46. Poor thing. Nerves played a significant role here. Not many are able to speak well publically in front of millions of people even with scripted notes nevermind she was also competing in a beauty pagant.
Condeming an entire nation and the state of South Carolina and Southern states as a whole for this young teen's garbled answer to the question is just as dumb and ignorant as her answer.
If you like to watch a classic public garbled unintelligable speech check out Elizabeth Taylor's speech at an awards (OSCARs ?) show where she had to be escorted babbling off stage live!
Elizabeth Taylor was not a teen nor inexperienced nor American nor a BLONDE.

Why is anyone the least bit surprised at the lack of brains in a so-called "beauty pageant?" All these contests are about is parading women around like cattle and treating them as such.

And the saddest part of all is that women actually buy into this degrading stuff.

59. She's precious! I love her. It's obvious that she had memorized an answer in advance and applied it incorrectly to an unrelated question, probably due to nerves. Everyone has to remember that she's a teenager, trying to cope with being in front of cameras across the world at that very moment, no doubt for the first time. Today, she probably feels like it's the end of the world because of her embarrassment, but eventually she will look back at laugh. She is indeed adorable.
