Michael Jackson

Bedside Lined with Pill Bottles

10/5/2011 3:35 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Michael Jackson propofol bottles
If it wasn't obvious Michael Jackson had a drug problem before -- this oughta do the trick ...

According to an investigator for the L.A. County Coroner's office, Michael Jackson's bedside table was lined with a pharmacy's worth of prescription pill bottles.

Investigator Elissa Fleak just testified -- she inspected MJ's bedroom the day he died, and found the above collection of pill bottles beside the singer's bed.

Among the pills -- a collection of sedatives Diazepam, Lorazepam, Temazepam ... the list goes on.

Fleak says she also found a blue bag full of Propofol vials -- the same bag MJ's security guard Alberto Alvarez claims he packed on Murray's orders ... before calling 911.

Deputy District Attorney David Walgren played the audiotaped interview that Dr. Conrad Murray did with the LAPD just two days after Michael Jackson died, in court Friday, and the interview had the jurors’ full attention, RadarOnline.com is reporting.

It was a brilliant and strategic move by Walgren because Monday is a court holiday, and jurors will certainly have plenty of time to think about Murray admitting to cops that he gave Michael Jackson Propofol.

In Murray’s interview, he told cops Jackson asked him for “some milk,” his codeword for Propofol, and he admitted that he administered it to the King of Pop.

Dr. Murray: [Michael Jackson] said, "I'd like some milk,"
Detective Martinez: Milk?
Detective Smith: About what time was this?
Dr. Murray: This he said, "please, please give me some milk so that I can sleep, because I know that this is all that really works for me"
Detective Smith: Hot milk or warm or just--
Dr. Murray: It's just some medicine--
Detective Smith: What--
Dr. Murray: --that he was familiar with
Detective Martinez: What is the medicine?
Dr. Murray: It's called Propofol

Dr. Murray also told the cops he only left Jackson's bedside for two-three minutes to go to the bathroom after 10:40 a.m., but cell phone records indicate that the doctor was on the phone with a number of his girlfriends in the minutes leading up to Michael Jackson's death.

Murray went on to explain how he broke the news of Jackson’s death to the singer’s mother, Katherine Jackson, upon her arrival at the UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center.

Dr. Murray: So we -- they brought her into a room down the hall. And I went in there with the emergency room physician who was treating him, whom I was with all the time through his code, and they broke the news to Mrs. Jackson. So the doctor started to tell that, you know her son came in and he was having difficulty breathing and they tried everything. And she said, "well how is he? He's not dead is he?" and the doctor said "yes," and she broke down. It was very -- and weeping. We stayed there, held her hand."

Dr. Murray then talked about how he went to another room where Jackson's three children were, and told them their father had died.

Dr. Murray: They asked questions, and the children found out that daddy wasn't doing well, that he had passed away. And then they were weeping, really weeping...after they cried and cried and then his daughter uttered a lot of words of unhappiness, and you know she will live alone without her dad and she didn't want to be an orphan...She cried and was very stark. And then she asked to see him. And then that was another thing. How do you let children see him? I asked them to prepare Mr. Jackson's body, make it as presentable as possible, because I recommended an autopsy be performed, so that the children would be able to view their daddy and have them say good-bye to him at this time."

Court will be in recess until next Tuesday.

We are fans across the world, who are demanding justice for the murder of Michael Jackson. We are fans across the world who feel that Conrad Murray is responsible for taking the life of another, with a careless disregard for human life. Throughout the years we are fans who have watched the system victimize, vilify and crucify an innocent man whose sole purpose was to change the world and make it a better place. We are fans who are demanding that Michael Jackson be treated with the same rights afforded to every other human being.

We are fans that together are uniting as one and telling the system that the unfair treatment of Michael Jackson needs to stop and the truth needs to finally be told. We are fans that are grieving the loss of a man who the likes the world has rarely seen. It is time to set the record straight and tell the world who Michael Jackson really was, not who they made him out to be. Michael Jackson was the victim of opportunists who all wanted their piece of a man who never did a thing but give his heart, his money and his musical genius to the world.

We are fans that are demanding that the media STOP the lies they have told the world and start reporting the truth. You took his dignity in your campaign for ratings. You told the world he molested children, when there was no evidence and he was found not guilty. You told the world he was ashamed of his race and was bleaching his skin to become white. You chased him from his own country with your barrage of lies. We the fans are now the voice of the man who you destroyed in the eyes of the public and are now allowing that same system to make a mockery of his murder. Michael is gone, his children are fatherless and the world has lost an amazing human and humanitarian.

