Britney Spears has been driving illegally.

A TMZ records check reveals the popwreck does not have a valid California driver's license. She has applied for one, but it's still in the pending file.

And get this: Spears has never had a California license for all the years she's lived in L.A.!

A DMV official told TMZ, "At this point, Britney Spears does not have a valid California driver's license. She has an application pending that she never completed."

TMZ has video of Spears driving here and there this weekend. She also has a pending hit and run criminal case.

Ding dang, y'all.

78. If you all and I mean ALL don't stop harrassing this young woman she is going to end up dead. You are probably driving her so crazy she will just lose it one night and then you can spend 2 weeks talking about "what a bright light she was that was extinguished too early". Just like Anna NIcole....just like Princess Diana and God knows who else. When are you all gonna learn that to poke and prod and disect people you only accomplish the negative. Turn those ever judgmental cameras on yourselves, have you every single move posted everywhere and see how you like it. I have personally cancelled EVERY single magazine I used to enjoy for this reason. I am not a Brittany fan, BUT, I am a fan of letting people heal and get the help they need. She may have to hit rock bottom before she gets back up again....but isnt that her business, her families business and even the courts business??? Certainly isn't mine.

Hard to believe but you can buy a car in Southern California and get insurance also without a drivers license I know people who have done it you can thank your car dealerships for that and insurance company's. Has anyone ever considered that maybe this girl is doing all this stuff because she needs help and knows it but is trying to get enough attention to be thrown into a ward for help buy the courts any court ? And sad part is it seems like no one who can help her is listening. There all ignoring the reckless fact that this girl seems dangerous to herself and to her children . God help all 3 of them because they need the mercy of angels around them right now to look over and protect them. I don't care for Britney Spears as a person or a entertainer actually I don't really like her at all. But she has a soul and those kids do not deserve this horrible life they seem to be living. Just my opionion.

83. I contacted the driver's license office to find out the legalities regarding what's legal and not legal with a driver's license. Ms. Spears is driving illegally in California with her Louisiana license. When you move to another state you have a grace period of 30 days to acquire a new license once you've established residency in that state. I believe she has lived in California for quite awhile?

It will be interesting to see the outcome of the lawsuit against her with the hit and run. She may not be able to get a driver's license in California with her driving history. And if it's true, from what her ex body guard has shared, that she was driving down the wrong side of the road with her babies in the car with her it may just a matter of time that she kills herself and those precious boys.
