Ariana Grande's headlining set slayed at Coachella, and got an added boost by the long-awaited reunion of 4/5ths of her favorite boy band ... 'NSYNC.

Lance Bass, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick and JC Chasez joined Ariana onstage Sunday night during her song "Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored" -- which samples an old 'NSYNC hit -- then kicked the nostalgia into high gear by performing "Tearin' Up My Heart."

We broke the story of the surprise collab, including the fact Justin Timberlake wasn't going to be a part of it, but as you can see ... Grande filled in nicely for him.

At one point she announced to the crowd ... "I've been rehearsing my whole f**king life for this moment."

The big guest appearances during Ariana's set didn't stop with 'NSYNC -- Nicki Minaj also joined her and powered through some mic issues to do "Side To Side" and go out with a "Bang Bang."

Diddy and Mase took the stage with Grande, too.

Looks like JT missed out, but in his defense ... he just wrapped up his 115-show Man of the Woods tour the night before.

YG's party following his Coachella performance was busted up when someone opened fire outside the event -- causing a panic, just 2 weeks after his friend Nipsey Hussle's murder.

Hours after the rapper left the Coachella stage Sunday night, his after-party was going down at a nearby equestrian center. Our law enforcement sources say they got a call around 2 AM Monday morning for shots fired.

Witnesses told cops someone driving past the bash fired multiple shots -- however, once on the scene, cops found no victims and no evidence of the shooting.

The parking lot was crawling with cops who had to shut down the party while they investigated. We're told they have no suspects.

As you'd imagine, guests were on edge because the reported shots came so closely on the heels of Nipsey's shooting. YG -- who spoke at Nip's Staples Center memorial service -- paid tribute to his friend again during his Coachella gig.

'NSYNC already hit the stage with Ariana Grande, and that can only mean one thing ... Weekend 1 of Coachella is over ... but before you hang up your flower crowns and heart-shaped sunglasses, ya gotta see which celebs were in the crazy crowds.

Super hot model and DJ Chantel Jeffries peeled this orange number out, One Direction hunk Liam Payne gave getting ripped in the desert a whole new meaning and Victoria's Secret Angel Gizele Oliveira strapped herself into a slingsuit ... proving X truly marks the spot.

Idris Elba -- aka DJ Big Driis -- showed off his turntable skills at Coachella Saturday night ... and people were definitely interested in witnessing it firsthand.

The British actor headlined a set during Day 2 of the festival, coming onstage under the Yuma tent around 9 PM in front of what appeared to be a packed house of spectators.

In this up-close footage, obtained by TMZ, you can see just how far back the crowd went, and just how into the music they were. We're told Idris mostly stuck to house music during his two-hour show. He didn't bring any special guests out as far as we know -- but he really didn't need to ... the crowd was all in on his vibe. And, besides, it's Idris-Freakin'-Elba.

It's funny -- Idris stars in a new Netflix film called "Turn Up Charlie," in which he plays a professional DJ-turned-nanny ... with hilarious results. Obviously, he was perfect for that role.

Coachella may have seen better days in years past, but a bunch of celebs still made the best of it.

Leonardo DiCaprio is back in the desert for another year of Coachella -- and it looks like he's there with his latest boo thang ... who was apparently being a very good girl.

Leo was spotted late Friday night/early Saturday morning at the Poppy x Google Midnight Bloom after-party around 2:30 AM, where he was sporting his usual incognito getup ... a dark hoodie, a hat and sunglasses. It's really not even a disguise anymore, dude.

Anyway, the shindig drew a number of celebs ... we're told folks like Paris Hilton, Nick Young, Trae Young and even Cuba Gooding Jr. were there. And, of course, Leo and who we believe might be his 21-year-old Argentinian model (ex-?) flame, Camila Morrone.

In this video, obtained by TMZ, you see him stand up at one point and pet the girl who was sitting next to him ... right on the noggin. It's unclear if this is Camila, or some other chick he's cozied up with since ... but he's obviously comfortable enough to do a head pat.

Leo and Camila haven't been seen together in public since at least November of last year -- which seemed to cap off a whirlwind 2018 romance that also placed them at Coachella.

She got pretty handsy with him during a day party hosted by none than his former ex, Rihanna. And, the next day ... he returned the favor by clinging on to her for dear life.

Cardi B and Selena Gomez weren't the headliners Friday at Coachella, but you coulda fooled the crowd.

DJ Snake was performing on Day 1 and about an hour in Cardi B appeared followed by Selena.

BTW ... Selena hasn't performed for a year -- the last time we saw her onstage was when she joined Taylor Swift in May 2018 during her Reputation tour. Selena skipped Coachella last year. During the 2017 Festival, she made her relationship with The Weeknd public ... now her ex.