For those of you with blood on your hands, his fans are standing up, telling the truth and setting the record straight. You may have destroyed the life and contributed to the death of the greatest entertainer that ever lived, but we will not let you have his legacy. Justice and truth for Michael Joseph Jackson. Your dreams were broken; your life was taken. But united we will stand. We had to let you go, but we will not forget you. We will not turn our backs and walk away.

We love and miss you everyday. We will not let them do to your children what they did to you... the pain is over, they can't hurt you anymore...you are free and now you can fly. Goodbye and thank you, RIP Michael.

Conrad Murray trial week 2. MICHAEL JACKSON’S LAST MESSAGE TO US
October 3, 2011
tags: Dr. Richelle Cooper, Dr. Thao Nguyen, Elissa Fleak, Hamid Towfigh, Martin Blount, Michael Jackson's tapeby vindicatemj
.Here is Michael Jackson’s dying message to the world
The fact that the message was taken on May 10, 2009 when Conrad Murray was routinely giving him propofol or something else to sleep – and was recording him at that – does not change anything.

Michael was falling asleep and that is why his voice sounds like he is passing away from us.

At moments like that people are unable to lie. They tell the truth only and speak of things which are most essential to them.

And in his dying hour Michael Jackson was speaking of the pain he was feeling for the world – for you, me, all of us – and our children who should be able to change it all.

His last thoughts were not about making millions, they were about giving them away for the biggest in the world hospital for children – which would have a game room and a movie theatre so that children don’t feel sick and depressed there.

He knew that joy for the children is their best remedy.

Before stepping into eternity he was still thinking of children’s well-being as his biggest dream. He understood them so well.

He was pure as a child. And he was talking about God.

I AM GONNA DO THAT FOR THEM!
Though I am asleep…

* * * * *

Half a day has passed since the ****tering tape was played in the courtroom and its full text was uncovered to the world, but it is still not receiving even a fraction of the attention it deserves.

The media quotes only tiny pieces of the text accompanied by a heavily slanted comment or prefers to silence it altogether. No more gleeful CNN repetition of the tape every 5 minutes, no more Piers Morgan savoring his primitive and distasteful story four times a day, no more happy pundits popping up on the screen every half an hour to dirty Michael – no, everything is extremely modest, cold and meaning to imply that “it is is no longer the news”.

What is news to them is Steve Jobs’s death which serves as a pretext for forgetting about Michael Jackson’s tape. But this way they are showing us that their desire to bury Michael is so big that they are even ready to give up the golden opportunity of reporting an absolutely smashing link between these two pieces of news – I mean the iphone which was invented by Steve Jobs and the fact that it was exactly an iphone which allowed to extract Michael’s priceless recording and Murray’s correspondence with insurers and AEG on the day of Michael’s death.

The recording was retrieved at the end of July as a complete miracle – it was almost three months after the event (as it was recorded on May 10 but analyzed at the end of July) and restoring its data became possible only due to iphone’s unique possibilities of a small computer. One would think that Michael’s recording would be a perfect way to show Steve Jobs’s legacy at its best, but the media thinks different – they totally ignore this point though it is the most logical thing to speak of under the cir****tances!

When Jane Velez-Mitchell couldn’t resist expressing her natural emotion upon hearing Michael’s tape and saying what she really thought about it ( that “maybe MJ fans were right all along and this man could never hurt a child and he was never a p-le”), she was immediately restrained by Stacy Brown who tweeted her that “she didn’t do their profession a service” – which literally means that telling the truth about Michael Jackson is doing a disservice to the media.

In other words they are now openly telling us that the only right thing for the media to do about Michael Jackson is to cover him with dirt, while everything else will be a “disservice” to their profession. This is no news to Michael’s supporters and it is only the openness with which it is being revealed now to the general public which is so surprising.

At least no one will be able to say now that the media has no agenda against Michael – the agenda has become so obvious that it is simply impossible not to notice it.

Michael’s tape is the biggest possible news ever. He is talking to us from behind the grave and is expressing his innermost thoughts which are revealed to us at a moment when people cannot lie in principle. The media twists and cuts it, misinterprets and gives all sorts of crazy explanations to it, speculates or squeezes out only drops of information from it – in short they are doing everything which is in their power, except the simplest and easiest thing to do which is providing the full text of it.

