Chesley B. Sullenberger III -- the pilot of flight 1549.



Career highlights
-- Flew F-4s for the U.S. Air Force from 1973 to 1980. Flight Leader and Training Officer with experience in Europe, Pacific and at Nellis AFB, serving as Blue Force Mission Commander in Red Flag Exercises.

Sullenberger spent years as an Air Line Pilots Association Local Air Safety Chairman, national technical committee member and accident investigator -- where he participated in several NTSB investigations of major aircraft accidents.

Our military, in this case, the Air Force, produces extraordinary men and women. If he didn't have the rigorous training of how to handle stress under extreme situations that the miliatry provides, we could be reading a different ending. God Bless this man and other crew for the courage they possess!

thank god he was flying that plane. the plane is now tied up right near ground zero next to a new york waterways terminal . and thanks to the people from ny waterways and the cirle line for getting out to the plane so fast and getting the passengers out of the freezing water here in NY.

This is a true demonstration of a hero in charge... News reports are sayig he was the last to leave the plane after he checked all the lavoratories and other places tomake sure all passengers were off board... This was a miracle with avery happy ending...