Cardi and Selena only performed one song -- "Taki Taki" ... the 2018 song they recorded with DJ Snake. Nevertheless, it was the highlight of the night.

Jaden Smith was all about fam Friday at Coachella ... bringing out the Kardashian's current arch-enemy -- one Jordyn Woods.

The 20-year-old took the stage with a Tesla overhead ... suspended by chains. As for why ... Jaden has a long-standing relationship with Tesla's creator -- Elon Musk.

The car was lowered to the stage, and Jaden performed atop the whip.

Towards the beginning of his set, Jaden paid homage to Nipsey Hussle before bringing his sister, Willow, out on stage. She also performed, singing "Icon" along with her brother.

As for Jordyn ... she jumped on stage and danced around the Tesla. She wasn't there long, but she was clearly there to make a point ... Jaden and his fam support her. BTW, Jordyn was surrounded by security the entire time she was on stage.

After the performance, Jordyn was hanging with a guy ... we don't know who, but he was all over her.

Solange Knowles is missing out on the year's biggest music festival -- Coachella -- because her band members were dropping like flies from illness.

Sources close to production tell TMZ ... members of Solange's band started getting sick, and she couldn't find the right mix of replacements. We're told Solange tried out several different musicians, but it just didn't work ... mainly because Solange and co. couldn't figure out how to work in all the new pieces.

We're told Solange didn't feel like she could deliver a great show for Coachella ... and she ultimately decided to pull the plug. Our sources also say she told a bunch of people she didn't want a half-assed show.

Solange -- who released her new album, "When I Get Home" last month -- was scheduled to perform alongside Kid Cudi, Weezer, Tame Impala, J Balvin and Aphex Twin. We're told she's devastated she had to cancel.

As you know, her sister, Beyonce, also canceled as a Coachella headliner, but her reason was different ... she was pregnant with twins.

4:29 PM PT -- Goldenvoice issued a statement about the worker who died Saturday, saying ... "Today, Goldenvoice lost a colleague, a friend, a family member. Our friend fell while working on a festival stage. It is with heavy hearts and tremendous difficulty that we confirm his passing. He has been with our team for 20 years in the desert and was doing what he loved. He was a hard-working and loving person that cared deeply about his team. As our lead rigger, he was responsible for the countless incredible shows that have been put on at the festival. We will miss him dearly."

There's already a death on Coachella's doorstep one week before the festival officially gets underway ... TMZ has learned.

A worker died Saturday morning at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, CA while he was helping set up one of the many stages at the venue. Eyewitnesses on the ground tell us the guy was climbing the stage scaffolding to do some rigging ahead of opening day next Friday.

It's unclear exactly how or why, but we're told the man fell about 60 feet to the ground -- as he wasn't clipped in, meaning he had no safety harness attached to a cable to prevent him from plummeting.

An Indio Police spokesperson confirms that a call was placed around 9:30 AM PT Saturday to report an industrial accident on the Coachella Concert grounds for somebody who'd fallen near the staging area. Police and fire units responded, but we're told the victim was pronounced dead on the scene.

The IPD rep says the exact circumstances surrounding the man's death is under investigation.

Coachella appears to have carried on without very many fatalities up until 2014, when a female festival goer died of a drug overdose ... which is believed to be one of the first -- if not, the only -- deaths to occur in Coachella's two-decade history.

We've reached out to Goldenvoice -- which puts on Coachella each year -- for comment ... so far, no word back.

Kanye West is changing his tune on Coachella -- now saying he'll be performing his Sunday Service at the festival ... and he'll be doing it Easter morning at the crack of dawn.

Ye made the announcement Sunday on a flight he and Kim were on, getting on the intercom to tell the passengers that he'd booked another show at Coachella. Kanye says he's gonna do his weekly Sunday service there on Easter Sunday -- so, weekend 2 -- and, apparently, it'll be an early morning gig ... sunrise, he says.

The news definitely comes as a surprise considering Kanye pulled on negotiations with Coachella event organizers earlier this year after he felt they were limiting his creativity ... by not giving him the stage he wanted.

As we first told you ... Ye refused to perform on a traditional 60x40 flat stage that all performers normally use when they headline, and Goldenvoice -- the company that runs Coachella -- wouldn't budge either. In the end, they went their separate ways.

Not so anymore though. It's unclear if Coachella's gonna open their gates early for Kanye to perform on stage -- Coachella usually kicks off around 11 AM each day -- or if he'll be grounded outside somewhere with his choir like he has been for the past few months.

Either way ... Ye's definitely got a lot of practice under his belt. He's been running a Sunday Service since January. And, it's been a hit with everyone who's attended.
