Soccer's Christian Eriksen Breaks Silence After Medical Emergency 'I Won't Give Up!'

Just days after he collapsed on the soccer field, Christian Eriksen is speaking out -- vowing to fight in his recovery while doctors continue to hunt for the cause of the medical emergency.

"'Thank you, I won't give up," Eriksen said in a statement issued through his agent to the Italian media outlet, Gazzetta dello Sport.

"I feel better now -- but I want to understand what's happened."

The statement continued, "I want to say thank you all for what you did for me."

As we previously reported, the 29-year-old went into cardiac arrest during Saturday's Denmark vs. Finland game in Copenhagen.

Emergency medial personnel raced onto the field to treat him -- and he was eventually resuscitated with a defibrillator.

Eriksen was transported to a nearby hospital where he continues his recovery. He's currently in stable condition.

The Denmark team doctor, Morten Boesen, spoke with the media on Sunday and addressed the seriousness of Eriksen's situation in the seconds after the soccer star collapsed.

"He was gone," Boesen said ... "And we did cardiac resuscitation. And it was cardiac arrest."

He added, "How close were we? I don’t know. We got him back after one defib. That’s quite fast."

As for what caused the incident, Boesen said specialists are still trying to figure that out.

"I’m not [a] cardiologist, so the details about why it happened and further, I will leave to the experts."

Bottom line ... Eriksen seems to be on the road to recovery, which is a miracle considering how scary things looked on Saturday.

Get well soon.

Danish Soccer Star Christian Eriksen Collapses on Field Suffered Cardiac Arrest

UPDATE

11:33 AM PT -- 6/13 -- The Danish team doctor confirmed that Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest during his emergency on the field. He's stable now and seems to be doing well, but it's unclear if or when he'll return to playing condition.

UPDATE

10:34 AM PT -- UEFA put out a statement, "Following the medical emergency involving Denmark’s player Christian Eriksen, a crisis meeting has taken place with both teams and match officials and further information will be communicated at 19:45 CET. The player has been transferred to the hospital and has been stabilised."

UPDATE

10:29 AM PT -- According to reports, Erikson was seen raising his hand and appeared conscious as he was being taken off the field -- which seems to suggest he might be okay. Thank goodness. 👏🏽

Christian Eriksen -- a Danish soccer player, who's one of the stars on the national team -- just had a frightening emergency during the first round of the UEFA European Championship ... collapsing on the field and requiring immediate medical attention.

The 29-year-old midfielder fell to the ground Saturday during Denmark's Euro 2020 match against Finland, toward the end of the first half. He was jogging back and about to receive a ball being thrown to him from one of his teammates, when all of a sudden ... Eriksen toppled over without provocation -- not being touched by another player or anything.

Everyone around him instantly recognized he was suffering an emergency and called for the ref to stop the game -- while also waving on team doctors and other first-responders on hand. Footage was captured from the terrifying moment ... and it's clear he'd lost consciousness.

Reports say CPR was rendered to Eriksen on the spot before he was carried off a stretcher for further treatment. His team -- including players from the other side -- were notably concerned, with a majority of them taking a knee out of respect ... a tradition in soccer.

His teammates also linked arms around Ericksen and formed a wall of sorts -- seemingly to give him privacy while he was being tended to. No word yet on his status or what might've caused the collapse. Of course, everyone is sending their thoughts and prayers.

Dog Bites Woman Eyelid Ripped Off by Chihuahua ... Horrific Injury Photos!!!

Kelsey Salmon's trip to get her eyelashes done ended in the worst possible way ... with a little dog attacking her and biting off the finished product, along with her entire left eyelid!!!

The photos are brutal -- that's a warning for the queasy -- but not as brutal as the experience the 23-year-old from Atlanta has been through since going to a lab technician she found on Instagram.

According to Kelsey ... her normal lash lady was booked, so she went to a lash tech who worked out of her home ... and had a pet chihuahua.

Kelsey says the dog jumped up on her lash bed while she was getting her lashes done, she was petting it ... and everything was fine. But, when she was done, she says she sat up and the dog was on the floor looking up at her.

"Then, out of nowhere -- it happened so fast that I didn't have time to pull back -- he jumped up, bit me in the face and broke my eyelid off."

What Kelsey describes next is a horrific scene of blood and chaos as the ambulance was called, and she was rushed to the ER. After hours of waiting, she says she had to go to another hospital for surgery ... and miraculously, they were able to successfully reattach it.

