Angelina Jolie's Mom Taxed After Death

Angelina JolieThe fact that Angelina Jolie's mom owes over $60 grand in back taxes to the state of California isn't totally shocking -- until you remember she passed away in January 2007.

The state filed a creditor's claim against the estate of Marcheline Bertrand last week. According to the filing, she owes $43,699 in back taxes -- add on $10,924.75 in penalties and $$8,304.95 in interest, for a grand total of $62,928.70.

I understand the state can put a claim for taxes due on a person's estate but seem like they were a little slow on this one.

I hope the great state of California gets nothing!

Damn shame, state just filed this, 2 years later. Opens all the pain of her mom's death all over again. It is against the estate of a deceased person whose will was probated 2 years ago. Guess in CA you can get hit with taxes at anytime.

Glad I don't live in CA. The will went thru probate as required and now the tax man cometh.

Hey they get you coming and going in this life. And if she had any kinda assets;they will put a lien on that. Yea, two years after her death so they can collect interest and fees. I hope she don't pay them a penny
