Not only is Christian McCaffrey an NFL mega-star who's dating a flaming hot supermodel (hi Olivia) ... he's also doing his part to help out during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Carolina Panthers star running back just announced the launch of his "22 and You" COVID-19 relief program -- which will raise money to support front-line medical workers including physicians, nurses and other hospital staff throughout the Carolinas.

The 23-year-old -- who wears #22 -- says he felt compelled to take action after watching these heroes risk their own lives to save others.

"I am moved by the heroic and selfless efforts of our frontline healthcare providers throughout the Carolinas and beyond. As such, I have decided to launch an effort to help them in their life-saving work."

CMC says he's teamed up with his partners at Lowe’s Home Improvement and Bose -- both companies are making significant donations -- and the funds will be directed to the North Carolina Healthcare Foundation and South Carolina Hospital Association Foundation.

Christian says he will match the donations from those companies -- which is a pretty big deal considering he's still in the middle of his 4-year, $17 million rookie contract.

Book worms are turning to a holy trinity to bring them light and guidance in the coronavirus pandemic ... Carrie Underwood, Jessica Simpson and Jesus Christ.

Here's the deal ... book sales are up across the board as more and more Americans are ordered to shelter at home to avoid spreading the virus, and Carrie and Jessica are two of the most popular authors.

Carrie's book, "Find Your Path: Honor Your Body, Find Your Soul," is No. 5 on the Top 50 list of best-selling books from all publishers ... according to NPD BookScan. From March 15-21, the start of the coronavirus outbreak, Carrie's book sold 10,741 copies.

Jessica ain't far behind ... her page-turner, "Open Book," is No. 8 on NPD BookScan's Top 50 list ... with 8,236 copies sold in the same time frame.

But, don't sleep on the Good Book ... as always, the Bible is super popular in times of crisis and uncertainty.

Folks at Tyndale House Publishers and LifeWay Christian Resources tell TMZ ... Bible sales are going strong as people look for ways to explore and deepen their faith in the face of COVID-19.

Tyndale House says Bible sales were up 55% this March compared to 2019, and most purchases are coming online.

Seems Carrie and Jessica are in pretty good company.

Disney isn't letting its most loyal customers off the hook because its parks are closed -- they're still getting charged, but the company's trying to make good.

The Mouse House sent an e-mail to its Annual Pass members this week -- who, BTW, shell out big bucks for these passes each year -- telling them their scheduled monthly payments will continue like normal. Mind you, all Disney theme parks around the world are closed due to the pandemic.

It's a pretty crappy situation -- Disney doesn't give people the option of canceling and getting their money back ... at a time when a lot of people are hurting for cash. We've heard of one family being forced to shell out hundreds each month on their passes, despite asking to have their payment obligations paused or completely axed outright.

A Disney operator told them the same thing this e-mail is saying ... no way out, pony up. That, of course, puts a lot of people in a tough spot, as they struggle to make ends meet right now.

Disney is offering a consolation ... Pass Holders will get the days they're missing out on now tacked on to the end of their expiration date.

As for the cost ... a top-end annual pass at Disney World comes in at $1295 (before tax) and top-end at Disneyland is $1449 ... or just over $105 per month after a downpayment of $179.

Airline carriers, cruise ships and hotels are pissing off would-be travelers seeking refunds in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic ... and most folks are s*** outta luck!!!

Here's the deal ... folks who had domestic and international vacations planned for March, April and May are running into the same problem ... they're asking for refunds from the airlines, cruises and hotels, but are mostly being told the only remedy is credits for future travel.

Our sources tell us Kenya Airways is NOT refunding anyone ... instead, we're told the airline is only offering travel credit good for one year from the date the original flight was booked.

It's bad news for a group of wanderlust women in Los Angeles who tell us they booked flights to Seychelles and Nairobi and lodging at Kenya's exclusive Giraffe Manor, which is also only offering credit good for up to a year.

The group says they booked their $3,000 roundtrip, multi-stop flights last August and were supposed to travel in March and April, but the virus' spread makes it impossible to keep the dates and reservations.

If they want to use the airline credit -- no refunds, remember -- the group must book and complete a new trip by August 2020. As for staying at Giraffe Manor -- a super-popular haunt for celebs -- the 1-year credit means they must compete with all the other people who also had trips canceled this year and those with reservations still in play.

Meanwhile, Priceline is so swamped with calls the travel agency is only handling inquiries on flights that are within the next 72 hours. For almost every major airline, it's taking at least 2 hours to get on the phone with a real person, and in some cases it's taking 2 days.

Oh and get this ... Carnival Cruises made a California grandpa fight and claw for a refund for a $7,500 family vacation with his wife, children and grandkids ... this after the 71-year-old man warned the cruise line he couldn't risk it with his health only to be offered credit for a future cruise.

