Jason Castro: Lyrically Challenged

The trainwreck that is Jason Castro finally derailed for good last night when he completely effed up a line of "Mr. Tambourine Man" -- and just mumbled along instead.

And you thought Bob Dylan was tough to understand.

61. #56...I have not read anywhere, where anyone on these boards is 'defending' (as you state) his 'I don't care attitude'. Even many of his fans (myself included), are just trying to understand it, and interpret his non-verbal and verbal communication as of late. Many of us don't feel Jason should stay, especially if he doesn't want to, and is deliberately trying to get booted off the show. With that said though, we still like him, and see a promising (yet more comfortable) future in music for him.

Many of us also still watch the show, because, in a nutshell...we like it! and there are other contestants to view too. Besides, Jason really didn't start screwing up big time, until just recently (just my opinion).

Why do you watch it, and why are you even on this board, if you hate Jason so much!? Ok, you didn't say so, but you have insinuated it, by your written language here.

62. TMZ i am very disappointed in you. this is a weak attempt at taking a stab at jason. especially considering several others have forgotten lyrics, too, and you didn't comment on it.

a more interesting story would have been the tina turner wannabe, syesha, fake crying at the end of one her performances and then comparing her performance to the civil rights movement.

63. "Okay, here is a question for ALL of you Jason fans that are defending his "I don't give a crap about Idol" attitude: If a person does NOT give a crap about a reality show or sport team or movie, then why in HELL do you participate or watch it???"

I've no doubt he enjoyed it and wanted to be there up until it became blatently apparent that the whole AI thing is being spun in favor of David Archuleta, who could go up there, screech three notes of "Dayo", pop a squat, and throw the resulting poo all over the audience and STILL have Randy Jackson declare him a musical genius. When you hear THAT crap week after week and get ground down by those very same judges week after week when you're doing just fine, it's demoralizing. I don't think David Cook wants to be there, either. In fact, I think the only person who WANTS to be there right now is Syesha. David A. would most likely prefer to curl up in the fetal position under his bed and hide from stage daddy.

64. He acted and has been acting like he is completely stoned all the time. What a waste. Kick him to the curb and let someone who wants to be there stay!

65. If he doesn't get the boot tonight, I will be very disappointed. He should of went home a long time ago!!!! He clearly doesn't want to be there, which makes no sense at all. He belongs on a beach playing his guitar.

66. He has a place in my bedroom as soon as he gets voted home. I already have a ticket to every top ten concert in the country, just to see my baby Jason!!

67. Oh man.....!!! he he! I cringed and almost fell out of my seat when syesha made that civil rights comment too!! OMG! How lame!...not the civil rights movement, per se, but syesha equating her performance with it. I think for sure, that cost her some valuable votes tonight...we shall see.

Glad to hear/read that someone else (Laura) picked up on that, and with distastes too. Talk about drama queen...syesha is the one! LOL And though I think she sings well, her voice range isn't that strong...she definately is not who she is trying to be...another Whitney Houston? Fat chance.

68. Dear #59: First, this is NOT a "Jason" board. It is the TMZ website and they had a rubbishy article about the debacle of Jason'ts2 performances. I am not the only one in the world who is decrying his screw-ups. At least Brooke had the common decency to show shame when she forgot the lyrics and offered up an apology. Jason's goofs made the FOX news three times in the last hour!

Regarding "why" do I watch Idol??? Did I say that I do NOT like Idol??? I love A.I. and have watched all 7 seasons. But, I believe that when you try out for something, then you fully understand just WHAT you are getting into, particularly by the fact that the show is in it's 7th season. Jason was fully aware of the Idol Engine and what drives it so if his style is "laid-back, intimate venues," then he should have pursued that road and left the behemouth of Idol alone.

Concerning Jason's singing: since 3 weeks ago, my family DVR's the show and when it's Jason's time, we just fast forward to the judges remarks. If they have anything pithy to say, we then watch the actual performance. Since ALL three judges were gobsmacked by Jason's laissez-faire attitude, it should come as no shock that others viewers of Idol mirror their sentiments about his performances.

Dear #60: Thanks for the informative answer about Jason. I appreciate your insight about the man and his fans and it gave me understanging of his continued popularity.

69. #65...I was just one who was attempting to answer your initial question. You asked, I answered. Nothing more to it than that. No need for such a rebuttal. In my opinion too, if the main topic of discussions on the boards is about Jason, then in a sense, it becomes a Jason board. No offense, no need to argue. I respect your opinions too, and they give me pause to thought. I also liked Brooke too, though, I sometimes felt she was playing the martyr role a bit at times. Again, just my opinion. I still very much liked her basic style though, and think she will do well, like Jason, on a more relaxed, less competition level...just doing their own thing.

Peace to you.

70. Yeah, I have to agree with the people who say that it is definitely time for Jason to go home. He should have gone before Michael Johns and most DEFINITELY before Carly. In any case, his voice is fine and he'll find a niche someplace, just not here. As for the dreads and the stoner persona? I don't buy it at all, to me he seems like it's an act and honestly I wouldn't be surprised if he'd never seen a bong much less smoked one-IMO. Not that it matters either way really, I just wonder if anyone else had that feeling.

71. Jason just doesnt seem to give a crap what the judges say he never listens to them He would rather just get stoned and sing how he wants like hes in lala land really pathetic.. David A is good but boring most of the time Syesha did great but only one winner and thats David Cook

72. P.S. #65...you make a very good point too, about how Jason should have already realized what he was getting into when he auditioned for AI. I'm not so sure however that he did. He is young, and I'm sure there are many things behind the scenes, and the pressures involved, that no one can really understand, until they are placed in that position. But...if you are correct, then it could also be that Jason, and others are very smart for trying out for AI to get the exposure they need later, when and if, they pursue more relaxed avenues in their musician dreams. Having the exposure is very important, or even in a relaxed genre of performing, one will not do good at all. People have to know who you are, even if all they end up doing, is performing in a bar somewhere.

73. You know, the kid had a bad night, but when he's on.. he is fantastic. Not great for the idol stage but I can't believe how transparent the judges were about burying him and boosting David A. I think TPTB are scared at the true numbers of jasons votes as opposed to David A and this was operation save their chosen one. They have to sign the final 2 and are petrified of Jason being one of them. Which he shouldn't be but off Idol I think he will make a better album. The way they treated him last night was disgusting.

74. And as for forgetting the words.... well at least he did not stop completely on live tv and start over. But oh I forgot it only offends the judges when its Jason Castro. (And no I am not a fangirl actually rooting for Cook but Idol crossed a line imo)

75. Its about time this pot head goes home-He should never been in the top 20 to start with-his brain is fried
