Elvis Presley, George Burns and James Brown are all alive and kickin' -- for a new ABC reality show.

Auditions took place this week for the show "The Next Best Thing," ABC is searching for the best celebrity impersonator -- and celeb lookalikes (read: wackos) came out of the termite infested woodwork to cause troubled double-takes on the streets of New York.

Doppelgangers for Kenny Chesney and John Travolta showed up as well -- though after taking a look at them, it's clear those two celebs have no need to worry about identity theft.

It is one thing to L@@K like a legend / celebrity, but it is completely different from having that Glow, Karma, Aura, and regal body language that many of them give off

it is just what seperates people who are born to be natural celebs from the common folks or the 15 minutes of fame'rs :-D

The next Best thing appears to be a "trap" for amateur "wakos" and a cruel attempt at producing a freak show.
Charlie Chaplin entered a Charlie Chaplin look-alike contest at the hight of his fame only to be eliminated in the first round. The public PREFERED larger than life impersonation to the real thing.
Maybe the modern day continuation of public enjoyment of the many talented professional lookalike/soundalike celebrity impersonators is the reason for the many attempts at bringing the real pros into disrepute and ridicule?
For this reason (and the very restrictive conditions for pro act entry) the Next best thing will not establish the No.1 lookalike/tribute act as most of the best acts have considered that there are very good reason to boycott this apparently unsavoury and calous production......

I've been in the entertainment industry for quite some time and the impersonator business is crazy

Corrupt and unstable

I will say though that this lady Denise who is a Madonna impersonator who runs her own agency is great

http://www.tributeproductions.com

Theres even awards ceremonies that are like the Grammys where they get awards

The owner of Legends In concert of Imperial Palace in Vegas has been very successful for many years and even has parties for the members and public at his ranch

But in my opinion more people who want to get involved in entertainment, whether in music, acting or impersonation should be serious and not phoney and lousy

IT makes for good entertainment

I think these people are professionals who go with what they have been given. A "tribute" is a very special thing and these people do it well. I hope the show will promote the very best and we will be entertained. It's a fact that "impersonators" are here to stay and well deserved. Watch and enjoy the "tribute" show to all of our favorite celebrities.

There Is a nother whoile world out there when it comes to impoersonating. Check out the Elvis Impersonaotrs at http://www.elvii.com
Even Elvis Presley Enterprises has gotten into it. Which I think is a cry of desperation for such.
It is pretty cool in a sence, they have their own radio show etc.