To make this all worse, Kelsey was getting her lashes done for a birthday trip to Hawaii when this all went down. Fortunately, she still got to go, but with her left eye completely sewn shut ... and she says the doctors told her it could take up to a year to fully heal.

Kelsey's still looking on the bright side, through her one good eye -- "I'm so lucky he didn't grab onto my actual eye because that could have been a thousand times worse."

Irad Ortiz Jr. Horse Jockey Miraculously OK ... After Horrifying In-Race Fall

Jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. was thrown off his horse and kicked in the head by another during a race Thursday ... but somehow, the dude miraculously avoided serious injuries.

The rider's agent, Steve Rushing, announced the good news on Friday ... saying that despite the horrifying fall, Ortiz Jr. will only need to miss a couple weeks from his job.

"He said he felt better today, than he did last night," Rushing told Daily Racing Form. "I told him I don’t know what brand of helmet you have, but make sure you get another one."

Rushing added Ortiz Jr. needed 6 stitches in his head and 5 in his arm ... but is expected to make a full recovery in a matter of days.

It's all quite frankly incredible, given just how gnarly the accident was.

Footage from the track showed as Ortiz Jr. was coming down the stretch ... his horse stumbled and bucked the rider to the ground.

When Ortiz Jr. hit the dirt, he was then kicked in the head by a trailing horse ... and ultimately needed to be stretchered off the track.

Ortiz Jr. was set to ride Known Agenda in Saturday's Belmont Stakes ... but he'll miss the event now. A replacement rider has not yet been named.

Get well soon!

NHL's Jake Evans Stretchered Off Ice After 'Dirty' Hit ... Teammate Calls Play 'Disgusting'

Canadiens player Jake Evans was forced to leave the ice on a stretcher Wednesday after a violent hit ... and his teammates are now calling the play both "dirty" and "disgusting."

The incident all went down late in the third period of Game 1 of Montreal's playoff series with Winnipeg ... when Evans scored a wraparound, empty-net goal.

Immediately after the puck crossed the red line, though, he was demolished by Jets player Mark Scheifele ... and Evans hit the ice HARD.

You can see in footage of the play, Evans landed face first ... and laid motionless on the ice while Canadiens players raced in to defend him.

While Montreal coach Dominique Ducharme said Evans did NOT need a trip to the hospital, Ducharme did say Evans still needed to undergo further evaluation after the Canadians' 5-3 win.

And, Evans' teammates were NOT happy about any of it ... even though Scheifele was hit with a penalty and ejected.

Forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi told reporters after the game the hit was "disgusting" ... while defenseman Joel Edmundson called it a "dirty" move.

"If he gets back in the series," Edmundson said of Scheifele, "we're going to make his life miserable."

Game 2 of the series kicks off in Winnipeg on Friday night.

'Flipping Out' Star Jeff Lewis The Eyes Have It!!! Says Eyelid Surgery Recovery's Going Well

Jeff Lewis has nothing to flip out about following cosmetic surgery to his eyelids ... because he seems to be having a blast documenting his totally chill recovery.

The "Flipping Out" star shared a couple of, umm ... unique looks over the holiday weekend as he's recuperating from the procedure to his lower eyelids.

The first one where he's resting on the couch with frozen peas on his eyes as his daughter tends to him. Jeff captioned the photo, "Recovery is going well."

Then on Monday, Jeff posted a "Day 3 of Recovery" pic of himself lounging on his patio with most of his face still wrapped in gauze ... but wearing shades. He paired it with Sheryl Crow's "Soak Up the Sun."

Last week on his SiriusXM radio show, Lewis explained that the "fat repositioning" eyelid surgery should make him look more youthful and rested.

He said, "This is kind of a cutting-edge procedure. Normally, they'll suck out the fat, but this doesn't require folding of the skin or stitching or pulling. They go inside my eye lid but it doesn't change the shape of your eye."

All that being said, Jeff added ... "It's not like a huge, big difference."

We'll see soon!

NHL star John Tavares Back On Ice ... Just 1 Week After Horrifying Head Injury

Incredible scene during Maple Leafs' workouts Thursday ... John Tavares was back on the ice just 1 week after severely injuring his head -- and he looked GOOD!!!

Tavares took a flying knee to the face last Thursday ... and the damage was so bad, the 30-year-old Toronto captain had to spend the night in the hospital.

But, great news, Tavares is already back on the ice ... reporters shot video of the dude skating around the Toronto rink Thursday morning as if nothing had happened!!

Check out the clip, Tavares appeared to be moving just fine ... ripping slap shots and weaving around the ice no problem.

