How talented is Jamie Foxx? Talented enough to smoothly slip in and out of his Jay-Z, Dave Chappelle and Mike Tyson impressions ... without skipping a beat.
The actor/singer/comedian/all-around-renaissance-man broke down the most famous, and hilarious, voices he's known for doing -- and it's masterful to watch. He was talking to WNBA star Candace Parker on IG Live about his method approach to getting in character, and explained he uses music to help achieve the perfect tone for each celeb.
Then came a rapid-fire series of impressions, which did not disappoint. Check it out ... he shows off Jigga, Kermit the Frog and Sammy Davis Jr. -- and they're all basically the same voice, with slightly different twists. We'll let Jamie explain.
After that, JF presents us with 2 takes of Chappelle -- young and current -- and he couldn't be more spot-on if he tried. Seriously, easy to see why this was always part of his stand up act.
The way Jamie Foxx describes the opening scene of the Mike Tyson biopic got me wanting to see it immediately. pic.twitter.com/helTPJCdN1
Finally, Jamie does his best Tyson ... which we're sure came in handy while he was portraying the iconic boxer for a new movie that's due to come out soon. He makes a stark distinction between people's caricature impersonation of Tyson and the real McCoy.
Yeah ... we smell another Oscar coming soon. Can't wait to see it.
1:19 PM PT -- Tekashi just streamed from in-home incarceration, setting an Instagram Live record with 2 million people tuning in.
UPDATE
6ix9ine trolled off the bat, bumping "Bad Boys" while toying with a pair of handcuffs.
UPDATE
Tekashi got a lot off his plate ... admitting to being a rat and justifying his snitching. He apologized for singing like a canary, questioned the street code and then bragged about his money, bling and music.
UPDATE
So, pretty much the same Tekashi.
UPDATE
12:05 PM PT -- Tekashi is proud of being a snitch ... he just flexed his ankle monitor in his new music video, which dropped following Friday morning's beef with Meek.
UPDATE
UPDATE
The video also has lots of twerking models and a cute pup.
Meek Mill believes there's only one thing Tekashi 6ix9ine should be doing on Instagram Live ... saying sorry for being a snitch and to all the people he harmed along the way.
The hip-hop star slammed his fellow rapper on Twitter Friday morning ... ahead of 69's first live social media appearance since he was released from prison and ordered to home confinement due to COVID-19 concerns.
Meek says ... "I hope that rat going live to apologize to the people he told on or the victim." He seems to be upset over Tekashi seemingly getting a pass on snitching from fans, and wants to remind people that another "rat" was allegedly responsible for the death of his friend, Nipsey Hussle, last year.
Mill's suggesting Nip's alleged killer, Eric Holder, had a history of being an informant just like 6ix9ine ... which is why he was on the streets in the first place.
The insinuation's pretty clear -- once a rat, always a rat ... and Meek's not buying into 6ix9ine's act.
Nevertheless, Tekashi's no longer behind bars for his crimes and is hyping up his Instagram Live show ... in typical boastful fashion.
He's also already fired back at Meek, replying ... "Imagine having a new born baby come into the world & be pressed about a Mexican with rainbow hair." As we reported, Meek's GF gave birth to a baby boy on his 33rd bday.
6ix9ine's hours away from going live, and a lot of people will be watching to see what he's gotta say. Ya gotta think Meek will be paying attention too.
Babyfaceis ready to reminisce about some of his greatest hits ... triumphantly returning to IG live to reveal stories from "Waiting to Exhale" especially for Mother's Day.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the iconic film, and the singer and mega-producer is gonna celebrate the hit-filled soundtrack ... which he produced. It was a huge female empowerment film, which is why Babyface is honoring it on Sunday. Shout out to Moms!!!
The 11-time Grammy Award winner joined us Thursday on "TMZ Live" to talk about his return appearance on Instagram Live. As you know, his Verzuz battle with Teddy Riley damn near broke IG, and Face told us that's when fans started clamoring for an 'Exhale' party.
The Sunday show starts at 8 PM Eastern, and aside from a few special guests from the movie -- Babyface will also drop his first song in 5 years, "When I Get To Heaven," an ode to his late mother.
Babyface has been thinking about life and death recently ... telling us he got super scared during his bout with COVID-19, and even contemplated writing a will.
As we reported ... Babyface tested positive last month, and he says the road to recovery was difficult and frightening.
Lily Allen seems like she's officially off the market ... because it looks like she's engaged to David Harbour, and she's got the rock to prove it.
Lily stoked engagement rumors once again Thursday, posting a sultry snap to her social media and bragging about her physique ... but a closer look reveals what appears to be an engagement ring, and yes it's on THAT finger.
One of Lily's 1.2 million eagle-eyed Instagram followers straight-up asked her in the comments if she's indeed wearing an engagement ring, and Lily's answer was telling ... she replied, "First rule of engagement club...."
