Writers Guild Endures a Bad Rap

If this WGA supporter is any indication, the strike could go on for a looooooong time. They'll also have to survive this guy.

31. These Producers make millions in one year. Most writers are lucky to make $150,000 a year if that. The Producers are ripping off the writers while making a killing. It's like let's say NBA Basketball, you may not like the fact that the Players make 80 million over 5 years, but the other side is the NBA Managers/Team owners are making 10 times that much each year.

Fair is fair, the writers deserve to get a piece of the pie. BTW the writers were willing to drop the 4% increase for DVD sales but they would not drop the Internet income portion. The Producers claim they don’t make anything yet…so what’s wrong with giving them 4% of nothing???? Because the Producers are lying and they know it, the Internet is making plenty of $$$.

32. OMG!!! I just ran the Santa Clarita Marathon last sunday, and this guy was running the 1/2 marathon in front of me, dressed the same and carrying that westside rental sign!! LOL

33. This guy is a a-hole! He shows up at the occasional USC football game and dances around like a total s*#thead! Even the little kids at the game enjoy pelting him with popcorn and whatever else they can wing at him. Get a real job ass wipe!

34. I am in the union I work doing craft service. I am what is called Below the Line crew. Although I am very pro union and I support them and will never cross their lines, I am very afraid for my family and the familys of all the other below the line crews. We don't have a fund saved to pay us for months on end while they hold out. We have never done this to them. Yet here we are again. Its the writers now and the first of the year they will be joined by SAG. By the begin of summer the directors will join them (not that any one will be working) . People are getting fired now with actors leaving their shows to support the writers. When SAG goes out so will everyone else. All production in this town will come to a complete stop. You can't work with out the actors!

I just want to say to all the writers, actors, and directors think about your crews think about us hundreds of folks that lost their homes and cars in the last strike we don't make as much as you and we wont all survive another long strike.

I am know its not fair to beg you to end this as soon as possible when their are two sides involved here but we all know what heartless SOB's the producers are. They just want the money, all of it! If they could treat us like Walmart treats their employees or the way people are treated in overseas sweat shop they would and wouldn't think twice about it as long as their pockets stay fat and full.

Lets all try to settle this soon

Sincerely
Proud Local 80 member

35. Hasnt Hollywood noticed? This country has shunned movies and entertainers for a while now. Come to Detroit and see the economy. Visit a VA Hospital and see the reality of war. And yeah yeah yeah we get it, "you hate Bush". Just waiting for you to somehow blame him for this too. If you dont get much pity, perhaps its because most of us are simply trying to live in the real world every day. Shaddup and go back to work, and be thankful for what you have.

36. Ok, the worst part is, he has an identical twin. They are from Seal Beach. I doubt this guy's a writer, however. One brother panhandles money while wearing an expensive suit. This one stands in thje street and waves at cars, I mean morning, noon, and night. I have seen him EVERYWHERE. He doesn't drive so i don't know how he gets around the way he does. At least he's a celebrity now.

38. Writers are the third highest paid group in the biz. They already get royalties, they are looking for a raise. None of the other crew members who work on shows even get royalties, and there would be no shows without the stage, lighting, make-up ( I could go on ) crews!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do the writers or producers even care about the 300,000 + people that they are putting out of work??? NO!! All they care about is more money for themselves!!!

39. The writers are stupid. They deserve nothing. They should be happy to even have a stupid job. They can be replaced by a starving college student. Besides, who gives a crap about most of the shows on TV anyway. The corporations will just replace them with some reality shows.

40. That is the WESTSIDE RENTALS guy! He is always out on Melrose and maybe Highland dancing crazy like that. I even have a video of him from a few months ago. He is like that every time I see him. Don't know why he is striking for the WGA, maybe he just has some left over enthusiasm he didn't know what to do with.

42. I think the writers are a bunch of whining babies. They make more then us "normal" People yet they want to complain they dont make enough. Maybe all the average working people should go on strike and see if we get all the attention......I could care less if they never write again all thier crap is junk anyways...maybe that's why they dont get the pay they want. IT'S ALL CRAP!!!!!!!!
