Congressional Lunch Lady Cashes In

So the story we put up yesterday ... that Miss Doris, the cashier at the cafeteria in the Longworth House Office Building, is back at work! Seems the pressure was too much for the powers that be in D.C.

In a supremely draconian move, Doris was suspended without pay after her register came up 9 bucks short. One congressional staffer put it this way to TMZ: "It's like the return of Christ. Everyone is congratulating her -- hugs, tearful kisses, she's thanking one and all for their support."

2. WOW, our gov't suspended someone for being $9 short? Hypocrites!!!! If this rule rang true to our Gov't, we wouldnt have one....they would all be suspended!

6. Im actually glad she got a personnel/employer issue settled, but shouldnt it have been kept on that level? Its so nice to see our Congress working so hard on such pressing issues, affecting our nation - they must be exhausted, hell lets give em another raise and a vacation. (oh brother)

8. instead of worrying about $9, shouldn't our government be looking for the "alleged" MILLIONS in cash that went missing from sadam hussein's regime that we suddenly couldn't find?

9. I used to work in the Longworth building, several months ago a matter of fact and the new resturant management suxs. I'm sure they got scared and had to hire her back, probably due to TMZ's blogs. GOOD!

10. As a congressional staffer I am ecstatic that Doris is back! She is a lovely woman and greets everyone with a smile and kind words. For everyone out there – we are working on bigger issues also but isn’t our job to stick up for “the little person”. If we had done nothing- y’all would raze us for that- you are damned if you do and damned if you don’t. BUT for those who live and work here- it was another example of what can be done when people join forces…for all you haters- take note- maybe instead of blogging and such you should get out there and work to change all that you think is wrong…or you could stay on TMZ and just bitch about it.

13. #4 our vote really does not count. i live in ny and no matter who i vote for this state is going to be one by a dem. if the 2000 election taught us anything is that the system is flawed. i really wish people would stop with every vote counts because it does not. maybe with elections of smaller scale like mayor or gov but not the president.

15. Yes Congressional "staffers" (not sure why we need the quotes on that) have time to read TMZ- they do let us breath when we are not trying to fix the problems that Republicans have put us in...if you have time to read TMZ during your work day why shouldn’t we...and NO Doris is NOT Mexican