The reason for that is because Michael’s tape is so eye-opening an experience that it is capable to ****ter within seconds the wall of lies mounted around Michael Jackson by generations of the tabloid media.

Here is the full text of it:

MJ: Elvis didn’t do it. Beatles didn’t do it. We have to be phenomenal. When people leave the show, when people leave the show, I want them to say, “I’ve never seen nothing like this in my life. Go. Go. I’ve never seen nothing like this. Go. It’s amazing. He’s the greatest entertainer in the world”. I’m taking that money, a million children, children’s hospital, the biggest in the world, Michael Jackson’s Children’s Hospital. Gonna have a movie theatre, game room. Children are depressed. The – in those hospital, no game room, no movie theatre. They’re sick because they’re depressed. Their mind is depressing them. I want to give them that. I care about them, them angels. God wants me to do it. God wants me to do it. I’m gonna do it, Conrad.

CM: I know you would.

MJ: Don’t have enough hope, no more hope. That’s the next generation that’s gonna save our planet, starting with – we’ll talk about it. United States, Europe, Prague, my babies. They walk around with no mother. They drop them off, they leave – a psychological degradation of that. They reach out to me – please take me with you.

CM: Mmnh-mmnh.

MJ: I want to do that for them.

CM: Mmnh-Mmnh.

MJ: I’m gonna do that for them. They will be remembered more than my performances. My performances will be up there helping my children and always be my dream. I love them. I love them because I didn’t have a childhood. I had no childhood. I feel their pain. I feel their hurt. I can deal with it. Heal the World, We are the World, Will You Be There, The Lost Children. These are the songs I’ve written because I hurt, you know, I hurt.

(13 seconds: silence)

CM: You okay?

(8 seconds: silence)

MJ: I am asleep.

Despite the fact that Michael’s message came to us in fragments it is still so deep and powerful that I don’t even venture to give my interpretation of it as any comment will fall short of the original.

All I can say is that those who were still in doubt as to his innocence can now safely come down on his side of the fence as under a deep sedation like that it is impossible to pretend or lie. Michael’s words were coming from the very deep of his subconscious mind and therefore expressed the very essence of his soul.

And Michael was talking about the world in general and not of his children only – he was talking about millions of children who will probably be able to save us from the state of total degradation we currently find ourselves in.

The world terribly let Michael down and he had no more hope in it, except the children and the next generation of people. He placed his last hopes in the hands of a doctor whom he evidently trusted as he shared his thoughts with him in the final moments of his conscious life. And this is what this doctor did to him.

Are we indeed hopeless?