According to TSN's Kristen Shilton, Tavares' on-ice work lasted about 20 minutes ... before he eventually headed back into the locker room.

It's unclear if this means a return to actual gameplay is nearing for Tavares ... last week, the Leafs said in a statement John would be out "indefinitely."

Toronto, though, is currently leading its playoff series over Montreal, 3-1 ... and if Thursday's skate sesh is any indication, it seems very possible John could be back for Round 2 of the postseason if the Leafs are able to close the Canadians out.

Braves' Marcell Ozuna Severely Mangles Hand Sliding Into 3rd ... Out 6 Weeks

UPDATE

2:14 PM PT -- Snitker said Ozuna fractured both his fingers ... and the Atlanta manager is now expecting his slugger to be sidelined for the next month and a half.

UPDATE

"He fractured his ring and middle finger and it'll be around 6 weeks," Snitker told reporters Wednesday afternoon. "That's significant time to be without a big player on your team."

UPDATE

Ozuna posted in Spanish on his Instagram story that he's feeling well ... and is hopeful to return in that six-week timeline.

WARNING: LOOK AWAY IF YOU'RE SQUEAMISH!!!

Atlanta Braves star Marcell Ozuna JACKED UP his hand sliding into a base during a game Tuesday night ... and there's worry he could now miss significant time over it all.

The gnarly injury all went down in the 3rd inning of the Braves game against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park ... when Ozuna was trying to avoid a tag at third base.

In video of the play, you can see as the ATL outfielder went head-first into the bag ... his hand got caught on Red Sox star Rafael Devers' left foot.

Ozuna's fingers were crunched so badly at impact, TWO of them dislocated -- and the digits were apparently so wonky after the collision, players on the field had to look away!

Braves manager Brian Snitker said after the game the ring finger AND the middle finger on Ozuna's left hand were popped out of place ... and he's being sent back to Atlanta for further evaluation.

"I saw him," Snitker said. "He had splints on [the fingers]. He wasn't feeling real bad, but it did them both. So, they're just going to make sure everything's good in there."

Snitker continued, "Hopefully it's just, you know, put them back [in place] and he's a little stiff for a few days."

Ice up, Marcell ... and get better soon!

Indians' Zach Plesac Breaks Thumb 'Aggressively' Taking Off Shirt ... Out Indefinitely

The Cleveland Indians will be without star pitcher Zach Plesac for the foreseeable future ... and it's all 'cause the guy took of his shirt "aggressively."

For real.

Manager Terry Francona just made the bizarre announcement Tuesday ... saying Plesac broke the thumb on his throwing hand undressing earlier this week -- and is now going straight to the injured list.

"He was, I think, probably rather aggressively ripping off his shirt and he caught it on his chair,” Francona told media members.

"It was pretty swollen [Monday] so we sent him to get X-rays."

A broken digit on Plesac's throwing hand could cost the pitcher weeks -- if not months -- of the season, but Francona said they don't expect to have an official timetable for his return until the 26-year-old sees more specialists later this week.

"We're not going to know any more other than he is an [injured list]," Francona said. "We will get a lot more information [Wednesday]."

Of course, it's a weird injury ... but it's shockingly not that weird given the strange baseball injuries already this season.

You'll recall, Braves starter Huascar Ynoa broke his hand punching a bench in frustration ... while A's starter Jesus Luzardo injured his hand playing video games.

Maybe we be a little bit careful when it comes to our throwing hands, guys?

'Wahlburgers' Henry 'Nacho' Laun Hospitalized After Being Found Unconscious

Henry "Nacho" Laun, famous for eating massive portions on "Wahlburgers," is fighting for his life in the hospital after being found unconscious.

Sources close to Laun tell us the reality star was on a road trip from Boston to Cape Cod when he made a pit stop at a gas station Wednesday. We're told a customer at the gas station noticed Laun was unconscious in his vehicle and called 911.

Laun was rushed to a local hospital where he remains. His exact condition is unclear, but one thing is for sure ... we're told he's in bad shape. One source tells us he's in a coma, and the underlying condition is serious.

A friend of Laun's tells us his health leading up to the medical emergency wasn't great ... but it's unclear what led to the event.

We tried to get in touch with his family, but Henry's been estranged from them for years.

A fan favorite on "Wahlburgers," Nacho is one of the original members of Mark Wahlberg's entourage and he's known to never shy away from an eating challenge.

We reached out to his lawyer, James Neyman, who declined to comment.

