Stephen Hawking Declares

'There Is No Heaven'

5/16/2011 9:30 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Renowned scientist Stephen Hawking doesn't want to rain on your parade or anything -- but he'd like you to know there is no such thing as heaven when you die. Debbie Downer!

In an interview with the Guardian, Hawking explained, "I regard the brain as a computer which will stop working when its components fail. There is no heaven or afterlife for broken down computers; that is a fairy story for people afraid of the dark."

If there is no heaven ... how does he explain bacon, Bar Refaeli, and the iPad?

When your computer breaks down, you take the copy of all your data (because you backed it up, right?) and transfer it to another computer. That's what happens when you die - you take everything you learned with you and transfer it to another body. You might lose some data along the way - stuff you forgot to backup - but the really important stuff goes with you.

Computers are not living creatures, they are man-made objects. Besides, how would anybody among the living know what exists after death? Our energy changes, but into what?

Finally! Someone who makes sense. When we die, we will be as we were before we were born. Nothingness. It's just a fairy tale to control the masses and comfort little children.

Thank goodness more people are coming to realize the truth. Organized religions are losing more followers every day.

More people have died in the name of religion than any other reason combined. "My god is better than your god". Ridiculous really. lol

The brain might be a computer, but the soul is pure energy- and that can never die. Heaven is obviously a fairy tale, but that doesn't mean there is no "afterward", necessarily. I am willing to bet his comments are taken out of context here in order to make the concept attainable to this audience.

Can Stevie boy can definitively explain to me infinity in respect to where the universe came from, from the end of the universe, to the other end of knowing exactly what is the smallest object smaller than the atom, etc. Until then, I'm hedging my bets.
