The Soho building on Broome St. where Heath Ledger died currently features an apartment for rent -- for only $23,000 a month.
So what does nearly $25K get you for 30 days? The 4,400 sq. ft., 3-bedroom, 2.5 bath loft features 15' ceilings, a fireplace, private balcony, central air, wood floors and a laundry room -- according to the real estate company, The Corcoran Group.
Neighbors tells us the building is supposed to be zoned specifically for artists -- meaning residents aren't allowed to move in unless they are approved by the city's Department of Cultural Affairs. But we're told that doesn't usually happen, and residents with deep pockets often get to move in instead.

I think the idea of the apartment only being rented to artist's unacceptable. The apartment should be open to anyone who could afford it.
why would you post something like this, tmz? he JUST died... how sad. i am devistated....
Nice digs! It would cheer me up if I could afford it! Guess things don't always work that way!
code words for "reserved for rich whites only"... approved by Department of Cultural Affairs, what a modern way to discriminate under the guise of "good art". I've never heard of such a thing in any other large City, but at 25k a month I'm sure plenty are on the take in NY for this scam.
Mighty close to the gutter with all these tacky stories when he hasnt been dead long at all
isn't the point of zoning for artists so that there are nice affordable places for them available? how can an artist afford that rent?! ridiculous!
This is more than a little ridiculous.
Have some respect, damn. The man just died, has a child, and you're going to post this crap?
Very little class on your part.
This is just bad taste. Not that I'd expect any better from TMZ.
$25K....that's $25,000. That can't be right. Maybe $250K? Even that seems kind of low.
