TMZ has learned Barry Bonds' wife has filed for legal separation.
Bonds and Liz Watson were married in 1998. They have one daughter together. It is his second marriage.
Liz greeted Bonds when he hit his history making 755th* home run in 2007.
The papers, filed Friday in L.A. County Superior Court, cite irreconcilable differences.
Liz has requested joint legal and physical custody of their 10-year-old daughter. She's also asking for spousal support.

So let me see if I understand this. He makes his living playing professional sports. His ability to do so comes from natural talent, skill, and a heleva lot of hard work (steroids did not enable him to play in the major league! They may have enhanced his ability, but they did not GIVE him the ability to begin with) and his ex-wife wants to be rewarded for that? Hmmmmmmmmmmm, why doesn't she take her adult ass and earn her own living instead of cashing on on her soon-to-be ex-husband's God given talent? She's trying to cash in as if her marriage were stock options.
When will we do away with spousal support? It is such an antiquated legal theory that serves to do nothing but unjustly reward the undeserving.

If she wants more, she needs to get a JOB. Being Mrs. Bond didn't prevent her from having or giving up on any career.
These women and men of celebs, need to stop asking for what they're not entitled to. She is asking the court to quit, being Mrs Bonds. The paycheck should stop there as far as she's concerned. Ask for the kid but not for herself.

You are correct that that is what the law states. That does not mean the law is just or right. Hell, the law also provided the right to own slaves at one point in American History. Even back then owning another human being was wrong and just as you argue, slave owners would have argued the same justification: "The law allows it".
Call me bitter if you like, but the reality is that I dislike seeing a person get divorced AND screwed out of money. Especially when that person provided for a lifestyle within the marriage that the ex-spouse could never have achieved on their own.

They were married in 1998 in the San Francisco Ritz-Carlton Hotel. However, Bonds also had an extensive intimate relationship with Kimberly Bell from 1994 through May, 2003. (He purchased a home in Scottsdale, Arizona for Kimberly.) Liz and Barry have one child together, and child support and alimony should be paid accordingly.
