Gary Collins Begins House Arrest

Gary CollinsWe've just learned Gary Collins was booked today in Santa Barbara County, Cal. and is now under house arrest.

Gary was busted back in January for driving a motor home drunk in Santa Barbara -- so drunk that his BAC was an astounding .29, which is more than 3 times the legal limit.

Collins has been sentenced to 120 days, but could only serve 72 days if he abides by the rules.

3. Apparently, the man has a serious drinking problem that I don't believe 120 days of being confined to his home is going to help. If he seriously wants to quit, he should be in rehab, and if not he should be in jail for the 120 days.

5. The accident that he was in where someone was killed was just down the street from here.

You should have seen how drunk he was that day... he couldn't even prop himself up against the police car, he kept falling.

So they through his butt in the back seat and he cried like a baby

9. House arrest ? What kind of punishment is that ? What kind of message does that send ? And the deterrent to drinking and driving................... is non existent. The prosecutor that agreed to that half ass bargain should have a member of his family murdered by a drunk driving a 2 ton weapon. Shame on them !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

10. I don't condone drunk driving, but in California, if he was YOUNG and BEAUTIFUL, like Paris Hilton or Nicole Richie or Khloe Kardashian, he'd be out in less than an hour!!! So much for equality.

11. I guess the idea is to confine him to home so he has to drink there and not drive. Why didn't they give him one of those ignition-lock things where you have to blow into the tube every so often or the car shuts off?

12. House arrest...what a joke. Whatever happened to "3 strikes your out". Let him come to Texas where a friend of mine was sentenced to 1 year state jail after his 3rd DUI, and considered himself lucky. We don't put up with offenders of any kind.

13. How much $$$ did the judge get at the golf course? NO JUSTICE FOR THE RICH AND FAMOUS!
Who was his JUDGE? The Judge needs to be investigated by the FBI.

14. Are you allowed to drink at home while you're on house arrest for DUI??? I'll bet Gary Collins has a bar the size of The Polo Club in his house. Not a bad deal.

15. Under California DUI laws a person who commits any felony, that has two or more "strike" priors, must be sentenced to at least 25-years-to-life in State Prison. A person died before this DUI. He was never charge.
