Hours after one son was arrested for drug possession on Tuesday, his other son got into a gnarly head-on car accident -- and now, Hollywood legend Ryan O'Neal tells TMZ, his family is "falling apart."
The first son, 26-year-old Redmond O'Neal -- who has a long history with drugs -- pled "not guilty" to heroin possession and unlawful possession of a firearm this morning ... but Ryan tells us, the kid "has a real problem."
Ryan hasn't seen his other son -- 46-year-old Griffin O'Neal -- in years ... but thankfully, he heard through the grapevine ... Griffin wasn't seriously injured in Tuesday's head-on collision.
All in all, Ryan's still optimistic despite the familial setbacks -- insisting, "We'll come back."

What is really sad is that Ryan does not seem to take any responsibility for the problems his children face. He basically dumped them to chase after Farrah and never did the work a parent has to do to help a child grow and become productive members of society!
Good God, when is Redmond going to learn ??? He is a convicted felon and on probation,
and he is carrying a firearm in his car, and buying drugs? OMG, how dumb can you
get?? I thought he made a vow to straighten up his life in honor of his mother??
Redmond is a strange fellow. In the reality series of the O'Neal's, he acts painfully shy, hangs his head, and won't give eye contact to anyone. What is the world would make
this guy act so anti-social and hide into a drug world, when he has the likes of Ryan
and Farrah as parents? I just dont get it. There has to be alot of disfunction in this family that we , as viewers, will never know. Ryan ---- you have alot of making up to do with your family Mister, it all falls into your lap

when was it ever together...youre a lousy father...so most of the crap going on in your kids life is your fault...you did drugs with ...partied with them...even tried to pick up your own daughter at Farrahs funeral...and only now you realize your family is falling apart...no one to blame but yourself you fat pig of a man!

Michelle is absolutely right. The way Ryan complains on his reality show that his children weren't raised right reminds me of the old joke about the Menendez brothers asking for mercy for killing their parents because they're orphans. He seems completely oblivious to the FACT that his kids are messed up because he was such a poor father!
C'mon. Tatum was and still is a rotten, spoiled brat beeyotch. Griffin is nothing but trouble and was responsible for the boating accident that killed Francis Ford Coppola's son. Redmond need the kind of help and intervention that I read about online on CNN where you do whatever you have to legally put your kid away and out of reach of drugs for at least a year. Again and again if you have to.
