Mel says racist remarks and TMZ writes the type of racist word ("DEM"-as oppose to "those" or "them"), referring to the way they think all black people speak. It just never ends with white people. But what can you say? They are God's choosen ones. They, and only they, get to do these sort of things.

Divorce and/or separation usually involve nasty and hurtful behavior for which years later we are shamefully sorry. Mel Gibson is apparently an alcoholic and when, I'm sorry I can't remember her name, met, dated and became pregnant she had to make choices along the way including overlooking the signs of trouble ahead. When the air clears their behavior will leave a painfully obvious mess for them to clean up. Mel Gibson's children are watching and listening . He seems to be in a private hell at this point but it is nothing compared to the hell he will be in when he has to explain himself to the hearts and minds of his confused and hurt children.

As I recall this is still America (Happy Birthday!) and everyone is free to have an opinion and voice it however they see fit. Mel is not some great intellectual giant, so he can be excused for taking his argument down a few notches. I don't mind the "n" word so much as the mindset behind it. Ignorance. I'm a white guy who grew up as a minority in a black culture. It's a weird turnaround to be here now, but no good can come of demonizing someone for his or her beliefs. They are his or her's alone.

If the world knew what everyone, including celebrities, said behind closed doors, especially when it comes to spousal disputes, no one would be politically correct. People swear. People call names. People get nasty and mean. Mel is NO different than everyone else. Black people say the N word more than whites.

Maybe we're blowing this all out of proportion here. I mean, he could very well have meant it as a *compliment* - This could easily have been taken out of context!
