Writers Guild Endures a Bad Rap

If this WGA supporter is any indication, the strike could go on for a looooooong time. They'll also have to survive this guy.

17. I think the writers are getting greedy. The others who are not working because of this strike have bills to pay. A lot of people live pay check to pay check what are they going to do? The time that the strike is on is wages lost for the writers is 4% going to make up for months of being off work?

18. Here's a solution, how about not paying the stars such obscene amounts of money so that everyone else could be paid fairly? Maybe they need to tell all the celebrities of each show that they have to take the pay cut for the writers that make them famous in the first place. I guarantee they would refuse.

Instead of paying a worthless celebrity a few hundred thousand dollars per week they could flip that to the writers and crews. They're the ones with the actual talent. A drunk monkey could recite lines on screen.

Stars are a dime a dozen, it's the writers that make them famous and the crews that do all the physical work, but it's the crews being fired.. It's not even the writers that will suffer first...it's the grips, and stage hands and craft services and assistants, etc. etc. that are paid crap for doing the hard work.

FORCE THE STARS TO TAKE A PAY CUT! GIVE IT TO THE WRITERS...PROBLEM SOLVED.

19. They should let us fly out there and write while these people all strike! I live in NYC-- I've got plenty of crazy stories that they can use for jokes and shows!

20. Wow, I didn't really know how deep this ran. I thought they really should get a percentage of the sales. With things going to DVD as quickly as they do now, I thought that was fair. But then I see the other side. The people who are not writers, that's a bad situation. All this money in Hollywood...why the hell is it so hard to give them something the deserve. If they can make Jay Leno funny, they deserve some more damn money. I honestly don't know what y'all see in him. Good luck to those people who aren't writers that are affected directly by this.

27. I went to high school with this guy. He has been poping up all over the news for like 10 years doing things like this. He is not all there, however, he is EXTREMELY intelligent. One day after a basketball game we dared him to drink some clumpy spoiled milk and he did it!!! He didn't even puke!!!!

His name is Eric Parks.

28. a freelance writer deserves residuals... a writer under contract to a studio or network doesnt..what they write should be the property of their employer...i mean, nearly everyone complains how terrible television is, how its a rehash of things done prior...over and over and over......maybe we need new writers to bring back some creativity... when commercials are more enjoyable to watch than the actual program, that should tell us something isnt right...

This is so damn true. There is a commercial on that I watch every damn time it comes on. It's the AT & T high speed internet commercial. With the two window washer guys. Who ever thought of that one was nuts. But it is hilarious. I miss the days of good TV.
