Time for a Good Ol' Intervention

TMZ has been reporting for weeks that Britney's family and some professionals in her life have been planning a "creative way" to deal with her mental problems. It looks like the time has arrived.

Sources told TMZ "if it happens," it should happen this week. Last night, Brit's mom, Lynne, her dad, Jamie, cousin Alli, as well as Sam Lutfi and Adnan Ghalib all showed up at Britney's house and were all there at the same time.

Brit's mom and dad (and others) have known for months that a bipolar disorder -- and not substance abuse -- is at the root of her problems. They cannot involuntarily commit her (impossible under these circumstances) and Brit has refused to voluntarily enter a hospital or even undergo evaluation for the problem. But now the plan is underway.

Here's what's significant: Britney has not spoken to her mom for a while -- no contact at all. Last night, Britney and Lynne (along with Sam) left the house at one point and went to the drugstore, so it seems they are now interacting.

There were signs last night that Britney didn't feel as warm toward her dad, that she didn't want anything to do with him.

This move has been in the planning stages for well over a month. It should begin to unfold IF Britney cooperates, and that is the wild card.

BTW, this "creative" intervention is different from what her divorce lawyers pitched to Commissioner Scott Gordon last week. They are not involved in this one.

Stay tuned ...

1. Wow, I hope this works for her. It is a shame to see her in this downward spiral. She has to feel some kind of mommy guilt. It is a shame it has gone on for this long.

2. Aw, where was Dr. Phil? I thought he wanted to be there to boost his ratings and all? Yeah. Cause he "really cares." HAHA!

4. So now the jig is up because you know Britney is reading all about this on your site. VERY responsible reporting going on here. Way to go. Leave this girl alone already.

7. Why is she so famous , i mean who gives a crap? Christine Aguliera has 20 times her voice and is way hotter and no one follows her around , yet this train wreck is followed like Pricess diana and only because these photogs want to see her kill herself or do something rea insane so they can make money..its pathetic.

8. I'd love to see this girl enter a treatment facility for bipolar or other disorders and come out realizing she was out of control for the past few years, regretting what she has done to her marraige, kids and family.

9. WHY were ADNAN and SAM and ALLI there?!?!? THEY are the ones taking advantage of her "vulnerable" state of mind...and bank accounts! An "intervention" should not include those who do not have your best interests in mind (EVERYONE present), or who create additional stress or drama (Dad, sister). Seems to me the "intervention" was telling Britney to keep doing what she's been doing, it's making them all filthy rich!

Still, so all her money, there's no excuse she cannot find a team of people who can set her on the right track...geez, she goes to drugstores enough...can't she pick up a prescription for Prozac, Ritalin, or some other anti-depressant/sedative?!

10. I wish TMZ would stop saying that Britney suffers from bipolar disorder.

NO reputable health professional has diagnosed her, to my knowlege, so there is not way of knowing what her mental health problems are.

By implying that bipolar disorder has caused all of her whacky behavior does a huge disservice to the many people who legitametely suffer from this devasting disease. My grandfather was bipolar and I know how difficult the disease is.

Please TMZ - stop playing psychoanalyst and trivializing this disease.

11. Anthony, I totally agree but I really can't stand when Britney is even remotely compared to Princess Di.

Other than the paps and Britney's FAKE Brittish accent, there ain't no comparison! Diana was a lady of class, a good Mother and well respected worldwide. Britney can only wish!

13. I agree with u #6, but the thing is, she shouldnt do it bcs of them, she should do it for herself... to get better for her kids... and once that happens, make sure she stays far away from those morons - all of them, and continue with her work. And i hope she does get help and feels better, i was never her fan - but this woman is in such pain... and she doesnt know who to turn to and who to trust, i cant even imagine how that feels like... All those people are around you and you are actually all alone. That sucks... Those little boys need their mother, healthy and happy, no matter what anyone says, she deserves them too.

My response: I couldn't agree with you more. It is sad and pathetic the way the paparrazi hound and dog this woman with no regard for her well being.

15. True, it's not a substance abuse problem. It's a prescription medication withdrawal that is causing this.
