Nicolas Cage makes tons of money making movies, so why does he owe the state of Louisiana $6.2 million?
Cage was slapped with a federal tax lien last month. He owns a house there, which is currently on the market for $3.55 million.
If Nic takes that cash and gives it right over to Louisiana, he'll only owe another $2.65 mil -- but he'll still owe everyone that saw "Bangkok Dangerous" 99 minutes of their life back.
His rep had no comment.

should read
"but HE'D still owe ALL THOSE WHO'D SEEN "Bangkok Dangerous" 99 minutes of their LIVES back."
Do you guys have high school diplomas?
Do you know BASIC English?
Who are you?
Now, let me get this straight...if he owes this money to the State of Louisiana...how the hell did the feds/IRS get into it? Have you got this story screwed up TMZ?
Nic Cage is an excellent actor, so I wonder why he sometimes chooses such bad movies. "Knowing" was just terrible! Not the worst I've seen, of course, but not worthy of Nic Cage's acting abilities.
As far as his New Orleans home, I wouldn't live in it if he gave it to me. It's supposed to be very haunted - by ghosts, of course. Terrible things have happened there. Oh, I take it, but I'd immediately sell it.
Yeah? BUT he's still THE MAN from "Leaving Las Vegas", "Lord of War" "Moonstruck"....etc etc etc...and on and on we go
If he owes the IRS, why does the writer of this article says he owes the state of Louisiana $6.2 million?
"If Nic takes that cash and gives it right over to Louisiana, he'll only owe another $2.65 mil"
Why would Cage pay the state if the IRS slapped him with a federal tax lien?
what's up with all the celebs owing money-back taxes-IRS???? so disappointed in them
shame on them- if they can not/do not handle their own finances then they should frequently oversee the people they are paying to do it
sheer stupidity to allow their financial advisers to go unchecked - especially for long periods of time
and if they handle their own money then maybe they should take a course or two in accounting or something to keep up with the rest of us - paying our bills/taxes etc. on time
What would Suze Orman say? That people like Cage bite off more than they can chew ? And that the financial reality of buying expensive properties and then ignoring them not payiong the taxes, not maintaining them ect, will reel them in and bite them on the ass?
No one mentioned "Raising Arizona"!
a true classic and personal favorite that launched Cage's blockbuster career
Nic Cage is in hawk. Now I know why he does all those sh*tty movies. He could have been a great actor.

I'm totally with you on this one, sm. Have you ever seen the TMZ TV show? That will give you a good look at the level of their standards for command of the English language - or for intellect.
Unfortunately, a high school diploma doesn't even come close to assuring that students know basic English grammar, spelling, and syntax anymore. Even so-called journalists on TV commit glaring errors all the time. Now texting and tweeting have only doomed proper English into oblivion. Most kids have no clue how to spell basic vocabulary. They know only the abbreviations. It only makes for poor communication and confusion; it's not just about being proper. Keeping yourself uneducated has far- and deep-reaching ramifications, too.
As a writer, it drives me especially crazy. Maybe I'll hone up on my French and Italian and move across the pond. I don't think they are abandoning their languages yet.
Maybe he should contact Lisa Marie Presley and beg to borrow some of the 25+ million she received from her conning marriage to Michael Jackson. I wonder what she received from Cage. Anyway, all he has to do is let the property return to the state of Louisana, and make a deal with the IRS to pay off his remaining debt in payments.