Trial of the Century - Pt. 9......
Okay so before I continue my plow, I want to especially thank all the Michael Fan/Supporters for essentially IGNORING the LUNATICS on board. You gotta feel sorry for 'em, especially since they clearly forgot to take their Meds, or lost track of one of their personalities or whatever. Anyhoo, let's keep up the good work and AVOID them no matter how many PATHETIC posts they make...some of them can't even remember what they just posted apparently since they continue to REPEAT the same thing over and over....
Much Prayer and possibly and EXORCIST or 2 is in order......
Meanwhile, back at the ranch:
-L.O.V.E., I LOVED your post! This trial has done NOTHING to change my stand regarding Michael's use of Meds. There is PROOF that he used various Meds PRESCRIBED for various ailments, but there is NO PROOF that he abused or was ADDICTED to any of them--including PROPOFOL. Moreover, doctors have stated that there aren't many known cases of people addicted to that Med, except for anaesthesiologists who have constant access to it.....
We have NOTHING but Murray's word to go on that Michael ever even ASKED for Propofol. The Media seems convinced simply because MURRAY said Michael called it his "Milk", but who else can testify that he ever used that term for it? Even in Nurse Cherilyn's statement, she doesn't call it that....and she only referred to it as DIPRIVAN, never Propofol....
When you listen to Murray's deposition to the LAPD, you can hear how he's constantly trying to cover his tracks, claiming how much he "LOVED" Michael, who was "HIS FRIEND". If he was truly his "friend" and he really thought Michael was addicted to Propofol, he wouldn't have given him any. LOVE should've told him to do that....Oye.
As for the DiLeo issue, not sure what he meant. It could've been anything since Michael had a bad cold around that time, and other issues such as bad back, or even his Lupus condition besides the Insomnia. The thing to remember is the whole Insomnia thing came from Murray also. Michael did have issues in the past with Insomnia while on Tour, but he wasn't on Tour yet. The one thing Murray mentioned that I believe is the part where he said he was brought in to treat him for Upper Respiratory (cold) issues, and was asked to accompany him on Tour based on Michael's tendency to have Dehydration problems on Tour. Everything else he stated is convenient LIES to cover the fact that he KILLED his patient.....
I do think DiLeo knew WAY more than he let on and IMO that is why he's no longer with us.....
Also, if you listen to Murray's deposition, you'll note that he NEVER once mentions TOHME, who was right there at the Press Conference beside Jermy. Still wondering who's funding Murray?
-igotfleasfromtmz, another great point! You wrote:
June 20 Dileo states he had an episode-
June 25th the morning he died They were unable to get insurance just on Murray word alone and wanted to do a physical. All those emails were forwarded by Murray to other people.
Makes you go hm
-Jenny, OMG....what Bipolar Disorder? Could you people STOP putting conditions on this man?!!! He was NEVER diagnosed with that condition, and you're not a doctor to be able to make that dime store diagnosis so be still already. I swear, some of you people are missing your calling as writers for THE NATIONAL ENQUIRER!!
-Hannah, Thanks so much for your words of WISDOM on this board!
-Lindy, You make a great point here. There have been many others who said they thought throughout Michael's life that people may have given him substances to control him. Put it this way--back in the early 2000's his manager Dieter Weisner somehow got his Power of Attorney. Michael got it back, but it was never explained how Weisner got it in the first place, and it later came out that he had obtained licenses for the HIStory Tour Products. And after Tohme came into Michael's life, who knows what he may have given him....
I know this seems far-fetched to some people, but not if you stop and consider the fact that Michael, like most stars had people doing many things for him. He had a cook, Bodyguard, Personal Asst., and Personal Physician. In Kai Chases' testimony, she stated that MURRAY would bring Michael's meals and JUICES to him once she prepared them. How easy would it be to drop something into those Juices on the way to his room? Something to CHEW on.....
-Zoe, ANOTHER great post...we're really batting a thousand here! You wrote:
"Lets stop blaming a dead man just because you did or didn't like him. Facts are facts, this doctor is guilty, lets throw the book at him, set an example, and move on. Too much tax money flying out the door when the facts are RIGHT THERE. Forget the name "Michael Jackson", substitute any other John Doe, and this would be over already, because the public would get it."
GON' GIRL!!
-Eddie, you are SO right! The charge should be no less than MURDER 2/VOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER based on the evidence and testimony in this case. Clearly the DA had NO GUTS so he went with the CHEESY Involuntary Manslaughter which is the same thing someone could get if they mistakenly killed someone in a car accident......
Murray's OWN statement to the LAPD shows that he knew FULL WELL what he was doing when he gave Michael the Propofol and Benzos, and he even said he thought Michael was addicted and tried to give him the Benzos for sleep instead. That statement is a conviction in and of itself.....
-OhwowLike, want to know what I really love? When IDIOTS like you ever learn to READ and separate FACT from FICTION before posting comments. Because if you had read any REAL news reports, or bothered to watch the Trial Coverage, you'd know that those Meds weren't all by his bedside, most were in a cabinet--much like the one that you and millions of other Americans have STOCKED TO THE GILLS with Past Prescriptions. SO get off your HIGH HORSE and Get REAL!!
BTW: The idea of someone planting those meds is right on point. ANYONE could've put those bottles there and imo, that's more likely what happened. Oh yeah--the only time we KNOW Michael was given Propofol was on June 25 by Murray. You have GOT to stop swallowing EVERYTHING the Media and Murray tells you....I mean, seriously........
-Hey Alice! Thanks so much for posting that blog about Michael's last words to us--it's BEAUTIFUL!!
-Susan62509, Lindy may be referring to the fact that there are TWO signatures on the AEG contract--both of which have been disputed as being legit. One of them is signed on behalf of MJJ, Inc. which is the company TOHME started when he went to work with Michael. IMO, he signed both signatures which is why Michael denied ever agreeing to 50 Concerts.....
-Hey TSIG! I see you're back pretty quick--WONDERFUL!! Thanks for the updates on that LOUSY Tribute. SO glad to see it going down in flames. Lord knows I hate to see anything connected to Michael fail, but I just KNOW he wouldn't condone this CRAP!
And it's TOO funny how they've been blocked from doing Pay-per-view and Satellite. What they forgot is that Sony/Epic, and Universal/Vivendi owns rights to some of Michael's songs and they weren't going to allow anyone to use them without getting their cut. From what I understood, they're able to use the Music in live Concert because it's in Wales, but the minute they try to bring to the US, it's over.....
Not sure why people would even want to see something that less than a year from now will be sold for $5 if that. Heck, we already had 2 shows of people singing Michael's songs--both of which can be seen for free on TV or Youtube. I have to seriously question the mind of any so-called "FAN" who bought tickets to that CRAP....especially once it was clear from the beginning that it was nothing but a SCAM anyway.....
As for Katherine pulling out, the family always seem to be slow on the uptake now that Michael's gone. But Katherine has 2 reasons why she may want to pull out:
1. The Estate has loaned her the $6mil to settle the $17mil Segye Times Judgement. That is HUGE! She will have to pay the loan back, but the Interest is really low. IMO it's worth loaning her the money if it will get her to quit supporting every CON ARTIST who comes within 10 miles of her with a SCAM to make money off of Michael's name.....
2. She and PPB went to see Michael's Cirque Show, "The IMMORTAL TOUR" and was amazed along with everyone else at the Opening. Maybe now she realizes the level of QUALITY and PERFECTION it takes to Produce ANYTHING connected to Michael's legacy....we can only hope....

