After getting reamed by Tim Robbins over that whole polling place snafu, the NYC Board of Elections wants Testy Tim to turn that frown upside down -- and do a PSA for 'em!
Officials tell TMZ they're inviting TR to "join" them to produce "service announcements" about voter participation. Somehow, given that Tim called the head of the org a "corrupt scumbag," it might take a lil' arm-twisting.
No word from Tim yet on whether he'll bite.
Not surprisingly, the BOE phrased their offer slightly more diplomatically than Robbins' screed.
"The Board of Elections in the City of New York (NYC BOE) takes special pride in the conduct of the November 4, 2008 election. In our city of 8 million people with 4.6 million registered voters, 2.6 million registered voters went to the polls on Election Day.
The NYC BOE is an administrative agency charged with the responsibility for conducting elections according to the law; a law that goes to great lengths to ensure ballot security and deter election fraud. We recognize the need for all voters to be informed of all electoral procedural requirements.
We also recognize and applaud that passion of Mr. Robbins exhibited with regard to his Election Day experience. Therefore, to harness the passion of Mr. Robbins, and to further the purpose of the NYC BOE, we hereby extend our invitation Mr. Robbins to join the NYC BOE to produce voter participation service announcements."

How on earth can only 2.6 million out of 8 million turn out to vote. Pathetic Americans. This is the exact reason you do not have universal health care, your homes are being foreclosed and why your government is giving all your money and retirements to fat bankers and investors. People in other Democratic societies hold their leaders to the fire until they get the benefits people need and deserve. Americans work year round, fear taking vacations, save money in retirement funds ,have 90% of all mothers struggling in the work force meanwhile their kids are being raised by the media and becoming more and more ignorant. Can you not see yourselves? You are loosing out in the Global communities, being passed up and sood passed by. If as a society the majority of you are to apathetic to even control your own destinies by voting then you just plain deserve to be poor,undereducated and without affordable health care. When times are tough, go to the mirror and know you did this to yourselves. Americans have become lame!

Tim Robbins wasn't the only person to experience such an incident.
Many others also had their name removed from the electoral books but only Tim Robbins took a stand to ensure his vote is counted. Those paper ballots are a joke because they get counted after (not during) the election day and they get lost easily.
The spotlight may be beamed on Tim Robbins because a) he is a high profile figure in the entertainment industry, b) he is a well-known liberal/Democrat supporter and c) his passion drives him to make sure things are done properly.
I bet all those bagging and slagging off Tim Robbins has never had problems voting before, so they should put themselves in Tim Robbins' position and think about what they would do. Tim Robbins obviously has a good understanding of how the US electoral/voting system works so he knows when something's wrong or someone is trying to screw him over.
I believe he was wrongfully removed from the electoral books and the BOE breached privacy laws by giving Tim Robbin's personal details to the media without his consent.
The BOE won't admit they made a mistake and is just trying to make peace by sucking up to Tim Robbins so he won't sue them.

Tim goes on Bill Maher before the election talking about how evil provisional ballots are and how everyone should take cameras to their polling place, to ensure fairness on the election. Then the election rolls around and it just so happens to excatly what you were warning about happens to you. Maybe I'm jaded, I can't see this as just a random mistake. After all Tim is a smart man has strong conventions in what he believes in.
To think that at one time he and his wife were my favorite actors. I cannot stand left wing liberals who got everything they own by being everything they claim to stand against. Capitalism got you the great life you have... America got you the great life you have.... your children went to bed safe every night because the live in America, the country you want to change now that you have sucked it as dry as you can. Why is that a source of pride? Why is a not-quite-57% voter turnout a thing of pride? Especially in a city like NY with a ridiculously good transit system that should enable most to get to the polls easily.
