Candy to Tori: Get Real, Baby

7/26/2009 3:02 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Candy & Tori SpellingCandy Spelling -- the mother famously at war with her daughter -- has taken the bold step of communicating with Tori Spelling through TMZ ... and her opening line isn't gonna get her a lot of invites. Here's the open letter in all its glory:

EXCLUSIVE TO: TMZ.COM
TO: MIDDLE-AGED REALITY SHOW STARS (LIKE MY DAUGHTER)
FROM: CANDY SPELLING

I Know many middle-aged people have issues about their parents and their upbringing. I did. My memories didn't match all those of my mother, and, funny thing, it's the same way with my daughter.

Life has consequences. What you say is on the record. Other people have feelings.

I have a vested interest in this subject. My daughter, Tori's, two-part season finale revolves around my granddaughter's first birthday party and how she has made what seems like an agonizing decision to invite me.

Cue music. Cue sideways glances. Cue Lights.

I am so tired of everyone playing the victim and blaming other people for the problems in their life. I don't think Candy Spelling was such a terrible mother because look at the good mother Tori has become (other than the fact that she is playing out her children's lives on television). No parent is perfect. No parent has given their children everything they want. Candy tried her best to love Tori and Tori always wanted more. i think her dad may have doted a lot on her but look at the relationship. Even he couldn't give her enough. Watch out Dean because someday you are not going to be giving her enough either. She is needy and she will always want more. Unfortunately she has to bring other people down to get that out.

If Candy had any respect for herself and was not the attention whore that she is, she would keep her private life private and she would try very hard t reconcile with her daughter for the sake of her grandchildren. How sad and heartbreaking for a daughter to have a mother like this. I am a mother and I would do anything for my daughter. I would not defame and humiliate her in public, that's for sure. This woman has serious issues and is so disgusting. At least Tori takes care of her children and obviously loves them more than anything in this world and is trying to make a living in a respectable manner....more that I can say for her mother who has done nothing except try to drag her daughter through the mud and live off her wealthy dead husband's fortune. I am sure Tori's dead father would be rolling in his grave right now knowing that his wife is treating his only daughter lke this.

For parents to raise their children to have everything they want, and then leave them almost nothing is just not right. Why her father left so much to her mother is beyond me. Why didn't he split it? I have to say I am on Tori's side. As a parent, I would do anything for my children. If I would have money to leave, first I'd make sure my children are ok, and then my spouse. Apparently both her parents seem to dislike her. That has to hurt. It's just strange for parents to hate a child so much, especially since she seems to be a normal, upstanding person.

This whole thing is ridiculous! Tori needs to STOP mentioning her mother before she ruins her show(her mom has done enough damage alredy-viewers are getting bored with it all!) Candi is being the stupid one here and I understand how Tori feels but they both need to get over it already, at least publicly. Be the bigger person Tori and ignore her! They both need to just keep it off the TV and internet.... I feel bad for the kids. Everyone needs a grandmother but Im sure they have others that would fill those rolls to those kids without screwing them up like Candi will. The bigger picture: They are better off without her in their lives! Did you ever hear of what you dont know wont hurt you? You cant make her the grandmother or mother that you want or wish her to be.