TSIG

Hey back to ya, Cher. I've been catching up on all your posts. Haven't been able to watch any MSM analysis, so your posts are very helpful.

Yeah, with what time I HAVE had, I've spent it like a terrier on the leg of the Jackson family that just won't let go when it comes to this sham "charity" concert. I'm not one given to schadenfreude, but I AM deeply gratified at the disastrous outcome of LaToya's money grab. With the plug pulled on all the live streaming to Facebook, theaters, and TV stations to over 800 million people in over 100 countries, ALL the profit has been DRAINED from this fake charity fake tribute concert, and they will probably even lose money on it.

The stadium holds 74,000; because they only sold about 25,000 tickets, they reduced the number of seats available to 50,000 and then attempted to sell that out. Still nothing. Then they got the Black Eyed Peas for about a week, and tickets began to move a bit, but not much. So they had to give 'em away and sell them at rock bottom prices, and as they gave away sections, they declared them "sold out." Just a few hours ago, they STILL had "sold" only 40,000 tickets (many actually given away) with 10,000 still available. The concert doors open in a few hours.

LaToya and her crew announced the Facebook streaming only a week before the concert, probably hopeing that wouldn't be enough time for anyone to legally stop them. They were dreaming of potentially BILLIONS in profits (800 mil X $5), now they can cry as they make ZERO profit and have to cough up money out of their own pockets to cover expenses, and probably for the multiple lawsuits that will arise from contractors and fans after the music stops.

WHY am I gratified by this? Because it is a tremendous injustice for MJ to have worked so hard all of his life, and for these horrid creatures such as LaToya and the SECRET investors that GLE refuses to identify (Thome, Barack, Malnick, Mann, Papa Joe, etc.???) to INSTANTLY pocket hundreds of millions overnight and, because of modern technology, ac***ulate overnight what took MJ a lifetime to do. There is something VERY, VERY wrong with that. One only has to revisit some 1993 YouTube clips of LaToya to be reminded of the fact that she tried to DESTROY her brother's life and profit from doing so. She says she's "STARTING OVER"? That's right. Starting over again with the same old crapola: using her brother to enrich herself.

The outcome of this concert attempt is NO ACCIDENT. It came about because of the character of LaToya Jackson. Some people believe that you can think in secret, and that no one will know what you are thinking. But this is not true. Your thoughts create your cir****tances. This disaster is LaToya's own making. She has no one but herself to blame.

Michael Jackson 1993 NBC interviewing LaToya

Now the Jackson family has announced they they plan to hold ANNUAL tributes to MJ to "honor his legacy." Orginally they said this concert was supposed to be a one-off, never to be repeated. That was one of their marketing ploys to sell overpriced tickets. I hope there is an outraged fan AND artist backlash to this and that NO ONE participates. It is time for those Jacksons to STOP attempting to enrich their bank accounts by riding the coattails of their son, brother, uncle.

