TMZ recently said a few things about Santa Claus that might have shocked our viewers -- our pre-teen viewers -- so we now present an apology. Or at least ... our attempt at one.

Another Momma...

Yes at some point the children will find out the truth.. but it is not the place of TMZ to make that happen. This subject has nothing to do with what you report on. I too leave the tv on while cooking dinner, and I too had a 5 year old lurking. I was able to scramble for the remote and hit mute. But I was beyond disappointed. It's not right, it's not your place. You have ruined Christmas for innocent children, and if that doesn't bother you, than you are really horrible people. Very sad for those children that probably cried themselves to sleep that night.

You know what, TMZ, you're right. Laura Schlesinger said the same thing on her radio show. Why don't we all just stop celebrating Christmas (yes, I said Christmas, not HOLIDAY) and stop buying gifts from all stores run by your constituents! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

Yep..that was the worst apology and all of TMZ has become cynical and tainted. Oh yes and they are always ragging on POLITICAL CORRECTNESS and 'crucifying" people but it's okay to mock kids, parents and the traditions of others. I see some using the Jew word tsk tsk but ask Harvey when was the last time he attended Temple? Or is he a secular Jew ? What if someone attacked Hanukkah? The replies here are ruthless a well.....learn to read. The complaint said the tv happened to be on..probably had watched and earlier Fox show and the exposure was accidental. Harvey should send a nice present to the kiddos. At 6 it is too earlier for a child to be so disappointed/disillusioned like that.

On another note: Christmas is actually a pagan holiday and note "christian..look up Constantine and holidays.

They say that Santa Claus originated from saint Nick so you can argue that's Christian. I had already thought that TMZ had gone down hill esp. with them sponsoring anything the Kardashians say ( fo schizzle).....and their half-azzed reporting.....and crucifying people like Mel Gibson...stretching that Moon shadows restaurant visit just digging for some more rabble rousing. Maybe it's time to boycott TMZ as well. Harvey made TMZ by beating the Anna Nicole Smith stories to death..... mega postings made this sites huge traffic. Without posters he wouldn't have this site. How soon they forget their humble origins.
Ashes and sticks that away for you Harvey and your heartless staff ----------------->

The Legend of St. Nicholas

The legend of Santa Claus can be traced back hundreds of years to a monk named St. Nicholas. It is believed that Nicholas was born sometime around 280 A.D. in Patara, near Myra in modern-day Turkey. Much admired for his piety and kindness, St. Nicholas became the subject of many legends. It is said that he gave away all of his inherited wealth and traveled the countryside helping the poor and sick. One of the best known of the St. Nicholas stories is that he saved three poor sisters from being sold into slavery or prostitution by their father by providing them with a dowry so that they could be married. Over the course of many years, Nicholas's popularity spread and he became known as the protector of children and sailors. His feast day is celebrated on the anniversary of his death, December 6. This was traditionally considered a lucky day to make large purchases or to get married. By the Renaissance, St. Nicholas was the most popular saint in Europe. Even after the Protestant Reformation, when the veneration of saints began to be discouraged, St. Nicholas maintained a positive reputation, especially in Holland.

*******The name Santa Claus evolved from Nick's Dutch nickname, Sinter Klaas, a shortened form of Sint Nikolaas (Dutch for Saint Nicholas).

Goto Hell

You really are dirt. Thanks a ton for this. Just because you have no interest in Christmas doesn't mean you have to screw it up for everyone else. You should thank god for presents coming from the sky, like the one you got when the universe decided to make enough stupid people that find your dirtmongering interesting enough to provide you s***bags with a living.