John Keller CMU QB Out Of Hospital ... 1 Month After Shooting

Amazing news ... Central Michigan quarterback John Keller has pulled through after being shot in the chest last month -- and he's now heading home from the hospital!!

The 20-year-old athlete's chances of making it to this point appeared VERY grim less than 4 weeks ago ... after his family said he was "fighting for his life" after being struck by gunfire at a party in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.

But Keller -- who required a ventilator and a lengthy stay in the ICU as part of his recovery process -- has finally been discharged, and he couldn't be happier about it!!

"Very thankful to be heading home today," Keller wrote on his Twitter page on Friday.

"First, I have to thank god and I want to thank all of you for the prayers and support as they have been answered on this tough road. Thank you Hurley [Medical Center] for saving my life."

Keller's dad added, "John is headed home today!! God is Great!"

As we previously reported, Keller and another CMU student were shot at an apartment complex on April 24 after police say an altercation broke out at the event.

Cops say Kenneth Thomas was involved in the dispute ... left the party to get a gun from his car, and then came back and shot Keller and the other student.

Officials say Thomas has since been arrested and hit with 10 charges -- and is facing SERIOUS time behind bars if convicted.

As for Keller, his football future remains up in the air at this point ... though his CMU team did shout him out with heart emojis after learning of Friday's great news.

NHL Star John Tavares Discharged from Hospital After Taking Flying Knee To Face

UPDATE

7:58 AM PT -- The Maple Leafs have issued a statement on Tavares -- saying he was discharged from the hospital Friday morning.

UPDATE

"He was thoroughly examined and assessed by the neurosurgical team at St. Michael's Hospital and the club's medical director," the team added.

UPDATE

"He was kept overnight for observation and is now resting at home under the care and supervision of team physicians. Tavares will be out indefinitely."

VERY scary moment on the NHL ice Thursday night ... Toronto Maple Leafs star John Tavares took a flying knee to the face -- and needed a stretcher to leave the rink.

The terrifying moment all went down in the 1st period of the Leafs' playoff tilt vs. the Montreal Canadians ... when Corey Perry accidentally slammed his knee into Tavares' head.

The play was violent ... you can see as Tavares was going down to the ice, his face collided HARD with Perry -- who was in a full sprint.

The ensuing moments were horrifying, because as trainers tried to tend to Tavares -- his body went limp and fell backward.

The 30-year-old -- who's in the middle of a 7-year, $77 MILLION contract with Toronto -- ultimately was strapped to a stretcher and taken to the hospital for further evaluation.

Leafs' coach, Sheldon Keefe, provided some good news on Tavares after the game, saying his star player was "conscious and communicating well" and adding that initial tests had "come back clear."

"I've experienced a lot of different things, a lot of tough injuries like that in my time,'' Keefe said. "In an empty building like that, it's probably the most uncomfortable situation I've been a part of on the ice."

"It was really tough to get through."

Tavares -- the Leafs' captain -- is considered one of the best players in the NHL ... he's tallied 364 career goals and 455 career assists in his 12 seasons in the league.

Get well soon, John.

MLB's Kevin Pillar Still Swollen, Bloody And Bruised 3 Days After Taking Fastball To Face

It's been 3 days since Kevin Pillar was drilled in the nose by a 94-MPH fastball ... and yeah, his face still looks like hell.

The MLB star showed off another selfie of the battle wounds he suffered after Jacob Webb accidentally pounded his mug with a heater during the Mets-Braves game on Monday night ... and it's still VERY bad.

You can see in the pic, Pillar's got two awful black eyes ... and the scrape on his nose is still bloody.

His whole face, meanwhile, is puffed up like a marshmallow -- but somehow, the dude still appears to be in great spirits.

"For those who have been asking: Still feeling good," the 32-year-old Mets outfielder captioned his pic.

"Ready to get my nose functional again so I can breathe out of it. Will be back soon!"

As we previously reported, the Mets say Pillar suffered multiple nasal fractures after he was hit by the pitch ... and have said he's meeting with doctors and specialists to see how to proceed with the injury going forward.

Pillar, meanwhile, said the day after the incident he wanted to get back to the field ASAP.

Tough dude, man.

LeBron James I Saw '3 Rims' On Game-Winning Shot ... Due To Eye Injury

EYE COULDN'T SEE
Los Angeles Lakers

LeBron James says he was damn near BLIND during his game-winning shot Wednesday night ... explaining to reporters his eye injury had him seeing "3 rims!"