And girlfriend, you are TWO STEPS AHEAD OF ME on this one:

"...if you listen to Murray's deposition, you'll note that he NEVER once mentions TOHME, who was right there at the Press Conference beside Jermy. Still wondering who's funding Murray?"

I never even THOUGHT about it, but you're ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!! WHY, in all his discussions with authorities about MJ, has there been not even a PEEP about THOME???? This is BIG, girl, very, VERY BIG. Why have we never heard anyone ask someone -- like Jermy -- WTH was Thome doing there with you on the day MJ died when MJ had already fired him? WHY this curious lack of curiosity? Who can tweet Jermy? Somebody ask him please.

Michael Jackson called hiring me 'divine guidance,' Murray saysBy Alan Duke, CNN

Jurors will hear the second half of Murray's interview with police next week
Tune in to HLN for full coverage and analysis of the Conrad Murray trial and watch live, as it happens, on CNN.com/live and CNN's mobile apps.

Los Angeles (CNN) -- Michael Jackson begged for his "milk," his nickname for propofol, after a sleepless night and just hours before he died from what the coroner said was an overdose of the surgical anesthetic, the singer's doctor Conrad Murray told detectives.

"I've got to sleep, Dr. Conrad," Murray said Jackson pleaded to him. "I have these rehearsals to perform. I must be ready for the show in England. Tomorrow, I will have to cancel my performance, because you know I cannot function if I don't get to sleep."

Jurors in Murray's involuntary manslaughter trial heard about half of the two-hour police interview on Friday, before going home for a three-day weekend.

Los Angeles Police Det. Scott Smith, one of two investigators who questioned Murray, is heard telling Murray at the start that he would make the interview "as painless and as quick as possible."

The audio recording, however, was too much for Michael Jackson's oldest sister, Rebbie. After she whispered to a bailiff, she walked into the jury box, next to the alternate jurors, and through the middle of the courtroom to the exit.

Police interview with Murray played

Murray: Jackson asked for 'milk'

Murray on CPR efforts, antidotes, death Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor stopped the audio playback and appeared angry at the disruption. "I can't have people walking through the courtroom!" Pastor said.

Murray is not expected to testify during the trial, but the interview playback means that jurors will have heard his story -- at least as he told it two days after Jackson's death.

"This is divine guidance," Murray said Jackson told him when he asked him to work as his personal doctor.

"He wanted me to be around forever. And he wanted to open a children's hospital where children all over the world can get treatment, and he wanted me to be the medical director," Murray told the detectives about his relationship with the pop star. Earlier this week, jurors heard a recording in which Jackson -- using slow and slurred speech -- talked to Murray about his dream of having a children's hospital.

The prosecution is playing the interview between Murray and the detective to help prove their case that the doctor should be held criminally responsible for reckless medical treatment that they say significantly contributed to Jackson's death.

Still, it does benefit the defense in some ways. The jury hears Murray's reasons for not immediately calling 911 for help, his explanation of his much-criticized CPR techniques, and the story that he was trying to wean Jackson off of a dependency on propofol. At the same time, the defendant is not subjected to a cross-examination by prosecutors.

Murray said that when he agreed to be Jackson's personal physician for his "This Is It" shows in London, he had no idea he would have to give him regular infusions of propofol.

But it was a drug Jackson told him he had used for years to get elusive sleep, he said.

"I was a bit surprised of his pharmacological knowledge," Murray told police. "He explained that he used it frequently on his tours."

During his two months on the job, he gave Jackson propofol "30 days a month, every day, with the exception of three days leading up to his death," Murray said.

"Michael Jackson may have a had a dependency to the substance," Murray said. "I was trying to wean him off."

The morning of the day Jackson died was after a third night of trying to wean Jackson from the drug, he said.

Murray described a long, restless night and morning for the pop icon, that began with the use of a series of sedatives -- lorazepam and midazolam -- without effect, Murray said.

Jackson found brief sleep early that day using meditation, but at 10 a.m. -- after eight hours of frustrated efforts -- Jackson begged for propofol, Murray said.

"He said, 'I'd like to have some milk, please, please give me some."

By 10:40 a.m., Murray said he gave in.

"So, I agreed at that time that I would switch over to the propofol, and I would give small amounts that would help him to sleep," Murray told detectives.

"I loved Mr. Jackson," the doctor added. "He was my friend, and he opened up to me, and I wanted to help him as much as I can."

