The two police chiefs who were arrested for allegedly breaking into Sarah Jessica Parker's surrogate's home have been charged today with burglary, complicity to burglary, tampering with evidence -- and the list goes on.

Police Chief of Martins Ferry, OH Barry P. Carpenter and Police Chief of Bridgeport, OH Chad M. Dojack are accused of concocting a plan to break into the home of Michelle Ross and sell items that would identify her as the surrogate mother for Matthew Broderick and SJP.
Carpenter faces two counts of burglary, and one court for receiving stolen property, theft in office, tampering with evidence and unauthorized use of property or services. Dojack is charged with two counts complicity to burglary and one count complicity to receiving stolen property. The police chiefs face around 8 years in the clink if found guilty on the burglary charges.
A third man, Bruce Callarik -- who happens to be the son of Bridgeport's mayor -- is charged with complicity to receiving stolen property as well.
All three pleaded not guilty.

Two police chiefs have been arrested for allegedly concocting a plan to break into the Ohio home of Sarah Jessica Parker's surrogate in May, this according to WTOV.
Martins Ferry Police Chief Barry Carpenter and Bridgeport Police Chief Chad Dojack were all booked into the Belmont County jail at around 9 PM. It's unclear at the moment what charges they face.
A third man was also arrested in connection with the case -- that guy happens to be the son of Bridgeport's mayor.
Investigators claim the men hatched a plot to swipe valuable information from the surrogate's home in Martins Ferry -- including voice mails left by SJP -- which were to be sold to a tabloid.
All three men posted bond shortly after the arrests.
The surrogate gave birth on June 23 to twin girls.

While we wait to see whether or not she mounts a battle for custody of her possibly biological children, Michael Jackson's ex-wife Debbie Rowe was spotted out at her mother's house yesterday after running errands.

We've learned Michael Jackson was not the biological father of any of his children. And Debbie Rowe is not the biological mother of the two kids she bore for Michael. All three children were conceived in vitro -- outside the womb.
Multiple sources deeply connected to the births tell us Michael was not the sperm donor for any of his kids. Debbie's eggs were not used. She was merely the surrogate, and paid well for her services in the births of Michael Jr. and Paris.
In the case of Prince Michael II (the youngest), we're told the surrogate was never told of the identity of the "receiving parent" -- Michael Jackson. Three days after Prince was born at Grossmont Hospital in San Diego County, Jackson's lawyer came to the hospital to pick the baby up and deliver him to Michael.
We do not know if Jackson chose the sperm or egg donors or if he even knew who they were.
Although Rowe is not the biological mother, it's not a slam dunk that she would lose a custody battle. This type of case has never been litigated in California courts. Since Rowe was married to Jackson when Michael Jr. and Paris were born, there's a presumption that she's the biological parent. That presumption can be rebutted by other evidence.
We know there are documents outlining the whole arrangement for the birth of all three kids. Nonetheless, it's still an open issue with the courts.

Have two babies ... then bring water to a boil. That's the headache facing the surrogate who just delivered Sarah Jessica Parker's newly minted kids.
The surrogate gave birth in Martins Ferry, Ohio last night. Here's the problem -- there were breaks in the water main over the weekend. It's a small town, so 3 breaks in the pipes and everyone is screwed.
The hospital has to boil all the drinking water and it's turned into a gigantic hassle. But by the time the kids are 3 days old, the faucets are expected to flow again.

UPDATE: 2:56 ET: Chief Carpenter now says he jumped to conclusions -- when he was told he was dealing with a tabloid, he assumed it was the National Enquirer. Carpenter now says, "I'm not exactly sure. If the National Enquirer didn't have anything to do with this, then I publicly apologize."
Law enforcement sources tell us the two Ohio police chiefs under investigation in the Sarah Jessica Parker caper became targets after they allegedly demanded too much money for stolen pictures.
Here's what we're being told. Martins Ferry Police Chief Barry Carpenter allegedly went to the home of the surrogate who is carrying SJP's baby. We're told cops believe the chief knocked at her door and when no one answered he allegedly broke in. Our sources say once inside the chief took 15 pictures and may have tried retrieving voice mail messages left by Parker.
That's when the alleged plot really got dirty. Our sources say Carpenter and neighboring police chief Chad Dojack had concocted a plan to sell the stuff to a tabloid for $15,000. Law enforcement tells us the deal went south when the chiefs allegedly had a change of heart and doubled the demand to $30,000. The tabloid balked and the plan fell apart -- allegedly.
Now get this. The sources say the tabloid blew the whistle on the police chiefs. We're told Ohio investigators seized Carpenter's cell phone and captured the 15 pictures taken inside the surrogate's house.
Carpenter initially said the tabloid he dealt with was the National Enquirer and that he was just messing with them. The Enquirer tells us they were not involved in the caper in any way, shape or form.
Both Carpenter and Dojak are under investigation. Carpenter has denied any wrongdoing. We haven't heard anything from Dojak.

So how's this for an explanation as to how a police chief allegedly got caught in bed with a tabloid reporter trying to sell out Sarah Jessica Parker?
Martins Ferry Police Chief Barry Carpenter -- the Ohio cop now under investigation for allegedly hatching a plot to burglarize the home of the woman who is carrying SJP's babies -- now says there's a perfectly innocent explanation to all of this. He says he was driving past the home of the surrogate mother one day when he noticed that her front door was open.
According to David Blomquist, a morning radio talk show host at WWVA in West Virginia, the ever-helpful Chief Carpenter told him he went inside to make sure things were ok, and noticed what looked like a plaster of paris cast of the surrogate's stomach. Carpenter says he looked around and left.
For some unexplained reason, Carpenter says he knew a reporter from the National Enquirer was snooping around town so he met up with him, allegedly just to "mess with him and jerk him around."
Apparently, law enforcement didn't see it that way. Investigators tell us there's some hard evidence of a conspiracy to burglarize.
Carpenter told Blomquist his home was searched and nothing was found. He says he's willing to take a polygraph.

The burglars allegedly sent to the home of Sarah Jessica Parker's surrogate were on the hunt for voice mail messages left by SJP, according to sources.
A law enforcement source tells us cops have hard evidence to prove that the police chiefs under investigation were in on the plot. We're told the investigation will take 2 - 3 weeks to complete.

Matthew Broderick has just released a statement through his rep, Simon Halls, regarding allegations that two police chiefs concocted a plan to break into the Ohio home of SJP's surrogate mother.
"Matthew and Sarah Jessica have complete faith in the legal system. But because it's a criminal investigation -- we will not be making any more comment. What I can say is the entire family looks forward to the healthy delivery of their daughters later on this summer."

This one qualifies as shocking ... two police chiefs in the area where Sarah Jessica Parker's surrogate mother lives are under investigation -- for allegedly concocting a plan to break into the surrogate's home to get info for a tabloid.
Martins Ferry Police Chief Barry Carpenter and Bridgeport Police Dept. Chief Chad DoJack allegedly were behind a plan to burglarize the surrogate's home in Martins Ferry, Ohio and then sell info to a tabloid reporter -- this according to WTRF TV.
We're told investigators have seized several computers. As for the operating theory -- investigators believe the culprits were trying to get photos from inside the house to show the living conditions.
It appears there really was a break-in a few weeks ago.
UPDATE: Police Chief Barry Carpenter told WTOV: "I'm 100% innocent in this and my department is as well."
