Here's Godmother of Punk Patti Smith, 62, at some event in NYC on Tuesday (left) -- and Hasidic Jewish actor Abe Karpen (right).

Due to religious conflicts, one of them had to back out of playing Natalie Portman's husband in the film "New York I Love You."