The fam was supposed to set sail from Long Beach April 11, but Craig Morris wasn't about to set foot on the ship. Until this week, Carnival reportedly insisted Craig would not be refunded for the cost of the tickets and he fought the cruise line for 2 weeks trying to get his money back.

In the end, Carnival suspended all voyages until May 11 and the cruise line is finally telling Morris and other travelers they can opt for full refunds, but only after they pissed a bunch of customers off by only offering credits for future trips.

Ronald Reagan's Presidential Library and Museum is losing hundreds of thousands during the pandemic lockdown -- so it wants the public to extend a helping hand ... filled with cash, preferably.

It's a pretty sad situation, actually -- a letter was recently sent to all museum members, asking for some help during the coronavirus-mandated shutdown. The Library's doors have been closed since March 13.

The letter, obtained by TMZ, says it bluntly -- the library is bleeding cash daily, about $150k per week.

Give it a read ... the library's executive director, John Heubusch, says without its usual flow of visitors and revenue from ticket sales and on-site vendors ... it just can't stay afloat for much longer.

The library, which notes it receives zero federal funding, says any size donation from members would be greatly appreciated right now.

They're serious about all donations being helpful -- the low-end suggested pledges are $10, $15 and $20.

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are cutting more fat checks to help coronavirus relief efforts ... and this time they're donating to folks on the front lines.

Ryan and Blake just donated $400,000 to four New York hospitals that are getting hit hard by the pandemic ... TMZ has confirmed.

The famous couple just made personal $100,000 donations to 4 hospitals getting slammed with COVID-19 cases ... NYU Hospital, Mount Sinai, Northern Westchester and Elmhurst.

As you know ... New York is considered the epicenter of coronavirus in the United States, and hospital staffs are working around the clock to fight the virus and save lives.

We're told Ryan and Blake are also encouraging folks across America to help their local hospitals, healthcare workers and communities during this difficult time.

It's the second major donation from Ryan and Blake ... earlier this month, they donated $1 million to Feeding America and Food Banks Canada.

Rihanna, Kylie Jenner and more have also opened their wallets for coronavirus relief ... as well as Conor McGregor, Drew Brees and Steve Ballmer, who is pledging $25 million.

Some internet scumbags are trying to profit off the misery of others in the middle of the pandemic -- trying to hawk prescription meds on eBay before they get caught.

We found at least 2 listings on eBay for albuterol inhalers, a bronchodilator that relaxes muscles in the airways and increases airflow to the lungs. People who suffer from asthma rely heavily on this device ... and it's available by prescription only.

But, with the mounting cases of COVID-19 across America, albuterol has also been one of the first lines of defense in emergency rooms to combat one of the virus' main symptoms ... respiratory distress. That strategy is increasing demand for albuterol inhalers.

With insurance, the inhalers can cost as little as $5 and between $30-$60 without insurance. But, a couple of fools are clearly trying to gouge the public, listing them on eBay for $122 and $150.

But, there's one problem ... eBay explicitly prohibits the sale of medical devices that require a prescription. We've reached out to the site to see if it plans to remove the listings.

While the coronavirus has upended the world and created a new way of living, it's also causing a frenzy with folks looking to cash in on the pandemic ... who are racing to lock down the rights to the oft-heard term, "social distancing."

TMZ did some digging, and since March 15 -- when U.S. cities began to really understand the threat of COVID-19 and implement guidelines to help stop the spread -- more than 10 people and companies have filed trademark applications for "social distancing."

According to the docs ... the trademark types range from beer and CBD oil to common merchandise products like t-shirts, hats, signs, stickers and games.

There's also one applicant looking to slap "social distancing" on an online photography school.

A couple notable names in the hunt for a trademark include the creators of the popular game, What Do You Meme? -- which unsurprisingly wants the rights to make "Social Distancing: The Game" -- and Maxx Sports and Entertainment ... which reps a bunch of famous athletes and brands.

So, prepare to hear a lot more about social distancing in the coming weeks, and if these shrewd business folks get their wish ... long into the future.

Drew Brees is accustomed to New Orleans bouncing back from tragedy, and he firmly believes the city will do so again after its current all-out war with the coronavirus ends.

The New Orleans Saints superstar QB tells TMZ, he and his wife, Brittany, didn't hesitate to pledge $5 million to the state Louisiana once they saw how devastating the pandemic was becoming. As Drew put it, "I'm willing to do whatever we need to do to get past this, to come on the other side."

As we reported, Drew and Brittany's 7-figure donation will provide meals for out-of-school children and the elderly while state resources are focused on COVID-19 patients. They did their research too, before diving in with their immense support.

It's that kind of generosity that brought "Today" host Hoda Kotb to tears last week ... and Drew says he fully understands why she got so choked up. It's about the spirit of the people of New Orleans and its surrounding state.

Drew's first season with the Saints was 2006 -- the year after Hurricane Katrina -- and from their first emotional game back in the Superdome to his charitable work off the field, he's been a part of the city making comeback after comeback.
