61. By the way, I'm referring to Terry Moran in my last post, in the event that it's not clear.

63. have a very, and I mean a very modest living so I am far from being rich, but I count myself lucky that I am not "poor".
When I first came to this country I took the bus in South Central LA where being of Hispanic decent I was not welcomed in a mostly black population. Nonetheless, I took the risk and rode the bus to LA City College and took classes at night. I worked odd jobs and I was able to buy my first used car. All the while, I continued to go to school. Back then I guess you could say that I was poor because I scraped and usually placed pennies into the bus to have enough for my ride. I never sought financial aid and I never lied to get free books or any of that sort. I paid for everything myself with my odd jobs. I never used my money to get my hair and nails done what little money I made, I made sure to pay for my college fees.
Don't give me that bull$hit that poor people stay poor because if poor people would plan their lives accordingly they could succeed and make something of themselves. I waited till I was 32 years old to give birth to my first child because I had studied, worked and was lucky enough to marry and when was pregnant I paid off all my debts so that I could be a stay at home mom.
I came here from another country and I never took anything for granted and I was not going to sit on my ass and blame the governement for what went wrong in my life. Most of you who are born here take it for granted and therefore you do not strive to make anything of yourselves.
In my opinion, it's bull$hit that you say this because this is America and this is the greatest country on earth where if you strive to work hard, are dedicated enough and have ambition and pride --- anything can happen!!

First off sweetie I have a masters degree in elementary education so that means I am a middle class black woman supporting herself with no children, own home and car so I dont depend on the government for a damn thing. I recieved full scholarships for my schooling because I was 4.0 gpa student so dont go assuming before you know the facts dear. Now true enough there are lazy people out here and those who depend on the system to live but that person is not me ok. But when it all boils down dear it is the poor and the middle class who is affected the most by this strain of an economy and ridiculous gas prices. I am a proud Barack supporter and I dont give a damn whose mad at it because everyone on here is entitled to their own opinion. I am for change no matter what his name is whether he is black, white orange or gray if something can be done why not support change for your family and a better future.

64. HILARIOUS!!!! I knew there was something about Obama that seemed off - now we know why...his parents are both really dudes. Also, what is it about Kansas that just keeps churning out the freaks? Not that his mom "a white man" is a freak, but maybe she is.

68. #53 said: "Now if Sarah were a liberal, she would've ended her own pregnancy when she found the child had Down Syndrome, and she would've taken her daughter to get an abortion as well."
WTF?! You automatically think all liberals have abortions and force their children to get abortions?! I weep for the future of this country when it comes to ignorant people like you.

70. Uh, abortion is legal because for some women it's the right choice (dem & gop alike). Women do not need politicians or overbearing mothers telling us what to do with our bodies. Funny, republicans are the first to withhold $$ for illegals who keep having babies, but are the last to support a woman's right to decide not to have more babies they can't take care of. Democrats just say whatever they need to to get elected without an real moral compass. Adoption isn't for everyone - I certainly wouldn't want one of my brood running around the world with some potentially crazy yahoos (like the mccains, or jolie-pitts, or my in-laws). Hey teenagers, the politicians say we can can get drunk, make babies and shoot guns...the best part is that no one can say anything because we're off limits!!! Let's drink some Captain Morgan, have unprotected sex and post it all to our my space pages!!! Woo hoo!! Party!!!

71. Reading thru some comments here!!
WOW i can read..LOL
Ok i have heard from the Dems about "change"
Wait until the Presidential Debates to hear what this "change" will be.
It's SOOOO easy to talk the talk
But,
I wanna hear some idea's from a JUNIOR senator?
How is Obama going to get fuel costs down?
Get us out of Iraq?
Turn the ecomomy around??(BTW the economy goes in cycles Up......Down....etc..)
Health care?
The impending demise of the social security system?
You CAN'T just look into the Camera and say "change"
In the long run the People of the US are getting screwed
Both..BOTH party's are not there for the good of the people!

72. Agreed - Apparently change means, picking a middle aged white guy who will tow the party line or being an old white dude who needs a woman around to do his bidding. I see no real change from anyone here. Hillary got shut out by her traitorous party and racist rival. McCain is just another Bush, but maybe with 1/2 a brain (if only he had enough guts to use it).

To: Posted at 12:42AM on Sep 3rd 2008 by The word "poor" does not phase me anymore!!!
Sweetie, I loved your post. Although, I was born in American, I too, made my own way in this this country. My parents had a lot of children - but very little money. My father was a natural genius, but he was greatly lacking in everyday common sense. I inherited his genius and my mother's common sense, so I'm a very smart, pragmatic person. I see a "problem" and I want to "fix" it. "Thinking" is recreational and very enjoyable for me. My making money years are pretty much over, but for a quarter of a century, my ex-husband and I took a business from zero to millions of dollars by our own hard work and intuition. There were also some lucky breaks for us. We also didn't have help from anyone else. No investors or government agencies contributed to our success. We did it all on our own. I was offered scholarships to highly accredited colleges because of my outstanding academic records - but I turned them down because I didn't see the point of going to college when I wanted to learn something - I just went out and found the information I needed, on my own.
I wish this country was filled with people like you. The kind of people who have an actual plan to get what they want out of life. Whatever a person wants to do, learn what you have to do to accomplish your goals, then "do it".
Getting back to TMZ's post. Yeah, the guy didn't realize that he said "a white man from Kansas". He meant to say a white WOman from Kansas. Just a dumb mistake.

74. LOL that clip was hilarious!!!!
By the way, can people stop saying that our government let the poor stay poor. It's the ignorant that STAY ignorant. Yes, there is definitley room for change and improvement but many of us posting on this blog came from "poor" backgrounds. It was our (and our parents) hard work that got some of us the successes we have accomplished. As a young black woman who owns a home, owns a car, has no children, and has earned 3 degrees, I can say that the government provided several of the opportunities for me almost free of charge. These opportunities where offered to EVERYONE black, white, blue , and purple. The choice was put in front of me and I took it. These same choices were given to my other unfortunate friends that I grew up with. They took different paths and were persuaded but negative outside influences. That was their choice. The government did not make them sell drugs, have babies, and/or drop out of school. They allowed themselves to get into those situations. So as a black woman living in America, I tell my fellow black americans to get off their a**es and educate themselves. Stop blaming others for your misfortunes. It's embarassing!!!

75. Wow 66. You're a teacher and your grammar and sentence structure is that horrible? Please don't teach my children. I would say that you shouldn't have any contact with any child's education, but well - you're exactly what the Democrats want teaching kids. You'll make sure they never get 'too smart' and will always be easy for the Government to keep hold of.
#53 Just because a child has Downs doesn't mean that it is any less capable of love or life. To end a pregnancy just because the parent is too selfish and uncaring to want to nurture their disabled child is just horrific.
Obama has no right to sit and accuse Palin of having no experience. Particularly since he's spent 3 years as a Senator. During his time as Senator, he's only spent 143 days of that time in the senate. The rest of the time he's been campaigning for President. Any idiot can get up and speak - I mean my god. Even Hitler was an eloquent speaker, and look what he managed to get people to agree to. :P
