Tom Hanks: You've Got MySpace!

Isn't Tom Hanks a little too old to be on MySpace?

Yes, Forrest Gump himself has a MySpace page -- and he's even posting video blogs on it. The first was just to introduce himself, and the latest shows him driving around in his electric car. Among Hanks' top friends are Leonardo DiCaprio and Lance Bass. Hanks, a n*NYSNC fan -- who knew?

In the About Me section of his page, Hanks writes, "I'm that actor in some of the movies you liked and some you didn't." Apparently, he saw "The Terminal."

63. The Terminal was a WONDERFUL movie.

TMZ, you are a gossip rag, nothing more and certaingly nothing as respectable as a film critic.

64. Yeah what the hell are you talking about? The Terminal was a great movie. Gee I wouldn't have expected a site like TMZ to be so shallow. How disappointing.

69. I'm not really a fan nor not a fan of Tom Hanks, nor do have anything to do with those scary social-networking sites. But, this idea of the famous actor, and in some circles movie icon, Tom Hanks, to be, "out there," on MySpace is such a, "stitch." I love that idea. It's hysterical! More power to ya', Tom! However, I won't be getting an account to check you out. Be there, and make it safer for the kids.

70. A lot of celebrites have MySpace pages, including Andy Garcia, Denzel Washington, even Oprah.
And with over 200 million members, it sure ain't just for teenagers.

71. Why is Tom Hanks filming a commercial for electric cars while DRIVING!!!!!!!!!!!

He's not looking at the road...he's looking at the camera. How unsafe and irresponsible!

73. Sometimes your're so wrong, TMZ. The Terminal is a great movie, Tom Hanks is never too old for anything and the vast majority of myspace users are between 35 and 55 years old.

74. He only adds friends from people he knows, which is cheesy. You have to either enter his real e-mail address or last name to put in a friend request.

75. The sad thing is that I respected Tom Hanks prior to this. I never imagined he would buy into the hype and hysteria surrounding electric cars. So, Tom, where does the power come from to charge your electric car? The extra gasoline that you would have burned to fuel your car is predictably about the same amount MORE that a power plant will have to add to its consumption in order to generate the power that you will use to keep it charged. It's a zero-sum gain. Unless the star of Bachelor Party can figure out how to create electricity and power generation without fossil fuels (which, by the way, is the greatest contributor to pollution, NOT automobiles), then we will be stuck in this cycle. And forget about the nuclear power generation option. Why? Because Hollywood celebrities and other "environmentalists" are against it.
