Usher's Wedding Woes Continue

Why did Usher and Tameka Foster call off their wedding yesterday? It seems that absolutely nothing was working for the would-be bride and groom.

Usher's mother and former manager was part of the problem, as were differences in opinion between the couple. Usher's mother, Jonetta Patton, is against the wedding, and was only invited to the ceremony at the last minute. Her disapproval, a source told People, "is one of the main obstacles."

Usher wanted to take the reception upscale with a catered dinner from chef Jean Georges, while Foster wanted a backyard barbecue. "They only decided two weeks ago to have a wedding," said a source. "They wanted to have it take place before the baby bump started showing."

1. Don't care much about this guy, but at least he's trying to do the right thing about marrying a person you get pregnant. Sean Coombs on the other hand just kick his family to the curb, for his own selfish reasons. I give Usher credit for that!!

6. I was a wedding coordinator at a private beach club and differences between brides and grooms are common and expected. A grooms mother openly opposing the wedding was less common but it happened. Usually the mothers who openly opposed the brides were controlling, domineering, difficult women who raised Momma's boys and didn't want anyone closer to their sons than them.

8. I saw Usher's mother in one of those TV interviews.....what is the word? "CONTROLLING?"
She is a overbearing woman. I could tell. She said things like "things only go right when he listens to me..." "I'm right all the time".....and she wasn't hiding all that righteousness. I guess
she wrote herself into his childhood, his career, and now his adulthood....or so it appears. But he has a life he may not have had without her guidance, etc. Behind every young entertainer is a pushy stage mom peeking through the curtains.

10. Here's my take on all this.

1. If this wedding being canceled had something to do with Usher being pressured by his MOM to call it6 off then it's a good thing for him. When you see what is going on with all these celebrity kids who won't take advise from anyone and even those who are heading downhill fast because they blame their mothers for interfering in their lives that I have to commend someone who would actually listen to their parents. Life is tough; Usher's Mom has worked hard to get her son to where he is and if at this time he turns and listens to her then good for him.
2. I don't fault anyone for getting married to someone who is somewhat older than they are. Sometimes it's a good thing too. However, a woman with 3 kids getting married to a guy 9yrs younger spells disaster. At 28, most men are just getting warmed up to the role of dad. Having to do so with 3 kids (none of them yours) all at once can be a bit overwhelming. This may not be so difficult if the guy is say late 30s or older but 28 is just too young to have that much on your plate. If this lady wants a father figure in her kids' lives maybe she should look for someone a bit closer to her own age. On the other hand, she may not like it when she suddenly gets to feel like she now have an extra kind on her hands. That is not to say that 28yo men are all immature but they tend to play around quite a bit and that may not be what she had bargained for.

All the same, I wish them both the best because I really think the marriage would have been doomed to failure for so may reasons anyway.

13. I think Usher did the right thing...sounds like they were rushing in the first place, maybe because of the pregnancy, which is no reason just to get married. If that was the only reason, it probably wouldn't have lasted long anyway. Usher's first manager was his mother, and he should expect that she would want to be conserned about his personal decisions about who he plans to marry regardless if it is her business or not. That's just how most parents are anyway. They will always give their opinion whether or not the children want to hear it. And as far as the fact that Usher wants to keep his love life private, get over it. Your a celebrity and people are always gonna be in your business honey. Its a fact of life. Fans and haters alike will have their opinions of what you do and want to comment about it. If you dont want to hear it, try ignoring it.

14. If they only decided a couple of weeks ago to have a wedding in the first place, then what's the big deal? Sounds more like they just ran out of time with the planning, so it just didn't happen.
Regarding the backyard BBQ, if it's not YOUR wedding, then who cares? A friendly BBQ actually sounds kind of nice to me.

15. I think the x-bride to be is a dirtbag. I have heard nothing but bad things about her. I mean every boyfriend she has had has been famous. I think she is a gold digger and he was to wrapped up in what she was doing to him behind closed doors and finally saw the light.
