The show must go on ... sources tell TMZ after Conan O'Brien banged his head while taping "The Tonight Show" this afternoon, he never stopped cracking jokes ... not even when he was being transported to the hospital.
Conan's injury occurred while he was filming a skit for tonight's show, our sources say he was transported by ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
Since Conan was unable to finish taping, NBC told us they're going to air a repeat.
UPDATE: An NBC spokesman tells us, "Conan is resting comfortably at home. He is expected to return to work on Monday."

Conan O'Brien was injured while filming a skit for his show this afternoon and was unable to continue taping, this according to a rep from NBC.
Here's the statement from NBC, which includes a quote from Conan:
"Tonight, NBC will broadcast a repeat of 'The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien.' Conan hit his head doing a stunt and the show was not finished.
Conan O'Brien added, "Last thing I remember I was enjoying the play with Mrs. Lincoln, and the next thing I knew I was in bed being served cookies and juice."

Jay Leno bid his adieu to the "Tonight Show" last night, but he had trouble speaking over the applause.
Jay gave Conan O'Brien a boost that Jay never never had when he started -- the stage on the predecessor's last show.
Jay's best joke -- when he started 17 years ago, his hair was black and the President was white.

Conan O'Brien blended in with the rest of the tourists on a miniature train ride at Griffith Park in Los Angeles yesterday.
Well, as much as any pale-as-a-ghost, 6'4", redheaded late night talk show host can blend in.

A day after Michael Richards apologized on "The Late Show with David Letterman," Jay Leno took to "The Tonight Show" stage and delivered a few zingers at the expense of the man we know as "Kramer."
"I had a horrible gig last night," Leno began. "I had to follow Michael Richards at The Laugh Factory."
But Leno didn't stop there. He continued, "As you know, Michael Richards said some very offensive things at a comedy club the other night in Hollywood. People were booing, yelling, some got up and walked out. Of course, people waiting outside for the second show had no idea what was going on. They just assumed Carrot Top was on stage."

Where do you go as an emerging rap artist when you want to garner some serious street cred? Playa, everyone knows you've just got to do ... Leno.
Which is exactly what K-Fed did (or thought he was doing) last night when he performed on "The Tonight Show" to promote his upcoming world tour, which kicks off November 4th in New York. Hitting outlets like Leno and the Nickelodeon Teen Choice Awards, K-Fed is clearly going straight to the streets with his new album. And, of course, with lyrics like "Kicks on my feet/That you ain't never seen/Lights on my wrist/Stones in my ears/$2 million I brought in the new year" and "I'm rich but I hustle like I'm broke/Never knowing what the pancake man gonna flip," K-Fed is without a doubt the hardscrabble ghetto poet of the new millennium.
We can't wait until the tour is in full swing and we can all revel in his greatness.

An obsessed fan of Colin Farrell's bypassed security and rushed the "Tonight Show" stage during a taping with Colin Farrell Thursday afternoon.
The woman was identified as Dessarae Bradford. Bradford unsuccessfully sued the actor for $5,000 last April claiming the "Miami Vice" star had harassed her with phone calls, cards and text messages.
