He is an ICON. I respect him as one of the greatest actors.

For such a wonderful character actor, who has remained a steady fixture for over 30 years, to be classified as "best remembered for Good Times" is almost an insult. Granted, a television series does provide exposure (and a weekly check); howevver, it pales in comparison to many of the other successful projects of John Amos.
But like most black fathers, he left (the show) after only 2 years and forced the black mother to raise the kids on her own. That makes him a very poor role model.
