The Malibu landmark Hodge Castle is engulfed in flames at this time -- and reports say it has been completely destroyed.
Hodge Castle, also known as Malibu Castle and owned by socialite Lilly Lawrence, is known for hosting numerous charity events over the years. The castle was also home to a collection of priceless Elvis Presley memorabilia. The nearby Malibu Presbyterian Church was also destroyed by flames.

If I had enough money to own a house this big, I would dig out a hug cellar of some sort and put any priceless items down there when they weren't being used. That way when they weren't being used they would have better chance of not being burned in a fire...

This structure is (was) magnificent
and had amazing museum quality works of art and history.

The castle is called Castle Kashan. For the sake of journalistic integrity, please be accurate. Think about it. Try googling both names and see which one comes up with hits. TMZ.com does not count in the case.

An above average Fire suppressant system would have been called for. Like maybe Halon. Maybe stockpile some of the water from the nearby ocean to keep the outside from starting up. With all their money and the technology available, I don't feel sorry.
Make out like a bandit with the insurance, though.
The average person who can't afford to have these systems in place, are the ones who lose the most.

The Castle is actually named Castle Kashan, it was built by Tom Hedge in 1978 it went up for sale in March for 17 mil. TMZ needs to get facts straight. It was sad to hear it burnt down. Lets hope Pepperdine will be saved and pray no one will be killed or hurt.
