DJ AM was last seen in public this past Sunday -- when he threw the first pitch at a Mets game at Citi Field in NYC.
As TMZ first reported, AM was found dead in his New York apartment early this evening. He was 36.
TMZ cameras last saw AM a week earlier at Bardot in Hollywood, where he was playing a set.

He went through a lot in the past year.
I hope everyone who prays says a little prayer for him and his family and friends.
RIP Man!
I have to point out that he was 36 and 3+6=9 Hasn't anyone heard of rockstars that die at 27? I think its when the numbers add up to 9 and you've done everything you needed to do, that's when you die. RIP DJ AM
He was a drug addict (probably how he lost the weight anyway) who was suing the families of the pilots who died in the crash that he survived. Maybe he should have been grateful to have lived and not a greedy h'wood mofo who tried to get free cash from soneone else's tradegy. it seems the grim repaer had enough of him and finally took him out. If you remember, he was supposed to be on that flight in Buffalo that crashed a few months ago whit no survivors.
Wrong. He was in AC at his club Dusk on Tuesday. that was the last time.
Serious.... Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson, Billy Mays,Jasmine Fiore, Oscar Mayer Jr, Eunice Shriver, Ted Kennedy, Walter Cronkite, Steve McNair, David Carridine, Dominique Dunne and now HIM!!!!
ALSO THOSE OF JUST THE PEOPLE THAT DIED THIS SUMMER NOT THE WHOLE 2009 YEAR......
2009 IS NOT A GOOD YEAR AT ALL
I saw him Tuesday night at Dusk in AC and he threw down. This is a sad day...
The curse of Citi Field! First Bababooey's wild pitch and now this!
Sorry, but the dude was a drug addict, I don't feel bad about this. He made his own choices, now live (or die) with them. I'm amazed the Travis hasn't killed himself with drugs, seeing his c*ck was burned off in the crash.
Another example of why its never a good idea to be a Mets fan.
Jeez DJ, so the Mets are having another horrendous, cursed season. Ain't no reason to go hit the pipe and end it all. He needed to suck it up (not the pipe) and wait 'til next year, like the rest of us sad Mets fans.
Interesting... He's from Philly. Throws the ball out for the Mets whilst playing the Phillies. Eric Bruntlett (Phils) makes history with a triple out, Phils win ... Billy Penn KARMA anyone????
