Warning: TMZ Causes Cancer

Sure, we dish it out, and we can take it too -- but Illeana Douglas definitely crossed a line when she walked around Hollywood last night with a sign reading, "TMZ causes cancer. Stop filming celebrities, start filming poverty."

The irony -- or we're hoping, the point of this gutless stunt -- is that Douglas was at the premiere of and supporting the new season of "Dirt," the FX series starring Courteney Cox, which is all about filming celebrities.

I don't even know who she is. But if I get cancer, I know who to blame. ;)

Actually, I'm glad to see someone care more about the homeless on the streets than animals. Even if she is being a hypocrite.

If it's such a devastating problem, why doesn't she quit her job (where she is FILMED) and address the issue herself? I'm sure the money she spent on the computer and printer she used to pound out her oh-so-profound missive could've fed dozens of people. How much did her outfit, hair, makeup cost? What did she pay for dinner that night? How is poverty TMZ's responsibility? At least any more than it is hers, as well? ...just sayin'

It's not really irony - the show is a satire or at least dark comedy. It is not celebrating the gossip/paparazzi industry. Even then that would be more hypocrisy than irony. But I am not criticizing TMZ, I am pathetically addicted.

Wow. That's ballsy. The last thing I saw her in was a minor supporting role in Stir of Echoes. She thinks she's a celebrity?

Why?:  1445 days ago

Well it's true children are being raped and killed, people are homeless starving and these idiots have the money(6 million for J.Lo's babies when she's rich) and power to change things but all they care about is Britney Spears going to a damn gas station everyday!

i have to agree - gutless stunt - that it doesn't sound like you are taking it too well. what's wrong? Is it really the signs she was carrying or are you mad that she didn't stand in a way so your perverted asses could check her for underwear? It would seem that is your primary mission in life is upskirt shots...

wtf? so what, it's all part of the game. they do their thing you do yours. There is money in it for both, and until the day there isn't...both entities will be around.

I hate people who get on a high horse and think they are sending a "deep message"

Celebrities are the WORST at that