On the recording, Murray insisted he kept a close watch on Jackson after he finally fell asleep. The physician never mentioned the long list of e-mails and calls that cell phone records later revealed.

The doctor said he left the room for about two minutes to visit the toilet. When he returned, he realized his patient had stopped breathing, Murray said.

"Immediately, I felt for a pulse and I was able to get a pulse in the femoral region," he said. "His body was warm. There was no change in color, so I assumed that everything happened quickly."

Murray told police he immediately started one-handed CPR on the bed alternately with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on Jackson.

"I couldn't lift him off the bed by myself," Murray said. "What I did was to improvise. His bed is fairly firm, so I got my left hand under his body and I compressed with my hand not moving in place."

Jackson security chief Alberto Alvarez, the first person to join Murray in the effort, testified that he questioned Murray's knowledge of CPR techniques because he was trained to put a patient on a hard surface and use two hands.

Murray said he did not call 911 for help immediately because he expected answering the emergency operator's questions would take too much time away from the resuscitation efforts.

Instead, he ran down the stairs and shouted for the chef to summon help, and he placed a call to Jackson's personal assistant, Michael Amir Williams, to ask that he send a security guard upstairs, Murray said.

Murray said he tried his best to revive Jackson.

The second half of Murray's interview will be played in court Tuesday morning, when jurors return after the Columbus Day holiday.

Defense questions coroner's methods Earlier Friday, Murray's lawyers questioned the coroner's toxicologist in their effort to convince jurors that the sedative lorazepam, not the surgical anesthetic propofol, was the drug most responsible for Michael Jackson's death.

Toxicologist Dan Anderson testified Friday morning that while all blood and urine samples collected in Jackson's autopsy were tested for propofol, the coroner's office did not test all of them for lorazepam levels.

"I think it has its importance but it was not the red flag that caught my eye," Anderson said Friday. "Propofol in any case that we handle is important, probably more important than any other drugs that we deal with."

The Los Angeles County coroner concluded Jackson's June 25, 2009, death was caused by "acute propofol intoxication" in combination with sedatives, including lorazepam.

Lawyers for Murray contend Jackson swallowed eight lorazepam pills and self-administered a dosage of propofol while Murray was no*****ching. The result, they contend, was near instant death for the pop icon.

Prosecutors contend the high level of propofol found in Jackson's blood was the result of Murray's reckless use of a makeshift IV system with no monitoring equipment to put Jackson to sleep with the drug.

Jurors Thursday and Friday heard about the drugs found in Jackson's blood. The scientific evidence, presented by a coroner's toxicologist, is tedious and often hard to follow, but is the cornerstone of the prosecution's case.

Jurors who will decide if Murray is criminally responsible for Jackson's fatal overdose appeared to pay close attention as they took notes while Anderson detailed the lab results from Jackson's autopsy Thursday. Anderson returned to the witness stand the next morning for more defense cross-examination.

A higher level of lorazepam was measured in Jackson's stomach contents than in the blood from his heart and leg, defense lawyer Michael Flanagan noted as he questioned Anderson.

"The concentration is about four times as concentrated in the stomach as it is in the blood. You think that's an important number?" Flanagan asked.

"Not really," Anderson said. "It doesn't necessarily mean it's oral administration."

Along with propofol, Lidocaine and lorazepam, tests of blood taken from Jackson's heart and leg also tested positive for Midazolam and Diazepam, drugs commonly used to alleviate anxiety or induce sleep.

Jackson did not have Demerol in his blood, which is significant because of the defense contention that Dr. Arnold Klein addicted Jackson to the painkiller in frequent visits to his Beverly Hills dermatology clinic in the weeks before his death, without Murray knowing.

Defense lawyer Ed Chernoff said in his opening statement that Jackson was unable to sleep because he was going through withdrawal from Demerol since he had not visited Klein for several days.

Murray's fingerprint was found on the 100-milliliter propofol bottle that coroner's investigator Elissa Fleak testified Thursday she found inside a saline bag that had been sliced open. The prosecutor contends it was that bottle that contained the drug that killed Jackson.

Prosecutors argue that Murray, who was Jackson's personal doctor as he prepared for planned comeback concerts, is criminally responsible for the singer's death because of medical negligence and his reckless use of the propofol to help Jackson sleep.

If convicted of involuntary manslaughter, Murray could spend four years in a California prison and lose his medical license.
