The Spice Girls have a major advantage leading up to their forthcoming reunion tour -- they can still hawk A LOT of gear bearing their name ... some of it old, but still new.

We did some digging, and it turns out the Spice Girls have a live trademark and exclusive rights to use their band name on a bunch of tour merch.

We broke the story ... the Spice Girls are planning to kick off a reunion tour by late summer that'll span across the UK and then the U.S. All 5 girls are involved.

Some stuff they can peddle includes your run-of-the-mill tour must-haves -- T-shirts, jackets, belts, books, binders and lots of other items like that. But get this ... the trademark is so old, they can also sell things like "cassette recorders," "compact disc players," and "video game joysticks."

They filed for this specific trademark back in 1997, and recently filed to renew it through 2023. Still ... they may want to add some of the latest technology.

These kids are WAY past the analog years ... and they have no problem telling you what they want ... what they really, REALLY want.

Mel B is so damn good at the promotion game, she's giving Spice Girls fans some serious hope for a reunion tour by dropping a few well-chosen words.

Mel B was walking out of Fred Segal Tuesday in WeHo when we asked, point-blank, if the group's hitting the road again. Of course, she's fully aware of the rumblings that started when all 5 Spices posed for a photo last week in the U.K.

Watch Mel's sly reply when we attempted to grill her -- arguably she played it perfectly.

12:44 PM PT -- The group just released a statement, saying, "We have enjoyed a wonderful afternoon catching-up and reminiscing about the amazing times we have spent together. We are always overwhelmed at how much interest there is across the whole world for The Spice Girls.

The time now feels right to explore some incredible new opportunities together. We all agree that there are many exciting possibilities that will once again embrace the original essence of The Spice Girls, while reinforcing our message of female empowerment for future generations."

The Spice Girls are 5 again ... Baby, Sporty, Scary, Ginger AND Posh are all officially under the same roof.

Victoria Beckham posted a pic of the girl group and she certainly teased some type of possible reunion with the caption, "Love my girls!!! So many kisses!!! X Exciting x."

We got pics of Mel B, Mel C and Emma arriving at Geri Halliwell's London pad early Friday, but there were no signs of Posh ... which dampened hopes for a full reunion.

Turns out she must've ducked in the back, keeping hope alive!

Geri's reportedly down for a reunion as long as it doesn't require a full tour ... ditto for Victoria.

The Spice Girls wanna talk reunion ... so a bunch of them got together, sans Victoria Beckham.

Mel B pulled up fashionably late to Ginger Spice's London crib Thursday with Mel C not far behind.

Ginger, who is hosting the affair, is reportedly down with the reunion so long as the group doesn't sign up for a full-on tour, citing family reasons. Ditto for Victoria, who wasn't seen at the reunion. TMZ broke the story ... Victoria's NOT down for a reunion.

It seems like the group's incredibly serious about getting the band together. Even the group's original manager, Simon Fuller, made the meeting.

The Spice Girls are inching closer to a full-on comeback, but it's gonna be tough -- 'cause Victoria Beckham doesn't wanna be part of it ... TMZ has learned.

Sources close to Victoria tell us she will not be involved in any possible Spice Girls reunion, if one happens. According to a U.K. report, they're said to be releasing a new album in 2018, and making an appearance on a TV special.

We're told Victoria and her camp have not been part of the talks, and no one's reached out to them to join negotiations. It's no skin off Posh's back, because our sources say she's busy working on her fashion line.

One of the KFC's now-famous 11 "Herbs and Spices" is an L.A. City Councilman, who's totally down for an original recipe hookup with the Spice Girls and the other herbs. Make it happen, Colonel!

We got L.A. City Council President Herb J. Wesson Jr. -- 1 of the 6 Herbs KFC follows on Twitter, along with all 5 Spice Girls -- and he says there's nothing fowl about his newfound fame.

He also made it clear ... he's not afraid to sell out for chicken, as evidenced by his suddenly booming social media.

Herb's not sure which ingredient he is in the secret recipe, but he's already declared himself the #1 Herb -- apologies to music legend, Herb Alpert -- and he has big plans, if Colonel Sanders cares to listen.

We can see it now -- ya can't fry KFC without Wesson!!

Victoria Beckham has never been big on smiling for anything, not even when a pack of strangers sing 'Happy Birthday' for her.

Posh Spice turned 43 on Monday and got a serenade from photogs when she arrived at LAX. It was a sweet gesture, and Vicky seemed like she was gonna be into it. You gotta see her primp for the big moment.

But once the singing started, well ... let's just say she doesn't seem impressed.

We think she'd say her daughter, Harper, did it better.

Victoria Beckham will never ever ever be getting back together with the Spice Girls ... despite what you may be reading.

Several media outlets reported the entire group will be reuniting in 2016 for a 20th anniversary ... but Posh's rep tells us she will categorically not be appearing with the Spice Girls, now or in the future.

Her rep says Beckham "has been very respectful about the fabulous time they had together in the past, however her focus is now very much her family and fashion business."

No word on what that means for the rest of the girls ... Mel B aka Scary Spice has said she wouldn't perform unless everyone's in, so it seems this is a deal breaker.

The Spice Girls reunited for a very special occasion -- David Beckham's 40th birthday ... and someone was noticeably absent.

Victoria Beckham threw the party in Morocco Saturday and most everyone dutifully showed up, including Emma Bunton, Melanie Chisholm and Geri Halliwell. The missing Spice -- Mel B.

Victoria posted the pic and tagged it "Spice Girls in Marrakech!" ... thing is, Eva Longoria joined for the photo.

They didn't perform, but they partied with David's family and all the other celebs.

GIRL POWER has just taken on a whole new meaning -- former Scary Spice Mel B stripped down to a bikini this weekend in Australia with a bunch of her lady friends ... and things got real frisky, real fast.

38-year-old Mel B and her gal pals sunned themselves on a yacht in Sydney Harbor Sunday. Mel's film producer husband Stephen Belafonte was there too, but her BFFs were the ones getting all the action.

Katt Williams has a brand new enemy -- Spice Girl Mel B ... TMZ has learned.

Mel and her husband Stephen Belafonte were at Boa Steakhouse in L.A. with comic Faizon Love (Big Worm in "Friday") ... when Faizon told us he's still at war with Katt, who allegedly pulled a GUN on him last year.

Faizon tells TMZ ... he thought the beef had blown over ... until recently when Katt started talking more smack to him online.

Faizon proceeded to TRASH Katt on camera ... telling us, "He can't f*ck with me on the stage, on the screen or in these streets." You can tell Faizon is seriously pissed.

That's when Mel B jumped in -- saying, "I got your back" ... adding, "Who is Katt Williams anyway?"

Wanna pretend you're Posh Spice?

Well, now you can (you should probably stop eating first), 'cause Victoria Beckham is selling some of her old Spice Girls clothes ... and it's all to raise money for the Philippines.

Posh and David Beckham packed up 20 boxes of clothes -- from Spice Girls hoodies to fancy dresses, designer shoes, suits, boots, etc. -- and hauled it to the British Red Cross.

Some of the stuff is actually affordable -- Beckham suit jacket's are on sale for 75 pounds a piece ($121) ... and the money raised from the sale will go towards aiding the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.
