WWE Tackles Drug Problem

9/24/2007 3:16 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

In the wake of the death of wrestler Crush (aka Brian Adams), and the murder-suicide involving wrestler Chris Benoit, World Wrestling Entertainment sent a letter to more than 500 former WWE performers offering to pay for drug and alcohol counseling and rehab treatment, if they need it.
Vince McMahon
The letter, sent last week from WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, urges performers in need to get help and encourages wrestlers to support one another. "If you do not have a drug and/or alcohol problem, but know you know a former WWE performer who does, we are asking you try to help them by encouraging them to take advantage of this opportunity."

When contacted, a rep for the WWE said the organization had no additional comment.

This guy is such a hypocrite. He is only doing this "good measure" for the press. He pushes these athletes to extremes that any ordinary human would surely die from. They are booked for 5+ nights a week. Can you imagine getting physically injured one day and then have to do it all over again the next day? he is only it for the money & could care less about the wrestler's health. Just ask all the retired or dead ones how caring McMahon is.

Kudos to WWE and Vince McMahon. One can argue that it's too late and it's just for the positive press. That may be true but it's still a nice effort to help anybody that may need it. Again, the WWE and Vince are not babysitters. The men who abused drugs are adults and can say no. For them to step up like this is commendable.

Vince is a walking joke. Wanna be Donald Trump. He has taken advantage of the wrestlers by telling them to "bulk up". Now that the deaths are piling up he pretends to be concerned. McMahon's only concern is the bottom line.

People act like drug abuse is something new.Do you really think you get that big from drinking milk? As to vince's ""shows"", Everybody loves to see a train wreck(so to speak) but hopes nobody they know is involved.

What people fail to realize is that this is not the first time Vinnie Mac and company has done this. Just ask Nick "Eugene" Dinsmore, Kurt Angle, and Sean "X-Pac" Waltman", who were beneficiaries of Mr. McMahon's kindness. All with no publicity.

One other thing to remember. Vinnie Mac can't force the wrestlers to go into rehab. If the former performer doesn't want to go, then there is nothing that Vinnie Mac could do.

Hey Kate, you must have graduated the top of your class. Just one question, you stated, "just ask the dead ones", tell me, how is that going to work.

It's too bad that it's taken negative publicity to get McMahon to do something like this.Wrestling is an industry that tends to throw away its workers.

Standards are badly needed.

I'm sure they're all going to run and sign right up. Let's see - miss how many weeks of pay, or go to rehab while the news probably gets out...Is McMahon also offering to maintain their wages to help support their obligations while they're in rehab? Let's see how McMahon McReally means thi$. After all, the surrounding culture complicitly encouraged steroid use.
The organizations quietly bore some responsibility for the internal and external expectations.

Daniel 'WWE Fan'

Mr. McMahon is a god in my eyes i been a wrestling fan for many years now. and been to over 200 events.. And for people to judge McMahon is wrong and retared cuz half the time the media makes it look like the wwe is at fault for every damn thing in the world. The wrestlers who abuse drugs and liquior do it them SELFS mr mcmahon doesnt hold a gun to there heads and say do it now!! SO PLEASE chill on bashing the mcmahons and the wwe! Cause it's not there fault that some talent have drug problems it'sthe talents fault.. and it was good of mcmahon to step up and help out!! And Kate you are a stupid ass for saying what u said about the mcmahons and wwe.. you are a rude thoughtless person..

Merry Christmas

This type of Wrestling is wrong, wrong, wrong. I do not find anything of value in this so-called "sport." It is not something that I would ever want my son to get involved with. It's a pathetic way of life. There are so many better things one can do.
