Dr. Donda West (July 12, 1949 - November 10, 2007) is the mother of hip-hop artist, Kanye West. Dr. West was the former chairwoman of Chicago State University's English department. She was an active professor for 31 years. Although the autopsy was inconclusive, Dr. West is believed to have died due to complications of cosmetic surgery.