So, there you have it, straight from the horse's mouth.
The Grammy-nominated singer and "Stranger Things" star are notoriously private about their relationship ... the couple only officially announced they were an item earlier this year after months of dating.
We reached out to reps for both Lily and David to confirm their engagement ... so far, no word back.
But, Lily's picture and comment kinda speak for themselves.
DJ Khaled is NOT a single man -- which he had to remind one lovely lady who tried ambushing him with a live twerking session on Instagram ... which he quickly shut down.
The guy went live on Instagram over the weekend, and like several of his contemporaries have been doing lately -- especially Tory Lanez -- DJK invited some folks in the comments to hop on and join his sesh for a one-on-one chat. Things quickly turned risque, though.
Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.
After accepting one woman's request to chat, he almost immediately regretted it ... 'cause the chick was half-naked and VERY prepared to twerk for Khaled on camera. You gotta feel for the guy, 'cause he was desperately trying to tell her to chill, that he's got a family, that he loves his fans ... but to please STOP 'cause she was clearly embarrassing him.
That didn't deter the determined dancer -- she kept at it, and even started pouring water on herself. Khaled had had enough ... he ended the chat. He wrote of the interaction, "I have love for everyone please take it easy when I’m on fan luv ig luv. Again I have love for everyone please lets be respectful nothing but love BLESS UP!"
He must've thought it was pretty funny to post individually, 'cause that's exactly what he did. Hopefully, the wife finds it just as amusing -- good luck, big dog!
Beyonce's remix of Megan Thee Stallion's hit, "Savage," has everybody feeling a bit better during the pandemic ... but especially the founder of an IG Live strip club she name-checks on the track.
Justin LaBoy's the guy who started Demon Time -- a virtual stripper stage where women dance for celebs and norms alike -- tells TMZ how stunned he was to find out Bey knows about his biz ... and felt compelled to give it a shout-out.
TMZ.com
If ya don't know ... Shaq, The Weeknd, Kevin Durant, Meek Mill, Drake, Lil Yachty, Yo Gotti, Diplo and Jake Paul have all signed in for Demon Time shows, but LaBoy says it took some time for it to be socially accepted. As he puts it, some celebs were using burner phones at first to watch the action.
Now that it has Beyonce's stamp of approval, though, LaBoy's expecting a big boost. Several million have already heard her sing, "Hips TikTok when I dance, on that Demon Time she might start an OnlyFans."
LaBoy says his new stripper service is the wave of the immediate future ... until there's a coronavirus vaccine. Watch his explanation -- it makes sense, especially in light of the expected changes at traditional strip clubs.
As we reported ... Bey's collab with Megan Thee Stallion is not only the talk of the music world, but it's going to a great cause. Both women are donating their share of proceeds to benefit Bread Of Life COVID-19 relief efforts in their hometown of Houston.
Contrary to popular belief, DJ Paul's "rap battle" with Bone Thugs-N-Harmony is NOT going down on "Verzuz" ... at least not yet, anyway.
The Three 6 Mafia MC tells TMZ ... his "Face Off" with the legendary Cleveland rap group has ZERO affiliation and is most definitely NOT a rip-off of Timbaland and Swizz Beatz's super-popular IG Live program "Verzuz."
Check out the video ... DJ Paul says the group's got zero beef with Bone Thugs. It's not even a battle ... it's more of a friendly celebration between 2 groups who have amassed more than 50 years of classic tracks combined.
Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.
As for how it got reported that Three 6 Mafia and Bone Thugs were the latest get for "Verzuz" ... after DJ Paul posted on Instagram the groups were going to "Face Off," multiple outlets ran with it assuming it was the latest "Verzuz" virtual rap battle.
It didn't help that DJ Paul reposted some of the headlines on his Instagram feed. But DJ Paul wants to make it crystal clear ... this is NOT a "Verzuz" production. That being said ... he says he'd LOVE to get down on the mic on "Verzuz." Just gotta pick up the phone.
Instagram's favorite dumbass, Supreme Patty, had a wild run-in with the law and got busted for gun possession, and cops say he didn't go easily either.
Patty -- who took credit for the record-breaking egg that beat Kylie Jenner for most likes -- was arrested Saturday outside Daytona Beach ... where cops say he was flying in his pickup truck at speeds of 100 MPH.
According to docs, obtained by TMZ, cops pulled SP over, ordered him out of the car and demanded he walk to them with his hands up. The cops say he was defiant, but eventually got to them ... and then further resisted when they cuffed him.
Cops say they searched his vehicle and found 2 firearms -- an AR-15 style pistol, and a Sig Sauer 9mm handgun. The police say Patty doesn't have a concealed carrying permit.
BTW, he's been known to post videos doing some pretty stupid stunts with guns ... including shooting a hole in a beer and then guzzling what's left of the can.
