5. She always was overly pleased with herself -- that's what caused her to leave 10000 Maniacs and why her solo releases are largely ponderous affairs. Nat needs to lighten up. But she looks great for 45!

8. Ummmm... Gary. Natalie's solo albums have FAR outsold anything the Maniacs did. As for them being "pondorous affairs", art is subjective. I love the Maniacs, with Natalie out in front. But, she's done quite, quite well on her own. And she's STILL gorgeous.

9. Almost 20 years ago, I was living in South Korea teaching English. My roommate from the U.K. introduced me to In My Tribe. I still listen to that CD and These Are Days regularly and they take me back to good times and people I miss.

10. NM is likable enough on stage(although her lyrics are rather simplistic); it's when she opens her mouth off stage, she's like nails on a chalkboard. she's really full of herself.
better female artists: ani difranco, bjork, robyn, michelle shocked, brandi carlisle. at least they are somewhat humble, unlike natalie merchant.
