Raiders of the Lego Ark

Indiana Jones is joining the Star Wars universe -- in the realm of Lego video game goodness!

Slated for a summer 2008 launch, "Lego Indiana Jones: The Video game" gives everyone the chance to become their favorite adventure-seeking archaeologist, and play through all three original "Indiana Jones" movies. The game will present a tongue-in-cheek take on the original trilogy, while you whip your way to the treasures of the world. Console information hasn't been announced yet, but it's sure to make it to all the major video game systems.

With Lucas giving us the "Star Wars" and "Indiana Jones" based Lego games, could a "Howard the Duck" game be far behind?

Lego My Lando

Take two great things; LEGO and "Star Wars," mash them into a tongue-in-cheek take on the entire "Star Wars" storyline -- and you've got yourself some good times!

The newest addition to the LEGO Star Wars franchise covers all six movies. Even if you know the entire series verbatim, the game brings a new humor to the storyline and is a refreshing re-imagining of George Lucas' contribution to modern cultural history. With over 160 playable characters, you can finally see what it's like to be Jar Jar Binks in the Ewok village ... you can even create cross-trilogy, mash-up characters like Han Windu and Amidala Vader.

LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga will be available in fall 2007, for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Nintendo DS and Wii.

Make a Mario Movie

The Horror of ZeldaYou like video games, you like movies -- and who doesn't like $10,000?

Nintendo and the Tribeca Film Festival are giving videogame fans a chance to show off their creativity and win $10,000 in the Nintendo Short Cuts Showcase. All you have to do is create a five-minute (or less) film with a Nintendo theme. The film can be comedy, drama, animation, live action -- whatever you can imagine is fair game.

The top three videos will premiere at the Top of the Rock observation deck at Rockefeller Center during the Rock Center's Annual Film Showcase in June. First place gets the cash, and all three films receive Nintendo games and hardware.

Be on the lookout for TMZ's five-minute horror epic, "The Legend of Zelda -- Link's Revenge."

Wii vs. PS3: Battle of the Consoles

Now that both next gen systems have hit stores, sucking hard-earned cash out of gamer wallets, let's take a look at the very different console launches.
PS3 / Wii
The PS3, with its cell processor and Blu-Ray, was created and marketed for the hardcore gamer. Gamers who flocked to the release of the $600 system were a bit more tenacious than retailers expected; stabbings, shootings, robberies and mini-riots plagued campout lines. Not exactly the welcome Sony expected. Most of those waiting in line were planning to sell the system on eBay for a quick buck; some sold as high as $2500, they're now selling for more reasonable $1200 on the auction site. Still a tidy profit (if you don't mind standing in the rain for three days).

Conversely, the Wii launch was a well-oiled machine. Most who waited in lines were guaranteed a Wii for $250, with chances of bodily harm remaining slim. A virtual love fest. In order to choose console recipients, raffle tickets were handed out to people in line, instead of the lunatic PS3 race for chairs that caused one gamer to receive a dislocated jaw -- the guy hung in there and got a PS3. Seriously dude, that's hardcore.

An unscientific poll of gamers (friends) and non-gamers (the rest of the TMZ staff) has the Wii on top, citing the wireless remote and lower cost as main factors.

Michael Madsen Brings Yakuza to Life

When he's not chopping off the ears of police officers or treating Hanso swords with disrespect by leaving them in golf bags, Micahel Madsen is bring Sega's newest video game "Yakuza" to life with his unique voice.

The "Kill Bill" star is the voice of Futo Shimano, a vicious yakuza boss who uses brutality to achieve his selfish goals. Madsen isn't the only Hollywood star lending their voice to this visually spectacular game. Rachel Leigh Cook of "She's All That" fame plays Reina, the owner of a hostess bar whose secret love leads her down the road of betrayal. Michael Rosenblum and Eliza Dushku have also joined the "Yakuza" fray.

Our favorite is of course Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, whose take on Goro Majima is a far departure from the Jedi we have all come to love.

"Yakuza" is available in stores now.