Patty was booked for felony carrying of a concealed firearm, misdemeanor resisting an officer and misdemeanor violation of an emergency order. Yep, they dinged him for breaking quarantine.
Patty, true to form, seemed pretty chipper about the whole arrest in his mug shot. He was released after posting $3,250 bond.
Tom Green's either up to his old tricks or just needs more sleep during the pandemic, but lucky for him, his fans are feeling compassionate these days ... especially his his old pal, Harland Williams.
Tom was on Instagram Live late Monday night when he appeared to conk out hard in the studio at his L.A. home. Apparently, Tom's fans and friends were concerned and began hitting up Williams ... who decided to drop by to make sure Tom was okay.
Check it out ... the camera's set up just right to catch Harland climbing over Tom's outside wall by his pool, then walking over with a flashlight to knock on the glass door to wake him up.
He popped up and seemed pretty confused, but Tom was clearly fine. Harland told Tom he got a ladder and came over because Tom wasn't responding to texts for 2 hours. Some fans watching even worried he might be dead.
Another viewer called the cops but by the time they got his address he was already awake and alert so they didn't need to go.
Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.
It's got all the earmarkings of a Tom Green prank -- albeit not a very funny one.
Real or not, Tom said he appreciated everyone's concern and eventually got some more sleep.
Jeff Ross couldn't stay away from what he does best -- roasting people on a big platform -- so he got right back to it with some newbie volunteers ... quarantine-style, of course.
The comedian held an Insta-Roast Saturday on IG Live, which didn't feature any big celebs like his usual roasts do -- instead, he picked out random users who were joining the chat to hop on up and have him take some light-hearted shots at them, impromptu and off the cuff.
Safe to say, the roasting did NOT disappoint -- Jeff didn't skip a beat in pinpointing the goofiest thing about anyone who was brave enough to let Jeff have at 'em. He made fun of a guy who apparently resembled the garbage man version of Boy George. Nice!
He also asked why one gal was bent forward on her elbows while talking to him, with Jeff asking if she was getting banged from behind. She laughed, and then showed off her BF, who was NOT doing that. He went on to tell one couple that they looked like they'd eaten all their toilet paper, while telling another woman she looked like she just got out of jail.
Everybody got a laugh out of it, and Jeff himself even noted he needed this ... sounds like he's going a little stir crazy too and wanted to get back to normal as safely as possible.
Looks like people were down with the digital roast -- if it becomes a regular thing, more power to him.
These SoCal dolphins are lit, y'all -- quite literally, and while it might look out of this world ... it's just simple bioluminescence.
The incredible nature scene played out Wednesday just after sunset in Newport Beach ... but the footage, captured by photographer Patrick Coyne, didn't start spreading like fire until it was posted Thursday night by a popular whale watching company.
Coyne, who also recently shot bioluminescent waves crashing the shore, said it was incredibly challenging capturing the dolphin vid ... trying to spot what you're looking for in pitch black conditions. It almost didn't happen.
As he put it, "We were out for a few hours and on our final stretch back we finally had 2 dolphins pop up to start the incredible glowing show."
So, what makes them glow? Well, obviously it's caused by algae in the water around the dolphins. Duh!!! (Yeah, we Googled).
According to National Geographic, bioluminescent phytoplankton is what gives the surf its electric blue glow. The bioluminescence could also be a form of self-defense for the algae.
Leslie Jordan is fast becoming a social media darling, but it's what he's NOT doing with his sudden IG fame that sets him apart ... especially in Hollywood.
The viral sensation joined us Wednesday on "TMZ Live" and we asked Leslie how he's been able to skyrocket from about 80,000 Insta followers to a whopping 3.5 million in only a matter of weeks.
Leslie says the recipe for success is pretty simple ... he's not looking to monetize his videos, he's just being himself -- a silly, funny, goofy, happy-go-lucky senior citizen. You can tell he's genuine, just listen to him talk about learning new IG terminology.
Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.
If you aren't among the millions of folks to recently discover Leslie's page in quarantine, you're missing out on his hilarious videos ... like his back scratch workout, which he breaks down for us in his own special way.
Prior to sheltering in place, Leslie was best known for his work on "Will and Grace" and "American Horror Story" ... but he tells us why he's not watching scripted shows or movies while he's in quarantine.
Besides, who needs scripted content when you've got hundreds of Leslie videos for free!!!
Teddy Riley and Babyface put their reading glasses back on for another round of IG Live battling, but even on take 2 ... the event was technology-challenged.
The two R&B icons hopped back on the 'Gram Monday night to pick up where they left off over the weekend -- which went down in a fireball in what proved to be a huge fail. Welp, fortunately, running it back turned out to be a bit more successful (the guys were actually able to play some music and hear each other this time) but eventually ... it came to a halt.