The Lakers superstar had been poked in the left peeper just minutes before he uncorked a 3-pointer to beat the Warriors in their play-in game at Staples ... and Bron said the injury was so bad, he barely had any vision when he pulled up for the big shot.

"The first thing I did when KCP kicked it out, I looked at the shot clock," LeBron told reporters after his team's huge 103-100 victory.

"The second thing I saw was three rims from being poked in the eye on that previous possession when I drove to the hole and then in transition. So, I just aimed for the middle one."

The shot was incredible -- it was about 5 feet beyond the 3-point line -- and when ya factor in the pressure AND what his face had just gone through ... it's pretty big time.

Even Drake loved it!!!

As for the injury going forward, LeBron was clearly fortunate to have escaped serious issues ... 'cause after he was jabbed by Draymond Green on the possession prior to the game-winner, things did NOT look good for L.A. or its superstar.

But, LeBron -- with his eye clearly watering and swelling -- said after the game he expects to be all right as the Lakers move on into the playoffs.

#Phew.

MLB's Kevin Pillar Drilled In Face By 94-MPH Fastball Shows Battle Scars W/ Media

UPDATE

3:23 PM PT -- Kevin Pillar is tough as nails -- the Mets outfielder is back speaking with the media less than 24 hours after the scary incident ... showing off his battle scars after being hit in the face with a fastball.

UPDATE

Pillar said he'll "be fine" and knows Webb didn't intentionally try to hit him.

UPDATE

"I know he feels bad, I know me and him have talked last night, today," Pillar said. "I'm almost more worried about him than I am myself."

UPDATE
UPDATE

"I know I saw his reaction and I know how tough that could be on someone who feels responsible for someone getting injured."

UPDATE

Seriously so tough. Get well soon, Pillar.

UPDATE

6:57 AM PT -- The Mets said in a statement Tuesday morning, Pillar suffered "multiple nasal fractures" and will require further testing and meetings with doctors to figure out his next steps in recovery.

Horrifying moment in the Mets vs. Braves game Monday night ... NY outfielder Kevin Pillar was drilled in the face by a 94-MPH pitch, and he was immediately raced to the hospital.

The Mets star was at the plate for an at-bat in the 7th inning ... when Atlanta pitcher Jacob Webb unleashed a fastball that made a beeline straight for his eye socket.

Kevin, a 32-year-old who's known as one of the toughest dudes in the MLB, couldn't duck out of the way ... and was hit flush right in the middle of his face.

Pillar crumpled to the ground ... and you can see in video and pictures, blood was pouring out of what appeared to be multiple areas of his face.

But, after several moments on the ground, Pillar was able to get up and walk off the field under his own power ... though Mets manager Luis Rojas said his player required an immediate trip to the hospital for testing.

Fortunately, while the specific damage done to Pillar's face is currently unknown, it seems Pillar believes he'll eventually be all right.

The guy tweeted after the game, "Thanks to everyone that has reached out! Scary moment but I’m doing fine! #RBI #gamewinner."

Everyone on the field -- from Webb to Pillar's teammates -- were all shaken up over the pitch ... and even though the Mets went on to win, 3-1, the guys were visibly upset afterward.

"He gets hit by a pitch, and the last thing I'm thinking about is touching home plate," said Mets player James McCann, who scored as a result of Pillar's hit by pitch.

"Our thoughts and prayers are definitely with him."

Get well soon, Kevin.

Nick Jonas I Cracked My Rib in Bike Incident

THE SHOW MUST GO ON
NBC

Nick Jonas says he cracked a rib taking a spill on a bicycle, but he's on the mend.

Nick revealed the extent of his injuries Monday night on NBC's "The Voice," saying he also suffered a few other bumps and bruises, and it hurts to laugh. We're sure Blake Shelton will go easy on him, and by "easy" we mean ... not at all.

TMZ broke the story ... Nick was injured late Saturday night while filming a project, and it was serious enough that he needed medical attention at a nearby hospital.

We were told he was released and back home by Sunday, and wouldn't miss his scheduled Monday appearance on "The Voice."

Remember ... the 28-year-old actor/singer suffered a hand injury in 2018, the result of a post-show workout in Mexico. He posted a pic of that injury at the time, showing bandages and a beer.

He's playing this rib injury much closer to the vest, though. Neither Nick, nor anyone connected to him, will say exactly what he was filming when he got hurt.

While everyone's trying to keep it top secret, there is a report he and his famous brothers are shooting a competition show for NBC ... so, it's possible he was filming something for that when the injury happened.
