Deen Castronovo is going back to school ... anger management school ... as part of a plea deal in his domestic violence case.
TMZ broke the story ... 47-year-old
Castronovo was arrested on January 20 after allegedly attacking his GF at his Oregon home.
Castronovo originally pled not guilty -- but has since worked out a deal with prosecutors in which he agreed to complete 80 hours of community service and complete anger management classes.
If Castronovo completes his legal obligations and stays out of trouble for 180 days ... the court will dismiss his conviction.

was arrested over the weekend after a heated argument with his GF allegedly turned physical. Dude was hit with a laundry list of charges .... including assault, coercion, criminal mischief, interfering with making a report, and harassment.
This morning, Deen went in front of a judge and pled not guilty to everything.
A rep for Deen had previously told us the rocker believes "it was a misunderstanding that should not have been escalated to such a level in the first place."

Journey -- was popped this weekend in Oregon for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, TMZ has learned.
Sources close to the drummer tell us, Deen was arrested Saturday ... after a heated argument with his lady turned physical.
According to law enforcement, Deen was booked into Polk County Jail on a laundry list of charges -- including coercion, assault in the 4th degree, criminal mischief in the 2nd degree, interfering with making a report, and harassment.
Sources tell us the additional charges stem from an altercation that occurred after the alleged physical blowout -- when his girlfriend ran out of the house to call her father, and Deen grabbed the phone out of her hand and refused to let her contact her dad.
Deen's bail was set at $52,500.00 -- which he posted before being released.
