Brooke Shields is claiming a reporter and a photog working for the National Enquirer checked out her 75-year-old mother from her nursing home in hopes of a good "tabloid story."
Teri Shields was signed out of her nursing home Thursday, and Brooke tells People that a reporter drove her mother around New Jersey in hopes of finding a good story. Brooke says her mother suffers from dementia, and claims her mom was allegedly tricked into leaving the facility after the journalist claimed they were friends.
Teri Shields was later found by police in a nearby restaurant, unharmed, having lunch with the reporter. The Enquirer claims the freelance reporter has known Teri for 10 years and was given permission by the facility to check her out.
No one was arrested and charges have not been filed.

Alert the authorities! There's a trainwreck missing! Tara Reid looks amazing!
Her tabloid target days may be behind her. The scaffolding came down from around Tara Reid, and the repair work is looking pretty good -- as she proved in this red bikini. The once blowsy blonde was spotted prancing poolside with a group of friends at the exclusive Bacara Resort and Spa in Santa Barbara this weekend, causing onlookers to wonder whatever happened to Tara Reid.
Tara's hottie "Van Wilder" times have returned -- hopefully to stay. Check your local train schedules.

Everyone's interested in what Britney's been up to -- including Miss Spears herself.
The partying pop star mom popped into a convenience store last night and checked out the latest gossip on her life by skimming through the current issue of Us Weekly, which features her and new boytoy Isaac Cohen on the cover.
After figuring out where she'd been for the past week, America's favorite trainwreck then grabbed a Red Bull, and spent the evening with friends, cruising the streets of L.A. in her convertible Mercedes.
