Britney's Estate Under Temporary Conservatorship

A Los Angeles court commissioner has placed Britney Spears and her estate under temporary conservatorship.

That means her financial assets and other holdings will be managed by a conservator -- the conservators are Jamie Spears and attorney Andrew Wallet.

The judge did not appoint a conservator to make medical decisions on behalf of Brit because the necessary paperwork was not filed.

As for the conservatorship that was filed -- it is only temporary -- until Monday.


A conservatorship is created when it is deemed that a person cannot care for themselves or handle his or her own affairs.

My guess is that until there is an evaluation done on Britney's mental health and/or someone is able to show why Britney either should be released from the existing 72-hour 5150 or if they can show that she shouldn't be held on an extended 5150, then you can't just take control of someone's life and assets williy-nilly.

At this point the evaluation is apparently on-going and the results are not in to show whether she could be deemed to be mentally competent in 72-hours or if she should be involuntarily committed for a longer 5150 term. I would think that the judge will make his decision at the time that Britney's evaluation is complete. To do anything other than that would seem a little presumptuous.

81. You ask what good is a conservancy that only lasts till Monday? Here's the answer: That is more than enough time for all accounts, all assests, all trusts, all real property to be put in BOTH names. Of course, at that point Jamie only has half of everything. If they can make sure she is committed long term there will be plenty of time to get the rest.

84. why is everyone on here so up for this??? britneys family has sleazily lived off their daughter her WHOLE LIFE. and now they are claiming she is too crazy to handle all the delicious money?? can anyone see through the lines here? they didnt file to control her medical treatment they just filed to control her money. this is disgusting, they dont want to help her, they are just making sure she cant cut them off. she sold her soul for that money, why shouldnt she keep it??? rather her mother sold her soul for her, but either way this smells like a scam to me. i guess when one cash cow is knocked up and the other wealthier one is just trying to live her life in a fish bowl, the wealthier daughter is the better target. Im so sad for her, its just so sad everyone is sucking the life out of this girl and all they are about is cash. i hope they all burn in hell

87. I hope Jamie Lynn is taking notes because she will be next with her parents. I think her parents could have waited till the 72 hours were up before rushing to the money. If anyone is out for her money it's them. Wait till Britney comes around because they will pay for what they are doing. No one has access to her accounts but her and her legal frim her accountants and if there is something seriously wrong with her her kids should be getting the money not her parents. Where we they when all this was going on. It's not Sam after her money it's the parents.

90. I am so happy to hear The father is in control, I hope the father Not only gets rid of Sam BUT bans That horrible Mother of hers from seeing her too.
I believe That Mother is the root of all of her problems, Her Dad seem to really care.
Someone need to buy that mother a one way ticket back to where ever she came from so she can screw up her other daughters life.