So here's the gist ... Teddy and Face were on the same page at first, and did exactly what artists are supposed to do for these Live battles -- namely, play their biggest hits back and forth, and let the audience tuning in to decide who takes the round. That went on for a solid hour -- IG Live only lets you broadcast for that long -- before the feed finally went dead.
The guys came back on for another session, but for one reason or another ... Teddy's feed cut out completely not too long after they booted back up -- which caused confusion. Babyface -- at first, not entirely sure why Teddy had hopped out -- eventually stopped down and logged off himself to go and see if he could get on Teddy's IG Live sesh.
At this point, it turned into a game of Who's On First -- Teddy had, indeed, started his own IG Live sesh, but was back with a full musical set-up with live instruments. As he was waiting for Face to join the session, he started playing music to kill time, and was going IN doing it. Sadly, he didn't realize Babyface was at the door asking to be let in -- Teddy was that distracted -- and finally, his team got through to him. Everyone in the comments was trying to tell Teddy too, BTW.
This is where the "breaking the Internet" part happened ... Teddy was not able to let Baby back into the chat, try as he did. People chalked it up to him being an elder and unable to figure out the tech, but that's not the case ... it was Instagram's fault. Their network was jacked up because of how many people -- several hundreds of thousands -- watching.
It got so bad, IG finally had to say, "We love how much you're all enjoying the #TeddyRileyvBabyface Live on Instagram! We're experiencing some technical difficulties on mobile apps but we're working on it. In the meantime, live is available on desktop!"
But, by then, the damage was done. Baby and Teddy cut the battle short ... again. At least this time, people got to hear them actually do their thang. Better than nothin' 🤷🏽♂️
Teddy Riley and Babyface's battle was the talk of social media Saturday night, but for all the wrong reasons ... and Teddy Riley's audio equipment is to blame.
The two music legends were supposed to square off as part Swizz Beatz and Timbaland's Instagram battle series ... and nearly 400k people were tuned in to watch it go down. Babyface was solo, set up in what looked like his home studio, and Teddy had something more elaborate ... with a microphone and crew around him.
The audio issues were immediate, Teddy's sound was muffled, ruining the timing and quality, while Babyface's sounded perfectly clear.
Teddy -- who had what appeared to be an audio crew with him -- took several pauses, trying to fix the tech issues ... but the sound never improved and the competition ultimately got canceled.
Fans were disappointed ... and the whole thing turned into a social media frenzy with memes and even tweets sent out by celebs mocking the whole thing.
The good news? Both Teddy and Babyface say they'll be back for round 2 of the competition as soon as Teddy can get his audio figured out.
The coronavirus can unleash a deadly pandemic, but it can't stop thirsty Instagram users from shooting their shot with a gorgeous sunset ... not even close.
Check out these photos TMZ got of a mass exodus Tuesday evening to catch the sunset in the L.A. neighborhood of Playa del Rey. It's on a hilltop overlooking the Pacific Ocean and as you can see, amateur photogs/models are still coming out in droves, despite the stay-at-home order.
It's pretty insane actually ... people were waiting in line in their cars with their hazards on -- all just to pull up to the perfect spot, briefly park, hop out and snap their mug in front with a sunset backdrop. It's like a line for a Disneyland ride.
Now, no one's gonna classify this as an "essential" trip out of your home. Yes, it was a gorgeous sunset on Tuesday, but securing likes and follows for the 'Gram seems slightly less important than say ... getting food or even toilet paper.
At any rate, it appears some of these IG warriors were attempting to be safe and courteous -- many were flaunting custom masks. We can't really tell if that was for protection from the virus or just to get social media shine.
The dynamic duo teamed up Tuesday night for an Instagram Live interview that was as bizarre as it was strategic. But, mostly, it was a vehicle for Cardi to vent to her beloved "Uncle Bernie."
The interview started with Bernie -- who in January encouraged Cardi to jump into politics -- asking Cardi how his nails look. The rapper quickly shot back with her trademark wit, saying she can tell he's been in quarantine. Hilarious.
But, then things got downright serious ... Cardi teed off on 45 -- she refused to mention Trump by name -- saying 45 doesn't need any help from Democrats to make himself look bad cause he makes himself look bad. Ouch.
Cardi -- an ardent Bernie supporter -- also took the opportunity to ask why uncle Bernie endorsed Joe Biden for president. Or ... as she framed it, "A lot of people like the youth, they don't rock with Joe Biden. I want you to explain to my platform, why are you endorsing him?"
And, there's the answer to why Bernie hopped on IG Live with Cardi, who has nearly 63M followers -- she provided a platform where Bernie can plea to his supporters to back Biden.
One day I’ll tell my grandchildren about the time I gaffe taped Bernie Sanders’ iPad to a cushion so he could talk with his hands while live streaming with Cardi B. pic.twitter.com/ggbqNBW7BM
