A donkey might be a good symbol for the Democratic Party, but that doesn't mean Dominicans want to be compared to one on national TV.
Here's what went down. Kelly Ripa told a story on Monday about how one of her 37 kids was learning about government and said the elephant represented the Republicans and the donkey represented the Dominicans. Regis then quipped, "She's pretty close." Ay, caramba!
A Dominican-American group is demanding an apology from the show, claiming "host Regis Philbin practically agreed with laughter over what the two thought was a joke."
Dominican-American and Latino leaders will stage a protest outside the ABC studios tomorrow in NYC where the show airs.
Tomato, tomahto, Democrat, Dominican -- let's call the whole thing off!

As far as wether it was intentional or not..i think not..not because theyr racial tolerant.but because i think they might not even KNOW a dominican to see if theyr "donkeys " or not..most gringos think we all come from mexico..This protest is gonna be nothing but giving fuel for the people who may already dislike dominicans before this.Which is pretty unfortunate the fact that despite us being 20 countries that represent latinos,,when we come to the states..instead of us helping other latinos who are going through the same stuff we already did..we do whatever we can to bury them.Not even our own countrymen/paisanos.

I went off topic a bit..but i think that them as dominicans AND as part of the latino comunity,,theres so much more important stuff to be concerned about than a mispronounced word.
