on a desk inside the room.
Jenkins had to be IDed through his fingerprints.
Royal Canadian Mounted Police Sgt. Duncan Pound said last night, "At this present time the investigation into the circumstances of his death is continuing, but preliminary evidence suggests that he took his own life. Any further details will not be released at this time as this investigation remains in its infancy."
Jenkins was wanted for the murder of his wife, swimsuit model Jasmine Fiore. Her naked, mutilated body was found in a suitcase inside of a dumpster in Buena Park, Calif. on August 15.
Robert Hasman -- the ex-boyfriend who Jasmine Fiore was texting on the night before she was murdered -- went on the 'Today'show this morning and said,"I was happy that Ryan [Jenkins], that he killed himself."
UPDATE: TMZ spoke with the manager of the motel and one of the residents. They say Jenkins checked in on Friday. He was dropped off by a woman in her early 20s who drove a silver PT Cruiser with Alberta license plates. She stayed for about 20 minutes and wasn't seen again. The room was paid for two days. When Jenkins didn't check it out today, the manager and his nephew went to check on him. When there was no answer, they entered the room and found Jenkins hanging by his belt from a coat rack. He was wearing a t-shirt and jeans. There was a laptop open on a desk inside the room. UPDATE: Lt. Steve Holliday of Buena Park PD addressed the press, saying, "The sadness of this is all is that Mr. Jenkins will not stand before an Orange County jury for his crime." UPDATE: His body was discovered at about 5:00 PM PT. UPDATE: Jenkins was apparently ID'ed through fingerprints. UPDATE: RCMP Sgt. Duncan Pound: "At this present time the investigation into the circumstances of his death is continuing, but preliminary evidence suggests that he took his own life. Any further details will not be released at this time as this investigation remains in its infancy." Ryan Jenkins has been found dead in Canada, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
He was found dead at the Thunderbird Motel in Hope, B.C. of an apparent suicide, according to RCMP Sgt. Duncan Pound.
Jenkins' body was discovered by motel staff. According to law enforcement sources, he was found hanging.
Jenkins was charged on August 20 in the murder of his wife, Jasmine Fiore.
Fiore's mutilated body was found in a suitcase inside of a dumpster in Buena Park, Calif. on August 15.
Story developing ...
UPDATE 11:00 PM PT -- The Buena Park PD held a press conference earlier this evening (below middle). The Royal Canadian Mounted Police also did a press conference earlier today (below right).
Talk about a morbid coincidence: 3 months before he was killed in an apparent murder-suicide, NFL QB Steve McNair filmed a suicide prevention PSA.
The spot hasn't aired -- and the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities says they won't be releasing it because it is now "not only inappropriate but doesn't serve the community."
We've just seen a higher resolution image of the photo that appears to be David Carradine's body hanging in his hotel room -- and it shows what seems consistent with an auto-erotica scenario ... at least from outward appearances.
The photo -- published by a Thai tabloid -- shows a body suspended from a bar in a closet, with his hands bound together above his head. Carradine's genitals were also tied.
But the new sharper image also reveals what appears to be fishnet stockings covering the body. You can also see red women's lingerie on the bed. And, it appears, Carradine may have been wearing a dark wig.
Although there are signs this could have been a sexual act that turned accidentally deadly, family sources say they are still suspicious of the circumstances and have not ruled out homicide.
David Carradine's official cause of death will be listed as suffocation, according to a hospital staffer in Bangkok.
The staffer, who was present when the autopsy was conducted, also says there were no other bruises or marks on Carradine's body besides the ones on his neck.
That would support the theory that the actor's death was not the result of foul play.
Now we know why David Carradine's family thinks foul play may have been involved in the actors death -- his manager tells us Carradine was found with his hands tied behind his back.
Chuck Binder, Carradine's manager, tells us he firmly believes Carradine did not take his own life -- nor does he think David died accidentally. Binder says the family has been told Carradine's hands were immobilized by the rope.
Carradine was found by a hotel maid Thursday morning with a rope tied around his neck and another around his genitals in a Bangkok hotel room.
UPDATE: Thai police are now recognizing David's death may not have been a suicide, by saying, "It is unclear whether he committed suicide or not or [whether] he died of suffocation or heart failure." Police say he could have died from an "accidental suffocation."
UPDATE: We've been told by the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok that David's body was shipped back to the States Friday evening (Thailand is 14 hours ahead of PST).
One of the reasons David Carradine's reps and family smell foul play is because people are saying the hotel has been slow at turning over evidence to cops in Thailand.
We're told the family has been getting calls from Thailand saying the hotel where Carradine's body was found has been slow on the uptake in handing over hotel surveillance video to cops.
More information suggesting David Carradine's death was not a suicide. CNN is citing police sources who say police and rescue workers in Thailand told them "the actor's neck and genitals were found bound with rope." Meanwhile, Caradine's manager is suggesting foul play.
The CNN report says "a yellow nylon rope was tied around the actor's neck and a black rope was around his genitals."
Chuck Binder, Carradine's manager, told CNN "I do not want to get in the middle of this whole investigation, but this guy said to me for sure there was foul play." The police have not alluded to anything other than an accident, at least not publicly.
