Dick Clark

Staff Informed of Mogul's Death

at 'Emotional' Office Meeting

4/19/2012 5:30 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

Dick Clark Productions

The staff at Dick Clark Productions learned about the death of their fearless leader directly from the honchos at the company ... during an "emotional" company meeting hours before the news got out to the public ... TMZ has learned.

Sources at DCP tell us ... the staff is a pretty tight knit group and the people who run the company wanted to make sure the employees were the first to know about Dick's passing.

One staffer tells us, "It was an emotional meeting."

We're told the staff has been discussing plans to honor their late boss with a permanent memorial in the office ... but so far, nothing is set in stone.

Here's an article on Dick Clark, an icon and legend...and the first comment's from a spammer. How crass and annoying! Aren't TMZ smart enough to have a system that automatically deletes garbage.

When is someone going to finally tell the truth on what an a-hole this guy was? Remember that old sketch on SNL with David Spade as his receptionist?

Hometown

With all due respect to the family and friends of Mr. Clark, I live in Mt Vernon, NY, his hometown. I was born and raised here just like he was, though decades apart. I haven't heard of anything he did for his hometown, which is a great place to live but has it's troubled areas and a troubled rep, more than it deserves, though the problems are real. Denzel, Heavy D, Ben Gordon, are three we can name that give and gave. Also John and Ralph Branca. They do/did most of it without publicity, though Denzel is very known for his support of the Boys and Girls club and comes back to town alot, under the radar. I'd like to be wrong that Mt Clark did not give back. Maybe he did quietly. Maybe TMZ can find out. thanks.

His heart no longer has a good beat, but I'm sure he wouldn't mind if people dance at his funeral. RIP

The classy people are dying WAY too fast. How is it that we are stuck with trash like rappers, Lohan, Obama, KarTRASHians, Rhianna, Hilton and... WOW, the list can go on and on.
