Liam Payne's shaking off his boy band roots by hooking up with Wiz Khalifa and Juicy J ... and the result is way more Timberlake and Jay Z than anything One Direction ever did.

TMZ's obtained the new track called, "You" -- one of 5 Liam's laid down with producer TM88 (from 808 Mafia) and Juicy J -- and you'll hear the 1Der singing the hook.

As we reported back in January, Liam's got flow too ... we're told you'll hear him rapping, as well as singing, when his solo album drops.

Sorry, One Direction fans ... we're shutting down your #Babygate fake baby conspiracy once and for all.

We got Louis Tomlinson out to lunch Thursday in Calabasas, and the pics prove his 2-and-a-half month old son Freddie is a living, breathing little tyke -- and not just a prop.

This has become a thing -- 1D fans are flooding social media with various #babygate conspiracy theories as to why the baby can't be real. They think Louis and his team are photoshopping images and using dolls to fake out the public.

So, here's Exhibit A -- watch and LISTEN to baby Freddie crying out. THIS is a real baby.

One Direction got Sony so excited the music company paid a wad of cash for the rights to one of their hits ... problem is, Sony sent the check to the wrong company and they won't give it back!

Here's the low down, which is hysterical to everyone but Sony. It licensed the 1D hit, "C'mon, C'mon," along with 2 other songs, for $65k. The company that owns the rights to the song is called Family Affair Productions.

Slight problem ... Sony claims it mistakenly sent the check to a company called Family Affair Music, which cashed it!

According to a new lawsuit, Sony claims it has been asking Family Affair Music for the money back, but it's fallen on deaf ears.

Louis Tomlinson turned heads while putting in quality time with his 2-month-old son because, let's face it, it's not everyday you see a One Direction member pushing around a stroller.

Louis pushed Freddie Thursday around the Calabasas Commons ... and made a stop at Barnes & Noble. Hopefully starting him off with the classics like "Goodnight Moon" or "Everyone Poops."

Louis Tomlinson and Briana Jungwirth have reached a shaky temporary settlement in their custody war ... avoiding a courtroom showdown by a matter of hours.

We've learned lawyers for the One Direction singer were going to court Friday morning armed with legal docs and their famous client, asking a judge to formally establish paternity on Louis' part and give him access to his 1-month-old son, Freddie.

TMZ broke the story ... Briana was not giving Louis access to their kid and the dispute was over money. We're told under the temporary settlement, he will have access to the child for several hours at a time during the week, but he will not have any overnight visits.

We're told until a short time ago, Louis was paying Briana's expenses but there was no set amount -- it varied from week to week. Things went south when they tried to establish a set monthly amount ... she wanted way more than he was willing to give.

Our sources say the 2 parents have agreed to a temporary custody arrangement while their lawyers hammer out something formal ... both with custody and child support.

Louis Tomlinson has lawyered up to wage a custody war, because he says his baby mama is not letting him see their kid ... TMZ has learned.

Louis Tomlinson's newborn son's name was the first adventure in co-parenting for him and baby mama Briana Jungwirth.

As we've reported, the kid's name is Freddie Reign Tomlinson and our One Direction source tells us Louis picked out the Freddie part, while Briana came up with the royal-sounding middle name.

No rhyme or reason for Freddie, we're told Louis just liked the ring of it and Briana didn't object.

As for Reign, we're told Briana wanted something earthy, but thought Rain sounded too girly ... so she went with the more kingly version.

Briana is telling her friends she's not using the baby as a meal ticket ... getting help is fine, but she insists she won't get greedy.

Louis was out in Beverly Hills Friday, making a quick stop at a sunglasses shop -- 'cause, really ... what's cuter than a baby in shades? The photog asked about a possible baby name, but Louis played it coy.

Briana's doing well and still at the hospital with the baby. We're told she's seen all the fake baby pics posted by 1D fans today, but rest assured ... they're all bogus.

Baby hasn't done any photoshoots. Yet.

There's a new generation of One Direction ... Louis Tomlinson and his former GF have a baby boy.

Briana Jungwirth gave birth this week in L.A. It's the first child for both of them -- Louis is 24 and Briana's 23 -- and the first kid for any of the 1Ders. No word on a name yet.

It's unclear if Louis was in town for the birth. He and Briana only dated briefly before she got pregnant, but we're told they've gotten much closer during the pregnancy ... especially after Louis made a special trip to L.A. to hang with her family over the summer.

Here's the kicker ... everyone who's heard the material says Liam's an unbelievable rapper. He's already got one up on a lot of MCs because he didn't need a pen or pad to write down his verses -- he opted for freestyle.

Liam's formula of singing the hook and rapping the verse sounds a lot like some guy named Drake.

No pressure.
